This here below, is why you have to take everything with a grain of salt, and two grains when you have chronic complainers crying every time this team loses a game.

Top 10 teams, NYR, VAN VGS, BOS, COL, WPG, DAL, FLA, LA CAR by points, not point percentage, cuz ESPN

NYR - lost to CBS, NSH, BUF, OTT, WSH, TOR, EDM
VAN - lost to PHI, TB, TOR, SEA, SJ, PHI
VGS - lost to CHI, ANA, (LA), WSH, PHI, ARZ, ANA
BOS - lost to ANA, DET, MTL, DET, CBS
COL - lost to BUF, SEA, ARI, ANA, (LA), PHI, CHI, ARZ
WPG - lost to (LA), MTL, NSH, EDM, SJ, MTL, CHI
DAL - lost to TOR, CGY x2, TB, STL x 2
FLA - lost to MIN, CHI, (LA), TOR, SEA, NYI, CGY, STL
LA - lost to PIT, PHI, WSH, NYI, SEA, EDM
CAR - lost to ANA, SEA, TB, PHI, TB, NYI, EDM, CGY, NYI etc

Point is, ALL of the top 10 teams, have lost to shittier teams, ALL of the top 10 teams have beaten top 10 teams,

But this board is the only one where the sky is falling every minute of every game....

For some of us its more than just that game or the two losses in a row to division rivals that they they will likely have to go through in the playoffs for success.
Since around the Washington loss they are looking less like the machine they were early on and more and more like last years team that hit a wall in round one and would crumble when physicality ramps up and they have to get greasy.

I get that, I didn't see anything about Vegas that would preclude LA from rolling over them, maybe they had an off night the other day, but that wasn't Vegas beating LA, that was LA shitting the bed and literally not giving a shit, you want to debate that, I'm all for it, but this notion that LA can't beat playoff teams is such bullshit....They've beaten VGS, WPG, COL, ARI (3x) MIN, PHI, FLA, STL, etc.

They have 20 wins, and 10 of them have come against playoff teams.....tell me again they can't win against good teams, please....

Yea they just need to stop their old ways from creeping in right now and injecting a guy like Clarke may be helpful for a little spark. I think LA can take Vegas in a series this year. They would be really tired though for the series after because Vegas will be so physical.

My concern right now is our bottom six led by PLD. I’m also a bit concerned about our bottom defensive pairing, but we also have the option of throwing up in Spence spot.

My biggest fix, however, would would be our bottom six. I know people are upset with PLD, but I’m a firm believer that you put somebody offensive with him, it will stop him from trying to do too much on his own and he is a shooter. I am in the minority of people that think Arvidsson will mesh very well with him but I definitely do not like Kaliyev on that line. I like what I am seeing from Laf but I don’t think we can count on a whole Lotta offense out of him. At this point, he’s a poor man’s Iafallo.

I mentioned last night to go out and try and get a Crouse. I would definitely overpay to try. If Roy and Kaliyev are part of the package so be it.

I don’t want a pugilist but I want a little more sandpaper.

Adjust the pace to include the downtrend if you want it to be relevant.

The Kings are at roughly .500 over the past third of the season. They are on target for third place in the division, possibly even being caught by the end of February by Edmonton.

I think they can take Edmonton, last night Edmonton needed a one in a million shot, 2 absolutely horseshit calls, just to score, again, maybe they had an off night, but if that's the team, they are nowhere near last years team...

I do not adjust for things that have not happened as I cannot predict tomorrow.

We could go on a five game winning or losing streak and in two weeks I could be looking at this team in a different light.

I am not discrediting what you are saying and I do think recent trends are relevant. I just refuse to get upset over something that hasn’t happened
 
Kings really need some grit and size at RW at the bottom 6 and it’s not Kayilev or Lewis.

I agree 4th line needs to beef up to match up with VGK and EDM.. we saw what happened last season playoffs. I like Lewis contribution on the PK.. but he just isnt physical enough.. its not playoff constructed 4th line. Kings dont have an answer when the game gets physical.. weve already seen that this season.

Look at the Reign, they have Hodgson, Helenius, Doty, Ward and Lee. They are very gritty up front. Watched tonight’s game and there is a lot of scrumming it up and players always have each others backs.

Start with the 4th line. Find a center over 6-2 , move lizzo to the wing. I don't know where AK fits on this team anymore.

Could shift Danault to wing and run with four 6’4+ centers. It’d be funny to see Lizotte on Helenius’ wing, too.
 
I wonder if we should be looking for a right wing at the trade deadline? Arvidsson coming back would be a boost but I still think we’re missing a top or middle six RW. I still think Toffoli would be a great add, or a guy like Giroux if we could swing it.

Dubois - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Byfield - Toffoli
Fiala - Danault - Arvidsson
Grundstrom - Lizotte - Lewis

I think it’s time to move on from Kaliyev while he’s still got some kind of value. Kaliyev+ would be a good base.
