You know it's a rough day when the Mayor AND Blake sycophants come off the sidelines to complain about complaining

I mean yeah if you don't have a memory longer than two weeks both those guys are excellent at their jobs

It must be so pleasant going through life with the memory of a pencil

Sorry about your Stockholm Syndrome but those of us who care about this franchise enough to be able to call out issues are chatting, feel free to go back to sitting under a sunbeam if it upsets you.

For some reason, that made me think of this obscure Die Hard quote:

And Roy will walk with no return after another first round exit, incredible asset management.
Letting Roy walk would suck and be garbage asset management but IMO it would be preferable to Blake trying to save face by resigning him like with Gavrikov, considering it would mean all of the following:
1. Dumping Spence for a mid-round pick
2. Signing QB to a bridge instead of locking him up long term
3. Clarke grinding another year on the 3rd pairing
4. Very likely running a less than 23 man roster and dumpster diving for 2 new cheap goalies

I'm 1000% in the "Roy should be moved" camp

JAD and Moverare also were waived because of something having to do with sending players down and eligible for AHL playoffs...
Yeah then Blake will keep them up as scratches for the first round, they don’t play, kings get eliminated. Meanwhile Ontario also gets eliminated and they get zero playoff games with both clubs! All for the added perk of potentially losing them on waivers for nothing.

MASTERCLASS.

it's the most logical situation to sell in. wish we could keep him but i don't think we can afford his next contract.. sell high

unfortunately blake's in the situation he's put himself into, so holding all his big assets for a last playoff hurrah is the self-preservation choice. let the next guy deal with his mess, as they usually do

It's not the AHL playoffs....

You cannot assign players from the NHL to the AHL after the trade deadline unless they were on the AHL roster on "clear day" (deadline day)

At some point AFTER "Clear day" the Kings could be getting Arvidsson back from LTIR (and maybe Grundstrom? I have no idea)

at THAT point they'll need to assign players to Ontario in order to be cap compliant

JAD and Moverare require waivers. Placing them on waivers tomorrow would make them inelligible for tomorrow nights game (I THINK not 100% sure on that but like 99%)

SO

you place them on waivers today, they clear tomorrow, you don't have to assign them til Friday but by virtue of them clearing you have 30 days to assign and recall as much as you like

Then on Friday you assign JAD, Moverare, Turcotte and Clarke or Spence or Laferriere whatever combo you want then use your 4 recalls to bring them back

ONCE your players start returing to the lineup then you have the freedom to assign players to Ontario without worrying about the waivers process

EDIT: I am reasonably certain that is the explanation but please don't assume that I am 100% correct because there are some details I havent bothere to double check

EDIT EDIT: Presumably the Moverare extension (2 years at $775,00 NHL/AHL pay) is to dissuade another taem from claiming him.

Yes it locks him up for two years at cost control for a team that may be interested BUT the contract pays him $775,000 if he plays in the AHL or the NHL so while it wouldn't impact a clubs cap hit it WOULD be a steep price to pay for a player that may be a bubble player.

a team would have to either
1) know they want him in the NHL for 2 seasons OR
2) be fine paying $775,000 for an AHL player

Imagine the life of a person who accepts/embraces mediocrity (i'm being VERY generous here with that verbiage) because 30-40 years ago it was the same or worse and they are used to it. Wow. I feel bad for some folks.

Bout the same as the life of a person who sees the shitty side to everything, all the time....

OKAY I DIDN'T KNOW TODAY WAS DEADLINE DAY LIKE WHAT

My thoughts:

-Tarasenko for two mid round picks is a STEAL by Florida
-Sean Walker is incredibly overhyped
-The Oilers got better, Henrique and Carrick are two solid adds
-Hopefully someone claims JAD cuz f*** JAD
