Which washed up player has scored the most against us? Thats who we are getting for a 1st.

They had to waive those two guys before everyone came back from injury. It’s not like they had a choice. Would you want them to send down Clarke and Turcotte instead?

in the next few seasons, pls point out to me any other team that is so cash strapped that they have no choice but to waive multiple young players that once belonged in their top 20 prospects purely because "this is life"

im serious, because maybe they all do this due to "no other choices" rather than our silly thoughts of terrible asset management... i havent really dug into other teams, so in the future, pls show me when good teams do this as well

And yet he was the main incentive for the Flyers to take Petersen.
How can you say this so confidently?? Lol

The Flyers also got back Helge Grans and a 2nd round pick in the deal. LA also retained on Provorov as part of that deal.

For all we know Walker was a throw in for that trade to offset cap. Maybe the Flyers really liked Grans as a big young RHD prospect? There's a lot happening in that trade and we really don't have any information to support the idea that Walker was the main piece PHI was looking for.

The guy just fetched a first round pick at the deadline and you still don’t think he had value 9 months ago? Grans isn’t worth a first.

that deal was so bad. Kings dumped so many assets for barely any savings. It's an absolute joke they took back any Provorov money. Petersen's cap hit is 3.85 in the minors.

Boomer Gordon, the smartest guy on Sirius NHL radio network, raved about Walker when traded by LA...said right away he was better than way he was treated...if Boomer knows it, so do Flyers

I never said it was good.

He fetched a 1st round pick after having a great year in an elevated role on a bad team.

I know Walker had value 9 months ago but his value GREATLY increased over the last 5 months due to the situation the Flyers put him in and his level of play.

Look it was definitely a bad trade and bad asset management - I'm not arguing otherwise. I'm just calling out that it's arbitrary to declare that Walker was the "main incentive for the Flyers to take Petersen's contract" because we definitely don't know if that's true or not.

Man the Blake Masterclass shilling after that move was nauseating too. “He cleared almost $8 million and only gave up a 2nd and nothing prospect” give me a break. Walker was treated as a cap dump in that deal despite his actual value being higher because the Kings needed to scrape together every last penny for Gavrikov, who had them by the balls in negotiations.

I mean, anyone that lost their shit over Martin Jones getting a 1st from San Jose needs to crucify Rob Blake for this Sean Walker debacle.

This guys asset management is horrendous. Again: anyone can be GM of a tanking team but what the f*** do you do with all the assets, including cap space? Blake has failed miserably.

I will state it again. The front office needs to be completely replaced before the Kings get another cent of my money. Blake, Luc, Bergevin, etc have gutted the franchise for zero gains. It looks like the DC football team for the last 30 years.

With what Washington just gave Sandin for an extension and what the Kings gave to Gavrikov last season, I feel we need to move Roy at the deadline because the Kings won't be able to sign both Byfield and Roy. They will both commands 6m or more and the Kings won't be able to fill out a complete roster again next season if they pay both guys. Move Roy to either fill the prospect/picks cupboard or to get pieces to send back in a trade for a goalie in the offseason.

I feel like Blake is just trying to win one championship and be happy; instead of making a team that is good for awhile.

LOL Same Sean Walker that everyone wanted gone...is now....omg why didn't WE get a 1s for him...this shit is hilarious

Win a championship?? With this team?? Blake, wake the f*** up!!
I'm not saying this is a championship team. Shit, they are barely a playoff team. I'm saying Blake only thinks "one championship and I'm a success". Not a GM that has a vision to be good for multiple years and be a championship contender at the same time. He's living off hopes and prayers instead of common sense.

Hunch they are making cap room for an LD?

Re LD why did Buffalo pick up another LD after having Power and Dahlin?

Maybe we need to work with Buffalo to even up our D
Had this exact thought. Although Samuelsson is injured. Lots of Left shot D on the team. man Roy extended would help Buffalo a ton.

We’ve got like $1.8M max for any kind of upgrade. We could be better at every area. So the most bang for the buck would be at depth forward position.

Fourth line is the biggest area of need when you look at it. Getting more production from 4C should move the needle. So putting a guy like Bjugstad next to Lewis and Lizotte should make the team better on paper at a reasonable cost.

I think fair value is a second round pick if it’s 1 for 1 with no salary retention. So if Arizona retains for two years, then I think a 3 for 1 is feasible.

Let’s say a 2024 third and a fifth, plus Thomas or Moverare for Bjugstad.

In 6 months it’ll be an absolute fact, the same as Faber refusing to ever sign in LA and Vilardi wanting a ‘x-million’ contract :naughty:

So you're mad we didn't get a 1st, but are forgetting he was part of a cap dump with Petersen ?

We were not getting a 1st for him last summer. He played his way to that level this year in Philly and is an overpayment IMO. Burke said it best, teams do stupid things with picks at the trade deadline.

As for Jones, he was flipped by Boston after the Lucic trade, and SJ was willing to pay anything for him. You don't think DL would've taken a 1st if someone other than SJ offered it? There was also a lot of talk about them throwing an offer sheet to get him too. You should be more mad at the entire trade for a guy they knew couldn't sign. Worst DL deal in his time here.

Lets be clear about Walker. He came off a catastrophic knee injury and the Kings had Spence and Clarke upcoming - better and cheaper talent.. ie he had no future here long term. I complained last year why is Walker playing over Spence. The answer was that Blake was trying to up his value to move him.. but he wasnt going to put him on PP1 to do so. So I dont have any problem with how the Walker thing went down as far as him being played and then moved. As for the return on the trade, I think Blake got reamed.. but thats a different issue.
