lol Kings aren’t making any major trades.

Jon Hoven broke down the money on his latest pod. When everyone comes back, which they will, they will likely have to send down Turcotte, Clarke and even waive JAD.

Since Morevare will have to clear waivers again, they likely keep him as the one extra player.

They started the season with 21 players and will end with 21.

Kings will have to move Kayilev (which everyone is saying will be at the draft or the summer) or swap Lizotte for someone like Bjudstad or a gritty forward so they move his 1.6 million.
Kings have no cap to make a major deadline move. Except Blake to hold with current roster. Too many holes to fix with lack of cap for a true run at the playoffs.

Not going to happen, Kings love Lizotte.

Kings will deal with the goalie in the summer. They don't have cap space.

They had just over 200K to start the season with a healthy roster, which they will have soon.
People turned off the salary cap on here. You get it.

Roy, no point in making the D worse heading into the playoffs for a late first & B prospect. If a team goes crazy with an offer, fine. Don't see that happening.

Saros, Ulmark. Both have one year left & need to be extended. Hellebuyck just did 7 years, 8.5M. Swayman is rumored to be looking at 8 years, 7M. Does that mean Ulmark & Saros are going to be in the 7-8.5M for 7 years range? That's a massive number. Saros might be worth it, but had his worst season of his career this year. Ulmark has ZERO success in the playoffs over his career.

Could probably get Korpisalo back at 50% retained cheap. He absolutely bombed in Ottawa.

This makes sense. Would be a huge upgrade on JAD. Would require 50% retention 2X & not Ufa.

PLD, Isn't going anywhere. The best case solution is to put him with players that can help support him. Danault had 6 goals in Montreal? Put him with competent line mates & it's a huge success. Kopi is slow as molasses these days, put him with 55 & 38, problem solved. PLD is big, has a good shot & goes to the net. Put him with guys that are good at D & capitalize on his skills. Not 1G, 3,A.

Reilly Smith being a super complicated trade is exactly why we shouldn't be doing dumb shit

Mantha would have been the better move by far.

Smith would be a good add. Gonna have to be creative to get anything done for sure.

Where's Turcotte?

Edmundson is a downgrade from Englund. Clarke is a downgrade from Roy. I don't think that D would be very good.
In that scenario Turcotte would've been an odd man out with Arvidsson returning and the two new forwards added. Which is unfortunate but necessary IMO.

I love Turcotte and I'm really happy he's playing well but he's not a 4th liner. And there's probably no spot for him in the top 9 if Kempe an Arvidsson are healthy. I'd rather have big physical dudes on my 4th line.

Oh Edmundson sucks this year?? Okay word, maybe Seeler or someone then. Clarke is a downgrade from Roy at this point though yes but the hope would be that with consistently decent ice time / deployment - Clarke would start to round out his game and the production would increase as well.

Seeler just got placed on IR and is week to week. Apparently, plenty of interest in him league wide, however the Flyers seem to be working on extending him. Torts likes him.

No on Roy.
I switched my stand on Roy.
If he is not willing to sign a 2-3 year contract, he should be traded.
He is 29 and is not a part of the the team after Kopitar and Doughty in 2 years.

It will hurt to let him go since he is a staple defender you want to have but this is exactly why he should be taded

Kings need Roy for the playoffs.

Is anyone intimidated by a D core of Anderson, Doughty, Clarke and Gavrikov in the top 4?

Roy is the only dirty Kings D with some attitude besides Englund, who likely barely play big minutes during the playoffs.

Reilly Smith has an AAV of $5M with another year remaining on that contract.

Pittsburgh would have to eat 50%, and the Kings may need to find a third party to take on an additional 25% to really make this feasible, similar to what we saw with the Tanev deal.

That said, I wouldn't give up any significant pieces for Reilly Smith. He is a proven playoff performer, but he's also turning 33 in less than a month.

No one is intimidated by a D core of Anderson, Doughty, Roy and Gavrikov either so it’s irrelevant.

It's so funny - Vegas, when healthy, has a huge D core and that's what the Oilers said was tough for them last year.

What do the Kings do, they bring in one guy - Englund and rotate two young small players - Clarke and Spence.

The Kings are going to be clobbered in the playoffs if they don't add some sandpaper on the 4th line by Friday.

The Oilers have Nurse, Kane, Perry, and still looking for grit. How can the Kings match that?

Just wait till Moverare gets claimed and someone gets banged up

These guys have such little f***ing vision it's actually f***ing insane

Blake looking dumber and dumber with every passing moment

This guy is fired at the end of the year right? There's ZERO process, there's zero result, and teams are repeatedly and severely taking advantage of his poor asset management including destroying AEG's pockets.

Our asset management has been looking pretty atrocious these past few seasons. If we lose both Bjornfot and Moverare for nothing on waivers mainly because of money and being strapped with a reduced roster as a result of the PLD acquisition, that would honestly be inexplicable. Blake really needs to go.

Moverare is the most capable defensive defenseman remaining in the system currently, ironically our prospect depth is turning all LD as all our RD is pretty much now on the main roster but none are even close to stepping on NHL ice really.

Roy would fetch a pretty price, but I doubt he is moved as he would be the biggest signal of Blake's demise outside of missing the playoffs are being routed in the first round. Roy has actually been playing very well and is a high-quality defender. Any contender would dream of having him on their 5-6 and if the Kings want to be competitive they would probably be right in keeping him. The problem is they are likely not competitive and Blake cannot admit that as it is all or nothing. I can't see him selling for futures he won't have a hand in spending with his job on the line.

Moving Roy has absolutely no reason to it other than waiving a white flag. As much as everyone wants Spence and Clarke to be in the lineup uninhibited full-time, it is clear that Roy is superior defensively and actually has decent offensive instincts for a defensive defenseman.
