Can you guys tell Rob Blake to not make any moves until after my surgery today?

So like at noon we can drop the Trenin and Lauzon to LA news.

This is the same guy who said the Kings were potentially in on Gibson right? He of the contract the Kings couldn't afford? The Kings with the assets to make it work that the Ducks wouldn't have been interested in anyway?

Yeah I'm still not sure why people believe this guy.
Nothing he said can't be reasonably deduced. Doesn't mean anything in the long run.

Hoping it all goes well.

Kings and cooking in the same sentence is kinda scary at this point.

Not confident in an opinion what the Kings should do. They don't appear strong enough to win it, but they do hold a playoff spot. "Anything can happen" is not a strategy, but we all have seen what a hot team can do.
Also, hate to lose Roy for nada. Organizationally, they are lacking in high end-ish prospects that can replace their aging vets at rookie or bridge pricing. Moving Roy help recoup some assets, but lessens the "Anything can happen" narrative by removing a top defender.
Not sure what they should do.

Maybe Blake can pull off something like Roy and Grundstrom for Samuelson and Greenway.

Gives us LTIR, size and grit for the rest of the season and next. Also gives us a bigger Mikey Anderson for 7 years at 4.25.

Kings let the kids get a few playoff games in so they understand what they need to do for next season.

That’s a creative idea. Samuelsson is probably being bumped down the depth chart by Byram. Buffalo needs steady pros on the right side and Roy is definitely that.

what will really suck is if roy walks and we get nothing. but by history this is what will probably happen with this mgmt group.
i watch the games and read this forum and just shake my head at the fact the kings were on the track to stay a championship organization.

Most Kings bloggers and media think the Kings will do nothing.

Other teams made moves to get better and Kings already had no chance against Dallas, Edmonton, Vegas or Colorado.

So why waste assets?

Go into the summer - let Roy , Lewis, and Arvidsson walk, give Byfield a contract, figure out another cheap goaltending option, promote Clarke, Turcotte and Thomas full time.

That's basically what they are all saying.

When everyone is healthy, there is no cap room. Kayilev has more value to trade in the summer.

Sadly, this is what Blake did to himself. See you all next October!

Pretty sure the bloggers are all reporting that nothing is going to happen because Blake learned that lesson. Don't get everyone sold on a trade that hasn't happened yet. Saying he's going to get a physical depth player is easy. Lots of options. Saying he's going to land a top 5 goalie or top 6 player is more difficult because there aren't as many options.

Love Vegas picking up Hanifin. Then rumored to extend him. Price is reasonable with an extension. Picking up core pieces with your first is much better than a pure rental.

Edit: Maybe tell Arvidsson to slip on one of the Mayors In n Out wrappers & have a magic recovery in the first round while we're at it.

I think if they feel they are short of getting out of the 2nd round, which they likely are, they need to move Roy. Even if that means we don’t get out of the 1st round, if the return is a 1st +. That first then he ones a valuable piece either at the draft table or to help fill holes in the roster. I think trading Roy becomes even more prudent with how everyone else has tooled up. It’s the wrong moment to go all in.

I think I’d live with a valiant 1st round exit if Blake makes a strategic decision to sell high on certain assets now. Roy definitely, plus if the think Byfield can play C next year ( which I think he can) Danault. Trading both give us assets plus valuable draft capital. Buying out PLD is not plausible before anyone says it.

No matter what, I don't think that the moves are going to be significant, to be honest. Not that I believe anything Blake says, but I do believe that they don't have much wiggle room, they made their bed with this team and are nailed to the cap ceiling, and I am expecting a minor change in the likes of a middling winger, journeyman goaltender, and/or throw-in defenseman. The worst they could do is shed salary like trading Roy and our 1st for a rental in my mind which I think is unlikely even with Blake's back to the wall. I am expecting 2nd-5th round picks from either 24/25 (considering we are missing a few from 24), prospects, and roster players for a middling rental boost that will do nothing and end in Blake's firing.
