Was in Thailand 2+ months and watched games on NHLTV at 8 to 11 am there.
Many talk about the need for a legit high calibre goalie...and then now to possibly replace Kempe....and hope that Mikey Anderson is back soon.
It makes no sense to trade a #1 and / or futures, to get a Tarasenko, Toffoli? or a top 6 winger,
with so many issues, holes, to try to make the playoffs, only to lose in round 1 again.
I think this team would have a chance in the playoffs...possibly winning a round, if Kempe, Arvy, Anderson were all healthy, AND a few players were really pushing their limits, but no one really is...except Byfield. Even DD and Gavrikov both had poor games this trip. Can't have that, from those 2 in 'must win' games!?
And Danault making 2 tape to tape passes on Calgary sticks...and PL's lackluster last 2 games.
What I wanted to add, is I now believe the 4th line is among the worst of all 32 teams and a big problem. Lewis. Good on the PK! Just meh at everything else. Can skate a shift and not be a liability. This is not a great thing. He's not a problem, but line 4 needs size, toughness, and something that has a little more than what Lewis is at 36. JAD? Most vanilla player since Shore and probably less talented than Nick was. That's not good. No size, no toughness, has he knocked a single player on his azz this year? Sure, he can play all forward positions and come in and not be a liability, but the goal is to NOT have players that their best known attribute is "well liked, good guy and not a liability'
Lizotte. F+ grade. Effort, a little tenacious, minus ever truly being physically imposing ever....and still falling down and matters not that he gets up...he's become almost worthless. I have not seen a top 9 offensive (yes, he's line 4, but every NHL player should have some modicum of skill and be able to make plays) play from him since early December. I want players that their last excellent play was no more than 2 periods ago, not 3 months.
Could any of these 3, skate on a Conf Finalist Team? (this should be the measure of the team you're building and icing) Hell no. No toughness. Any forward should love to get out on the ice, when these 3 are on it! Grundstrom? Geez. He's even worse than those 3.
Why be buyers, with all of these issues?
Sell, Sell, Sell.
Roy. for starters. Get a #1. This year's crop pretty good.
Maybe Kaliyev as well, depending on return. Or he's part of package.
The Kings are now very thin with top 6 potential forward prospects.
Ziemmer...maybe Pinelli. That's it. Conmy a potential 'Cammalleri light' home run
longshot.
As much as anyone, would love a:
PLD (25% retained) ROY, KALIYEV +1 2025 (try to keep 2024 #1, use 24 if a must have and would add more if needed...Pinelli? Would love to jettison Lizotte)
Brady Tkachuk + Mathieu Joseph (he's emerged, still only 27 and this yr 10 g 19 a and Kings need forwards, esp if Kaliyev moved as well)
PLD can use his French more in Ohhh-tuh-wah.

Love the idea of getting 2 forwards...14-22 range?
Tij Iginla
Sacha Boisvert
Emil Hemming
Michael Hage
Ryder Ritchie
Trevor Connelly
Igor Chernyshov (only if they can get him to North America)
Love Cole Eiserman, that will l go 7-10 and if they could trade up.
Pretty good draft class.
