If Juice and RV are LTIR’er for a solid chunk then you can find a way to fit Saros through the regular season. A first, second, Kaliyev and Turcotte might get that done.

A team that needs to score doesn't trade for a goalie. Saros is so overated. I rather take a swing at Fleury for a mid prospect or pick, and save the other assets on something they need [don't trade the 1st].

Saros is a true starter. A lot of the 'overrated' 'doesn't move the needle' discourse is focused on right now alone and reminds me of people calling Demko* overrated last year or Hellebuyck prior, it's like lots of this forum has forgotten what a true workhorse starter means vs. patchwork horse shit

*legitimate concerns about his injuries nonwithstanding

Now I'm not saying I would make the move or not, but let's not pretend Saros isn't an upgrade now AND later. Ther'es value in confidence and stability instead of hoping for pixie dust from six different goalies.

It's not the time nor team to buy a goalie, but in principle yeah saros is better than his current numbers and is also a guy who's easy to see going on a heater into the playoffs on a new club

How much do you think he wants in two years as a 30 year old goalie going for (most likely) a retirement contract?

Hard to say but whatever it is it’s surely not worse than 2 more years of grabbing league minimum goalies and hoping for a comet

The whole “get a budget goalie” thing can work when you have multiple generational talents and high draft picks making an impact such that your roster is over performing its cap value

It doesn’t work when you overpay vets and ride them into the ground while your blue chip prospects rot

I find it amusing that you feel a birthday is criteria to be in the lineup. Not that I'm against Turcotte playing, but this is professional sports, not elementary school.
Correct, wow so knowledgeable! Yes it's not an elementary where your brain still is but it is a business with "employees". To keep them *happy sometimes you need to scratch the worst player in a kings sweater since John Zieler. And give the younger, overall better player with more upside confidence the company gives 2 shits about you. And give the team a better chance to win at the end of the day. Personally I like a little treat on my birthday because it's a special day for a special little guy.

Jordan Eberle, Tyler Toffoli, Tyler Johnson, Anthony Duclair, Joel Armia, Vladimir Tarasenko, Jake Guentzel, Jordan Greenway, who will it be.

Well we won’t need to even show up to the draft now.

Blake had gone all in for the third year in a row with questionable goaltending. Somebody tell this jackass he never finished the rebuild and quit trading 1st rounders!

I don’t even know who he’d go for? No one would really move the needle enough unless it was a tom wilson or Lawson Crouse type. That would take a big over payment if he would do that.

Maybe fix the D and goaltendending first

I would love Crouse and Vejmelka. I know Vej numbers suck but he is relatively cheap and could use a fresh start with a better defence.

Vilardi would be second on the team in points per game, tied with Kopitar and Fiala and above Byfield. He’s outscoring Dubois in 20+ fewer games played.
Ah yes, the PPG argument with Vilardi where his PPG is artificially inflated after missing half the season so far because he got flattened by strong man Lizotte.

Solid attempt at stat picking. Vilardi could put up 100 points in a full season. Yeah.

You can't teach size. Josh Anderson & Risto, converted to wing, are perfect. Size, cheap what else do you want?
:naughty:

He’s got more points than Dubois straight up. The guy he was traded for. No stats to pick there.

Vilardi is getting carried by WPG offensive players.

PL was playing for a coach that got fired because he got stuck with two players that didn't score a goal in 50 games. The PP coach took over & figured it out in a week.

Anyways, going off career stats PL is the better player & it's not even close

Vilardi for the King's regular seasons 6 years after being drafted
155 games. 26 games per year
42 goals. 7 Goals per year
37 assist. 6 assist per year

Cashed out at the correct time.

Edit: Except for helping land PL, Vilardi was a complete waste of time for LA.

So you talk to me about cherry-picking stats and then you post this bullshit? Kings call up Vilardi in 2019-20, then COVID cancels the season. The 2020-21 season starts late because of COVID and Vilardi plays 54/56 games. In 2021-22, the Kings inexplicably send Vilardi to Ontario where all he does is score at a point-per-game pace before calling him up to end the season. Finally, last season, they play Vilardi and he scores 41 points in 63 games.

Come on.

155 games in 6 years after being drafted. It's a miracle King's got anything for him.
