Winnipeg would be the best case scenario for the Kings. We would avoid the Oilers in either of the first two rounds and Winnipeg won’t be able to take advantage of the weaknesses the Kings have the same way that Edmonton, Colorado and Vancouver would. As much as I like my boy Kyle Connor, he’s definitely a few levels below what those other teams have as far as game breakers up front. Winnipeg is similar to the Kings, kind of a committee approach, they just have better goaltending. The Kings would be dogs, but it wouldn’t be as big as vs those other teams.

More a comment on this being about the 3rd or 4th year this team needs to add toughness. The 2nd or 3rd year they should have traded Kaliev, and the 2nd year they need to add a veteran goalie.
Oh for sure. The needs of this club have gone unaddressed for a while.

That's funny, I follow Zack MacEwen on IG and he also follows and keeps liking all the LA Kings IG posts...guess he misses it here...
maybe just misses playing in the NHL

Best case scenario would be the oilers. Because either Blake gets fired for failing to them again, or the kings finally get their revenge. There’s no better realistic match up for this organizationally.

Vilardi gets f***in 30 points in that series and I'll never believe otherwise

Kings 5x5 pts/60 in descending order

Agreed. Either they beat those ars-holes…or it’s another nail on Blake with a 3rd straight 1st round exit to the same team.

Dallas: Stankoven goal on his bday
L.A: Turcotte scratched on his bday

Team is such poorly managed, no trust for the rookies, Hiller still playing 1-3-1, PLD is a loser, JAD is on the roster, Kalyiev and a 1st will get traded for a francophone. That's the Kings identity.

Did I miss anything

No shit. I am a fan of JAD as the 13th forward who comes in every now and then, but Turcotte and Kaliyev should be playing over him.

I find it amusing that you feel a birthday is criteria to be in the lineup. Not that I'm against Turcotte playing, but this is professional sports, not elementary school.

They won’t do it, but bench Englund for the night and run

Roy-Doughty
Gavrikov-Clarke
Moverare-Spence

If Kempe is out, put Clarke on the left side half wall for PP1 with doughty on the point.

Or do that on PP2 with Clarke on the left and Spence on point.

josh anderson of montreal and his contract as negotiated by by our very own marc bergevin, are one of the biggest standing jokes in the nhl.
he is trevor lewis as a forward. and his contract is instructive of what a fool marc bergevin is.

Welp Kempe is returning to LA. Doesn’t sound promising.
LTIR until playoffs? If it’s the same for Arvidsson and Anderson that would give the team 11-12 million in cap space at the deadline.

Trade Roy, and be a third party broker for cap space. See if they can pick up a LD, goalie, and a 3/4 line winger that hits and PKs.

I’d see if he was available at 3mil for Grunstrom and Lizotte, maybe toss in a late round pick if needed

Alternatively...

Trade Roy for a 1st+ and trade anyone else who's on an expiring contract (Lizotte and Grundstrom if they have value) and then just use the rest of the season to play guys like Turcotte, Clarke, Kaliyev, Fagemo, etc to evaluate their potential and try to play spoiler in the playoffs (assuming they still make it).

No true #1 goalie. Kopi playing hurt / slowing down. Kempe injured. Anderson injured. Arvidsson injured. Lack of depth/strength at LHD. Lack of toughness throughout the lineup in general. I just don't see why the Kings would still be buyers at the deadline given the current situation.

As long as they don’t just sit on Roy and let him walk for nothing, bad asset management otherwise. So that is probably what will happen

I think having more cap space for this season is a negative at this point. I’m terrified to see what Blake cooks up if he has $11-12 million to work with.

I can see them pulling a Vegas and going all in but at what cost? Don’t trust Blake at all. Also, we gotta make the playoffs first otherwise what’s the point.
