Lmaooo I am not taking pointers from the guy who thought Sturm and McLellan were amazing. Also I am reserving judgment on Byfield until he plays top 6 center. Until then he’s improved for sure but it’s laughable to think he’s out of the woods.
you have this unhealthy hate for byfield.

I’m happy he’s doing better, he’s not playing center, and he isn’t franchise material yet and he might not be. I’m worried about that. I don’t have my head in the sand like some of you. My biggest concern is the kings heading into another rebuild once Kopitar leaves because no one can fill his shoes still.

That’s fair. He was drafted at #2 with the expectation that he becomes a franchise C. He’s going to be elite but the position is not a given. I still confidently think he will get there but your concern isn’t unreasonable

LTIR and season long cap space accrual is pretty straight forward.... until you start factoring in bonus pools.

That's when I lose the thread completely.

What was the benefit of not placing Lizotte on LTIR weeks ago?

Not suggesting it was the right or wrong thing to do for the cap, but the laymen in me wonders why they have been waiting.

i'm spitballing but i imagine you have to be able to prove to the league that the injury is "long term" whatever that means in their parlance. if you're waiting a week for swelling to go down in order to do scans which may or may not be conclusive etc etc you probably have a few weeks of wiggle room there before you're even sure yourself

@Sol don’t take this the wrong way but sometimes I wonder if you aren’t schizophrenic and axl is one of your other personalities. You enjoy arguing with that guy way too much. :biglaugh:
Bro if I don’t respond to him here he will blow up my PM instead. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t lol

Maybe, but as the NHL evolves more and more, C,LW,RW tends to only matter on faceoffs

This isn't even directed at you John, it's kind of expected you'd make outlandish comments. But how on earth did people agree with this? Kopitar being the top flight center under TM, being essentially the only talent besides Frolov. The Kings today are the most talented group of forwards they've ever had while being an offensive structured team. How is this even comparable to you guys? Kopitar was playing in a lower scoring era than now, all while being the go to guy on the team and it wasnt even close. Byfield has the luxury of playing with Kopitar and Kempe, both point producers. Byfield hasn't even played center yet and people think he has more upside than Kopitar when he hasn't even played his required position? Forget the points, you guys seriously compare him to Kopitar? The disrespect to Kopitar is insane. Absolute insanity. Anyone who watched both players during their draft knows that Kopitar has been a monster in every regime and playstyle while having to work with so little talent.
Did you read the post?

They have already discussed it as a possibility though, so I would imagine its more cap related than the injury itself.

I'm not honestly sure

I know (think) that you can retroactively assign someone to LTIR so while I can't think of any specific benefit to not doing it I can't think of any specific negative cost of NOT doing it.

I dunno.

I am always amazed just how underrated/under-appreciated Kopitar is by so many Kings fans. I remember watching other teams have guys like Fedorov, Yzerman, Sakic and Modano and thinking how lucky those fans were. Then we get a guy who was pretty damn close to that level, a true game-changing 200 foot star 1C from the moment he stepped on NHL ice as a teenager. He was the biggest reason this franchise was able to climb to a level that many here thought would never happen, not once but twice. But now towards the end there are just some weird weird takes. Worship of players who were never close to being as good as Kopitar on those cup teams are given more credit? Players who aren’t close to what AK was are compared as equals.

When Kopitar was 21 the Kings were horrible, a bottom 5 roster in the league, he was the #1 C and lead the team in scoring by 7 points over the 2nd place guy and 13 over third. The Kings finished 3rd to last with 207 goals, of which Kopitar scored or assisted on 32% of them. No, somebody who is 4th in scoring, playing with better line mates and a less challenging position accounting for 24% of the teams goals is not the same thing. It was also a much less offensive oriented league then, Kopitar finished 45th in scoring, Byfield currently sits at 91. Using just raw numbers to try and compare the two at 21 would be like doing the same with Kirk Cousins and John Elway.

My hope is that when it’s over for AK, and again I hope it’s sooner than later, there will be more of an awakening to just how great he was, from the moment he stepped on the ice for this team, and the weird attempts to compare him to lesser players, which have gone on here for years will stop and people will appreciate what we got to witness for these almost 2 decades.

It’s probably going to be a long long long time until we ever have a player as good as AK was.

You sure the “pm”s aren’t just in your head??? lol.

No, I can vouch for Sol, the PM's from Axl are a real thing, they are pure comedy.

Earlier in the year it was asking me to come on here and tell everyone how wrong I was on Blake.

He then disappeared for a long time (wonder why) but then did hit me up after Saturday's game (the Kings 4th win in 18 games) to call me wrong about the Kings and a fake fan.

Friedman mentioned if the Kings go after Saros it would be Kayilev and a young D.

Wonder if the Kings would move Spence and Kayilev and move Clarke into the top 6 and re-sign Roy.

That's a lot of cash coming in so Kings would def have to walk on Arvidsson, Lizotte, Grundstrom, Copley and Talbot to save money.
It is allot of cash - trade Fail while he still has value.

Nice to see the Kings at 17th in Wheeler's latest prospect rankings.

The Blake stroking on this board after the 2019 and 20 drafts is classic. "Better than Lombardi".

Yeah i know. I used to get them too before I blocked him. Doesn't mean they still couldn't be the same person ;)
