I do too. I think another 5 losses ensures it. The best part of this season will be the firing of these losers. Fire the scouts too.
I think our scouts have done just fine. Issue is they are being trumped (Turcotte) or prospects are being dealt.

I mean at this point it's clear something had to change. I'm all for trying it, it can't be much worse even though it makes the trade even more of a joke in retrospect.

My prediction is TM won't trust Byfield at center and Kopitar's minutes will go up.
oh that line's gonna be benched before you can blink an eye

todd thinks he has mcdavid and draisaitl still

Sickens me that PLD gets promoted to top line minutes and Byfield gets demoted to third line minutes despite doing nothing wrong.
I see it as more of a promotion of QB.. The 1st line has decayed as the season has progressed. I think QB needs away from Kopitar and he has a chance to show he can be a center now. PLD is a boat anchor and this minimizes his negative impact. It also will show if he can produce with skilled players next to him and if not expose him even more.

That's rather bold my man. Thank god we have no cap space to make anything worth a damn come back.

Is it? they were slinging 1sts even before they thought the window was truly open

if anything this season they were gonna likely go scorched earth even before getting desperate

Todd peaked as a very good assistant coach. I feel like he is a smart man and knows hockey which is why organizations keep him around.

However…. He 100% gets caught watching games and isn’t a fast thinker and does not know how to be assertive in the moment. In the office or hindsight he can break down a play as good as anyone. However, he cannot make a split second adjustment, call a timely timeout, or adjust the pairings on the fly.

Even his delivery in post games scrums is slow methodical and measured. He has no feel for the game! He’s better off breaking down tape, working on things in practice, or consulting with someone to implement changes!
This is probably the best summary of TM ive read recently esp "Isn’t a fast thinker and does not know how to be assertive in the moment". Explains why he doesnt call timeouts. TM isnt a field general.. he's maybe a war planner you have in an office somewhere (if that)

That's a fair point. We'll see how the minutes are managed, but I don't have confidence McLellan will see things the way you do.

I just think they are trying to get PLD going to the detriment of Byfield.

Maybe that is the motivation, but by accident I think it may help Byfield emerge even more. Laf has some serious IQ and so does QB.. maybe that part of the line can click. JAD is going to hurt that line.

This might be the last step before PLD sits for Turcotte.

Plus, I predicted Byfield would be centering the Kings most productive line by April so this gets that ball rolling.
Byfield this season rarely has made any of the mistakes he was making last season...esp turnovers in the neutral zone. Laf is a good puck carrier as well.. i think between the both of them they can get some good possession going in the o-zone. His FO win% is suspect (< 40%) - which to me is not as big a deal in the reg season but is a problem if he doesnt improve by playoffs.

it's an easy enough spin for the org to say that "byfield is ready for this responsibility" and ignore the PLD reasoning

i just wish if we were committing to giving PLD the bump, do something like
80-11-9
12-24-34
78-55-22
91-61-68

no reason jad should be drawing in over fagemo tbh

The trade was a joke when it first was made/announced. The only ones supporting it were either Blake apologists or way overly optimistic people (desperately hoping Blake knew what he was doing). Even posters/fans from other teams laughed at the Kings for the trade & extension by Blake.

There is no surprise with anything PLD related right now. It's playing out exactly how anyone in the real world would think it would -- and will continue to do so. If you are surprised, then you were not paying attention to PLD prior to becoming a King.
