You don't have a starting goalie, so it's tough to argue that a Vezina finalist at 3.08M doesn't give a team in a semi-win now mode value.

If you wanted to get crazy, WPG signs PLD for 1x8M prior to the trade and retains 50% on THAT, then he extends 7x8M on Jan 1. You'd actually be CREATING cap space. The only glitch is getting PLD to accept the risk of a career ending injury in the first three months of the season

I would consider trading Byfield,Durzi and the 2024 1st in the right deal. I never liked the Byfield hype but always wanted him to succeed since the Kings drafted him. I feel he isn't a first line player and will probably be at best a 2nd line center or 3rd line center.

Itd be Danault. Kopitars deal ends after next season so he'll either retire or take considerably less as well as the cap going up.

Blake is likely trading Arvidsson, less likely with Durzi and not trading Moore and Spence because they are not worth much, and Spence is cheap and not waiver eligible.

I would like to see Lizotte and Grundstrom traded/dumped for cap space also.

This is not what is going on with Blake trying to get an excuse to extend TMac and earn his own.
He is trying to win now and the Kings are coming off their second playoffs in a row and a 104 point season.
Never try to hot wire a tank it has external detonation switch that will be activated when you try to drive it away.

Idk, with us trading all 3 of Scheif, Helle and PLD, we're probably getting more futures in total than salaried players. So we can probably afford to take extra salary on one of the deals to get better value. Especially if we buy out or trade Wheeler.

Feel free to browse all Blake interviews of the past 2 years if you have time.

If Vilardi would be on the table, he would have be traded when they tried to upgrade the team to Kopitars likings.

The fact that Vilardi wasn't included in a deal around a player like Fiala should make you think what is actually needed to trade for him.
I give you a tip, the whole Jets organization wouldn't be enough since you are cruising for a rebuild
