Speculation: Kyper on Knies value that he’s hearing

I think GMs will do that on their own with Knies, he fits the archetype for a player someone will overpay for
If his shots go up to the 200 range he's easily a 30 goal scorer, if he gets up to 250 he's scoring 40. Timo Meier had 269 on a terrible Devils team and only had 24 goals.

A few GMs will have figured this out and will see him as trading for a 40 goal scorer who's 230+ pounds. He's in the top 30% of forwards since he's entered the league for bursts of speed 18-20 and 20-22 MPH. He is a unicorn in the NHL at 23 years old with a very affordable cap hit and a long time left on that contract where you get his best years.

It's just the physical profile and numbers make him a rare item and thus people who want that will have to pay for it. Toronto has Robertson and Macelli who are little dangler types, they have two, one team has two of them...How many teams have a guy who's in the top third of skating speed at 230 pounds at 23? Who has a top line skill level?

Kyper is Eklund with a tv show.
I think people mistake his "this is what I would do, or they should do" takes for "this is what's going to happen." I don't disagree with him that getting three good pieces would be good for the Leafs, but I doubt it's happening.

You need to watch the video. Specifically stated this is what’s being offered and discussed. Top 10 pick, first pairing dman, another piece. And if you watch Nick at all you actually can tell when he’s excited about something because he “knows” some info. He really was into this, so I think there is some validity. Whether it happens or not are two different things though. In the end, unless it’s an absolutely ridiculous overpayment, I don’t think they have the appetite to move him for a “fair” deal.

A top 10 pick *and* a top pairing defenseman *and* something else seems like a massive overpay.

I guess it depends what the definition of "top pairing defenseman" is, though. But if we're talking about a legitimate #1D *and* a top 10 pick, that's a steep price for a winger who hasn't topped 30 goals or 70 points yet.

I watch too much of him, and he's been talking about trading Matthews or Nylander and, now, Knies for this three piece package. I'm not saying there's no validity, but I don't think he's close to new management in Toronto (aside from Sundin).

I still think the Leafs need a more mobile puck moving defenseman, if the goal is to compete for the playoffs, as that's not what Raddysh brings. Not sure if that requires trading Knies.
Keep Mo, hes got wheels, can produce, cant defend but im not talking about having him kill a 5 on 3, I just want the leafs to be able to have more than one defensive pairings with a guy who can score lol.
That all depends.

Are the Leafs getting this Raddysh,

Or are they getting this Raddysh,

30+ year old D-men coming off career years don't have a great track record of maintaining that level of play.
My guess is somewhere inbetween obviously, He has good underlying numbers, stepped up big in Hedman's absence. People are saying "Hes not gonna have Kucherov passing to him anymore" but the leafs arent some barron wasteland for scoring lol

4th overall + 2027 1st (worst of 3) + 2026 2nd.

Probably overpay ; but who knows if teams get trade happy after the Tkachuk deal.

Mckenna + Stenberg/Carels/Verhoeff. Is an incredible build in one swoop

Look what Brady just got traded for. He is not a better player than Knies.

I think there is little to no chance of Toronto trading a 23 year-old, 6’3” 230 pound 1st line power forward. It’s gonna take a massive overpayment.

It isn't just a steep price, it's one of the bigger overpays possible lol. And I'm someone who loves Knies

If we can get a top pair guy similar in age for Knies 1 for 1 that's a major win (somoene like Harley would be cool). Adding a top 10 pick to that is crazy

Brady is on a different level from Knies, and has been for some time.

USA hockey sure agrees with that evaluation as well.

Agree on value.
absolutely; it would take an overpayment. What level of overpayment? Knock your socks off. And even then , I hope they consider decline.

I was right about Knies being better than Brady. More valuable than Brady. I had NUMEROUS posts/topics/polls locked.

This is my time to shine. I’ve earned it baby.
Knies is on a better contract, and is younger.

Those are the only two things that he has on Brady.

“This is my time to shine” is an absolutely insane thing to say on a message board lol

They are not trading him for just a pick. It would need a guy that has already developed in the same age range as him plus the pick at a minimum.

Top pairing D-Man versus Top line winger, value always favors the D-Man unless it's a low end top pairing guy and an elite (Top 10) winger.

So the fact that somehow you're supposed to add a 1st and a prospect to the more valuable piece is hilarious.
