I am as critical of Kyle Dubas as anybody on HFBOARDS but this is JFJ literally every single thing he did after 2004 was bad, literally all of it.

Soft, yes. Tiny, what?
Hyman(6'1) Matthews(6'3) Marner (6'0)
Galchenyuk (6'1) Tavares (6'1) Nylander (6'0)
Mikheyev (6'2) Kerfoot (5'10) Simmonds (6'2)
Thornton (6'4) Engvall (6'5) Spezza (6'3)
Foligno (6'0) Brooks (5'10)

Rielly (6'1) Brodie (6'1)
Muzzin (6'3) Holl (6'4)
Dermott (6'0) Bogosian (6'2)
I dont see a lot of tiny in there anywhere. In fact we are on par with the rest of the league with a height avg of 6'1.
Elite Prospects - Team Comparison in NHL

Tampa won with 6 of their 13 forwards on their cup run being 5'11 and under. If our team played with the same amount of balls as the lightning, we would be as dominant as we were during the season.

On the Marlies, for every Petan added, he also added guys like Archibald, Gaudet, Rubins, Sabourin, Elyunik, Brazeau, Pooley, who are all 6'3 and bigger. So again not small. Seeing as I dont ever see you in the marlies/prospects or draft threads, I'm going to assume you don't know anything about our prospects, former prospects or other teams prospects. Our current prospect pool is well regarded despite not having 1st round picks.

My gosh guys, we're complaining about Ron freaking Hainsey when our current top 4 consists of Rielly, Brodie and Muzzin?? Dermott, Holl, Sandin and Liljegren fill out the rest with UFA still ahead of us to make it more solid. This is painful, guys, seriously.
So breaking up our 1st pairing that worked well and had Reily thriving...... Then replacing that 1d with Cody Ceci should be applauded?

Only in leaf land is that acceptable. Which is why were professional losers.

Hainsey was pretty bad during that season with Ottawa..there's a reason he retired right after it
Don't really care what he did in Ottawa. He was working well here with our top dman. I repeat.... Career year for Reily. At a time we lacked a veteran presence.

Were you in hibernation for the last year, cause Dubas plucked the perfect partner for Rielly and locked him in for the next 4 years. Keep complaining though, it's what you do best.

He lasted one more year on one of the worst teams in the league and then vanished, get over it. He gone.

Brodie on the top pairing is miles better than Hainsey. That's probably why nobody else actually gives a shit

Brodie was never part of the Hainsey timeline. He just came on this season. Development of Reily and giving him a steady partner is worth giving a shit about.

Why do you guys struggle with timeline so much? Brodie had nothing to do with letting Hainsey walk. In case you didn't realize... We failed pre Brodie. And with Brodie fire that fact :) You resign Hainsey when your top pair is geling. Don't fix it if it ain't broken is a saying for a reason. Dubas does literally the exact opposite all the time.

Delivers what exactly?
Not a winning Team.
We can all see that.

His move for Jared McCann is what I meant when I said he delivers.

This is a great move. McCann is a potential 20 goal scorer / 0.5 PPG game who is still only 25 and has room to grow his game more.

His moves are measured and very logical. Hope this one works out!

He was 40 years old at.that point and was almost finished as a player. Getting a younger replacement may have been a smarter path, but Hainsey himself wasnt worth resigning. His goose was cooked at that point.

Just get over it, we're better off with what we have now, why are you still talking about two years ago?

Codi Ceci was far worse. Again....if it ain't broke......something something :)

I"m over it. This is literally a thread discussing mistakes he made. I'm just giving one.

Edit: My bad...thought this was the Dubas biggest mistake thread :)

Agreed.

The one of numerous blunders nobody seems to speak about is letting Hainsey walk. Our home grown dman in Reilz had a career year playing with Ron. We had a pretty solid top pair with a stay at home defenseman that let Reily open it up a bit. Just like McBackup.... Nuking a sure thing to roll the dice on muh youth. Cody freaking Cici replaced him on the top pair so we could get Barrie? Haha.

Letting Hainsey walk was so stupid. His most underrated blunder imho
Hainsey is a pylon, Barrie had a career off year (probably due to Babcock) as he was back to form with Edmonton.

Dubas is better than JFJ.

But if he doesn't reach his ceiling (Marner/Matthews/Tavares group failing to do anything in the playoffs) his legacy can end up being Stellick v2.0.
