I would have much rather kept Dubas (and Spezza etc) over Shanahan.

We're set up to mess everything up really bad. I can imagine us losing matthews for nothing if they're not careful. The timeline is crazy here.

What exactly does Shanahan do here? I'm sure there are things but he sure seems irrelevant.

Anyone else feel like we dodged a bullet? I am so happy he isn't coming back. My hope for a cup here in Toronto just tripled at least.
A happy accident...

I think what transpired was actually revelatory, and perhaps for Shanahan as well.

I disagree with one member who said Shanahan is now scrambling. Firstly because Shanahan indicated that as soon as Dubas publicly stated his uncertainty (for any of the reasons provided) he began to think about alternatives - still committed and apparently waiting for confirmation from Dubas' side, but, thinking instantly about the best alternatives for the Maple Leafs. That indicates profoundly detached deliberation.

Shanahan also indicated he'll be working with Pridham, that there's a great system in place, and that they are preparing as they normally do.

I can't help but wonder, if what Shanahan didn't voice was the same, "...wait...wait a minute..." realization some of us surely experienced that Kyle Dubas sounded like a very talented spoiled brat who hadn't achieved a thing but was manipulating leverage as though he did and behaved in a somewhat confrontational "in control of the situation" fashion.

Does it ever ring familiar.

I don't know where Spezza fits into all this. He was a nice veteran soldier on the ice and a rookie in the front office staff but hardly a mover and shaker in his own right.

Is it a measure of the schism in the organization?

Tooth & Nail - Revelry
Amber Lager - 5.6% ABV

Not too bad.

Is it wrong that I’m finding shedding Dubasite posters as a positive for not bringing back Dubas?

The proverbial silver lining, if you will….. of course they will never leave.

They will just nitpick everything done by the incoming GM through their salt-rimmed Dubas goggles….
I doubt it, but some my be the new whining fringe like the antidubasite posters now.

So who is unhappy? That Dubas wasn't resigned?
Are they upset at Dubas or Shanny?

They wanted Shanny to just pay Dubas absurd money while holding a gun to the orgs head?

It's no surprise. Dubas was well liked. He also brought in the majority, if not everyone, in their current roles. Pridham probably being one of them not overly happy.

I'm sure there were plenty of unhappy people when Brian Burke was fired at the time.

good riddance. Normal world he would have been fired the day he said he would start replacing people with the wrong skin color to his liking. And the entire front office along with him.

If Dubas made it soft for the players, I could just imagine how he made it for his staff.

There's a difference between being respectful and having a tough culture vs being respectful and it being easy every day.

I'd guess his staff know the easy times are gone. Good for shanny to throw a bomb in there. It was needed.

While many here are celebrating the removal of Dubas.

The front office is probably in shambles because it sure as certain seems like the brass didn't have any contingency plan at a very critical time so...

The antidubasite posters have been right all along. To find out that he is a scumbag that used the family card to try to extort more money out of the guy who gave him a start and his dream job shows me what kind of character the guy has. But feel free to follow the great Dubas cause he is going to win a cup or 3 elsewhere.

The Dubas arrogance and sense of entitlement permeates top-down into all levels of the organization.

It is clear now that Dubas is the real problem and this is coming from a fan of his…. prior to today’s revelations.

Anyone that wants to go with Dubas is welcome to go. Dubas overplayed his hand. He screwed himself. Has no one else to blame but himself.

If what Shanny is saying is true, I don’t know how anyone else comes to a different conclusion. You don’t cave in and give Dubas more money and power after what he just pulled.

And if his subordinates can’t see that and are pissed, go F yourself.

I point them to this tweet;

It’s the Toronto Maple Leafs not Kyle Dubas Maple Leafs.
