Adios KD. A year too late for various reasons but the loss to the Stanley Cup finalist Bolts made them look closer than ever and that was with a collapsing Campbell in net. It would have been nice to see what a different coach could have done before dumping the GM breaking up the core but that was Kyle's choice so it is what it is.

I wish him well and good luck to whoever signs on to address the Big 3 conundrum. As I mentioned in another thread I suspect one of them will make it easy to select who is the piece to move. Exciting times in Leafland.

True, but we hear alot of leaf fans say hey, we have buckets of money, and this should fix everything, and here we are.....
Power at the top is where this all broke down, The ShanaPlan has hit a real snag.

I've said it many times in this thread. It is about Power, Dubas didn't want to have to run things by Shanahan anymore. And made that part of his contract demands. Shanny said no.

Dubas "Here's my counter offer!"

Shanny "Here's ours!"

Came back with a new financial package

ya, unless it is performance-based, I am more pro-Shanahan.

Shitty way to go, I understand wanting more money as a position because for the most part, I think he is a good GM, but you have to base it around performance, no other way to go when you have had little success.

Not a fan of this scenario assuming it is purely money related.

I wasn't able to watch so if it is purely financial that is bad unless it is performance-based, which then, who cares.

I just saw he came back with a different package/contract. I'd be curious to see the terms regardless.

I'm more pro-Shanahan if it is strictly money, although he is an idiot too.

Yeah Shanny does not look good in this either. But it was clear he asked for more money;

* On Thursday, Kyle informed Shanahan that his agent would reach out - agent presented a new financial package to the team, and before dinner, got an email from Kyle saying he wanted to continue being GM of the Maple Leafs. Admits though, that by then, he had already been thinking about the future of the Maple Leafs with a different GM.

From the sounds of how this went down, MLSE stalled, they decided they wanted Dubas back, Dubas wanted to come back, and then Shanny started making bad decisions on emotion, and now we're in a huge mess at a critical time and have no plan. We're going back to the clown show era.

Insane that you'd hire someone to manage a team and then do it yourself.

If this is the case, I guess Dubas may be a good or bad GM and we will never know.

No different than Masai and Bobby Webster. You have a guy who does the job and a boss. That seems normal. If Dubas wanted more control that’s fine too. He didn’t get it.
