Would Kyle last 5 years with ineptude performance in Boston or Vegas?
New York Yankees, Byern Munich?
Kyle got a lot of rope here, a lot of benefit of the doubt

You didn't have the balls to fire a coach that lost to a zamboni driver, lost 3-1 in a series

Coming back and asking for more after you played the family card….couldn’t be a worse look for Dubas. He just cemented his legacy in TO and apparently every venue online is full on in Shanny’s corner. What a way to go out, he just undid so much good will.

Insane that you'd hire someone to manage a team and then do it yourself.

If this is the case, I guess Dubas may be a good or bad GM and we will never know.
See that's great for you. Then Dubas gets all the credit with none of the blame.

After hearing Shanahan's version of the story, I believe he made the right call.

Dubas didn't demonstrate a firm commitment to staying here quick enough. Once he planted the seed of doubt in Shanahan's mind and the MLSE board, he sealed his fate in Toronto.

Let's move forward with a GM that is 100% committed to being here with no baggage.

I'm sure Dubas will land on his feet soon enough and have a solid career, but it wasn't meant to be in Toronto.

Anybody's willingness to do a job is going to be conditional, that'll be just as true for the next guy. Is two for flinching a competent personnel strategy?

Based on the presser, it seems like they thought it was a done deal until 3PM on Monday.

They'd been working on this for months.
If Shanny didn't suggest that then the fanbase (and Dubas) could accuse MLSE/Shanny of wanting to sabotage him all along. Babcock made that claim (after getting shitcanned) when Dubas took over (even though it was completely accurate).

Dubas suggesting this season stressed out his family is an indirect way of suggesting MLSE/Shanny stressed out his family by making him a lame duck GM. Complete bullshit.

timeline
1. they had a deal in place effectively
2. dubas says he wants to do a presser..shanny advises against it.
3. dubas says a bunch of stuff to the media that he didnt tell shanny
4. dubas demands more money on the pretense of "family"

ye, this aint on shanny

very unprofessional by dubas.

Guy sucks at negotiating, even for himself.

No wonder why 16 and 34 walked all over him and had him bent over a barrel.

No wonder he was the agents favourite GM, the guy is clueless.

Apparently it was all about money for him just like the players. Looks like it started from the top.

Shanahan should have made the decision to move on before offering a new contract, but regardless they ended up with the right outcome. Now load Keefe into a taxi without cab fare and trade Marner and I may have a little excitement next year.

But that's a thing that happens, you don't even have to leave the sport to find examples. Like my old man only moved to the States when his boss offered enough to get my mom on board. It's pretty mundane yeah?

But I'm not going to get into an argument with you, I respect your opinion.
Would you change your position on this if he ends up somewhere else as a GM THIS year after his presser?

Leafs gave Kyle his first opportunity from Marlies to GM of the biggest organization in the league
Leafs organization let him run the show how he wanted
Leafs even wanted him back and offered him a competitive at $4 Million

But Dubas shows the middle finger to the very organization that made him

Well Dubas fell on his face here. Will be interesting to see who grabs this guy.

Shanny said his agent came back with a "different financial package". I would presume Dubas didnt ask to take less money but it is Dubas, who knows what he is thinking.

I wasn't able to watch so if it is purely financial that is bad unless it is performance-based, which then, who cares.

I just saw he came back with a different package/contract. I'd be curious to see the terms regardless.

I'm more pro-Shanahan if it is strictly money, although he is an idiot too.
