Honestly this move might be the final straw for me as a fan. Legit cannot believe they made such a f*** up, and it is squarely on them because they should have extended him last year.

And for all the hurr durr Dubas sucks, let me remind you..

- Lou signs Zaitsev and Marleau deals
- Nonis signs Clarkson and tried to sign Bolland
- Burke trades unprotected firsts that become top end picks and signs LACK
- JFJ trades Steen, Rask, etc

Dubas was ALWAYS able to get trades done and he NEVER put the team in a shit situation with these unmovable contracts or mortgaging the future. He knew the value of the assets he had, was a great scout both amateur and professionally.

I question if Dubas haters were fans longer than the past few seasons to understand how big of a f***up this day is.
I've believed for a while now that those that go out of their way to hate on Dubas, simply weren't around during the truly miserable days of the Cliff, JFJ, Burke, Nonis eras.

How could anyone live through that crap, experience what we've had recently, and opt to want more of the past rather than this?

Baffling.

The total autonomy thing is interesting.

It makes me think that the TDL moves made, to bring in players that Dubas has never brought in before, may have come at the direction of Shanahan.

I don’t want any of our GM’s having total autonomy: we have a brain trust for a reason, and a fully autonomous GM doesn’t end well.

Memories of JFJ “total autonomy” moving Rask to keep Pogge” comes to mind….

Dubas's media boys lining up to pin this on Shanny lol

Pretty obvious 95% of the transactions at least we're him

The only ones I can see otherwise we're the Sandin for a 1st, and the Knies pull back that was rumored

I'm not sure you've even listened to this. No, this isn't pinning anything on Shanny, or blame.

It's Dubas wanting full autonomy. Shanahan not giving it to him... That's the suggestion.

There is no blame in that. Shanahan has the right to not give full authority. Dubas has the right to ask for it. In the end, you work under the conditions your employer sets out, and if you don't accept them, your gone.

This pretty much confirms some of the feelings others have had here... @JT AM da real deal would concur. Dubas wanted full autonomy, it wasn't going to happen, and now we move on, for better or worse...TBD.

As far as I've been in on this site...you are going to get factions regardless of who is at the helm.

It is learning how to behave and respect one another that I find a sad and difficult task for a lot.
A got 2 such holiday’s myself……..but not for a long time so unlike Kadri I think I have learned my lesson

Awful decision to get rid of him. Dubas was far from perfect but he wasn’t the issue.

Shanahan, Keefe and some of the ‘core 4’ should’ve gone first.

Yes shanny who is in charge of the business side

And the core 4 and Keefe who Dubas was in charge of hiring and trading. All should take the blame instead of him

If true, there laid out right before our eyes are Dubas' actually priorities: money and power. What I see is Dubas hardballing for money and power. Shanahan offered something that should have been priceless to someone with family concerns: a private jet to limit the time away from the family.
Fun fact/Story... NBA's Tracy Mcgrady lost a chance to play with Tim Duncan because the team cheaped out for that reason alone, not letting using the private jets see their family. Many say if they were teamed up they would've won multiple championships.

One did win regardless, but another never got the help (Mcgrady) even though he was one of the most sensational players in basketball during his time in Orlando after being traded from Toronto.

Apparently Shanny released a press release at noon stating that the Team has decided to move on from Dubas and as such has been let go

Although I want sweeping change I am a bit bummed to see him go. He will excel elsewhere though and I wouldnt be that surprised if he eventually gets a ring. Good luck Dubie, and may the team now commit fully to a total change in personnel and philosophy

Dubas was not GM for 8 years. Dubas became GM at a critical time, and did a really good job navigating both it and the abnormal league environment that followed. It was important to have him here for this next critical moment, and it's probably the worst possible time to go on a GM search. This is a potentially catastrophic loss for the organization, and how it all played out doesn't inspire confidence that MLSE knows what they're doing enough to prevent it from being one.
He was GM for 5 years but failed to change the core when it was obvious after 6 years that they couldn’t get it done in the playoff So here we are again at 7 year failure, everything else is Wrong………

JFJ also had a LOT on his shoulders by the TPP. There was less autonomy during that time IMO, and it was more like do whatever it takes to get into the playoffs.

Willie was comparing to Drai back then. But his comparison would be Tkachuk, and Pastrnak this time and both of them got much better stats than him despite him getting 40goals this past season.

That’s why I don’t think any GMs would pay him as much as Tkachuk

And it turns out Nylander's deal was probably the best of the bunch, along with Morgan's.
