Tampa is a mean bunch by everyone's standards
I watched the first period last night and they mauled, manhandle and cross checked the shit out of the other team and the refs just stood there and watched.
It was brutal. With the skill and toughness they have I see them going all the way

That’s the whole purpose behind Dubas‘s comments About taking some time to decide.
they have allowed him to save face but in my opinion he was not offered a contract.
He didn’t work all his life to just walk away from his dream job because it was hard.
if that is truly the case then he is not suited for the big show and should look for a career elsewhere
Why have him speak during the presser at all if he definitely wasn't going to be offered a contract? It appears to me that Dubas wasn't completely keen on returning either. It takes two parties to enter into a contract and I don't feel as though enough of a commitment was there from either side in order for that to happen.

you'll never get the millennials to give Lou his due, guy's a 80+ year old and still grinding it out.............

Dubas inherited the core and a good team, Lou did not inherit the Islanders, this is what I am struggling to understand.

What, he got $360k more than Pasta?

What you should be comparing is marner's to Pastarnak.
At the time that was the comparable. Even though we knew Pasta was still a level above Willy.

The entire precedent set in that contract negotiation made Dubas look weak. And it snowballed from there.

Then after losing a game of chicken....he says as long as he's GM he'll never trade him. LOL. Thank god the Rompa Room era seems to be over.

Yeah it's over. Do you know how much of a rug pull it is to switch GMs with like 4 weeks until the draft? f*** me. This summer is going to be rough.
Dubas left us with 3 picks. I'm pretty confident Shanny and all the AGNs carry the mail until the new GM is hired.

I think he nailed the Nylander contract.

40 goals, and 86th. highest cap hit.

And the young man just loves playing hockey.

Hard to see negatives in that one.
He overpaid big time at the time of signing

Nylander’s comparable was ehlers, not pastranak. Ehlers got 6x7
Nylander got 7.5x6, but didn’t even play half a year so he got 6.96x5.5

At the time of signing he was a 20 goal 60 point player, we just decided to be the first guys to pay based on what he could be, not what he was

He also proceeded to waste that half a year by doing squat. He was a huge reason we didn’t win against Boston, dude decided to be a fourth liner

He’s lived up to the contract now, but it doesn’t change the fact that he probably got overpaid by a 2 million on a 6 year deal.

We are not sure of anything and will probably never know the truth but maybe they were still in the negotiating phase at the time of the presser.
