So much for Leafs or a year off. The dude has zero integrity or honesty.
what an amateur show
I know it was probably tampering, but Dubas knew he had a sizeable offer from PIT on the table and he had nothing to lose. Either Leafs agree to massive contract and full autonomy, or he'd get the massive contract and autonomy from PIT.

That whole 'family' thing was utter bullshit and he's gonna be chirped non-stop for years.

I don't recall ever seeing your posts before, maybe you were otherwise occupied. That said, as you and I are long time posters, I must give you mad respect. You Sir, are the man. Your posts are bang on and describe the situation PERFECTLY.

Therefore the Dubasites will hate you.
Thank you. I wasn't on much this past season, mainly due to work, and I mostly frequent the History of Hockey forum. As for the Dubasites, meh, everyone has the right to their opinion and I've been wrong countless times in the past, but I think we have a large enough sample size to go on with Dubas and the core.

His behaviour is like cheating on your best friends wife, but onwards and upwards, this only gives us more mud to sling at any Dubites who decide not to follow their messiah to slag town……..

Can anyone explain to me how Dubas messed up the ttc today? Jesus what a gong show on the subway today, both ways.
He couldn't get approval from the Board fast enough to change the track lights from green to red. It was actually Shanahan's fault for dragging his feet.

As a Leafs fan I'm perplexed why some here on in a tizzy because Dubas is/might signing with the Pens. Why the f*** care?

I didn't like Dubas from the start, didn't like Burke (as a GM) wasn't crazy with Lou and Hunters drafting was pathetic.

Let's remember Dubas wasn't alone in any of these signings. Anyone that believes that is nuts.Shanahan has more of a say than people know and if it's true that he called Matthews, Marner and Nylander groveling telling them they won't be traded, we are f***ED!

Any GM the Leafs hire knowing that he can't trade one of them is just a freaking puppet.

Also let's remember the stupid, asinine comments made by Shanahan how players should take a discount if they cared.

What the team needs badly is a single owner who loves the game and willing to spend to win.

This organization has been horribly run for decades, that isn't changing any time soon.

Oh yeah, I remember this. Considering how things ended up going, Shanahan looks pretty dumb for saying these things. For anyone that doesn't remember, here's a few excerpts and below a link where you can read what he said in it's ridiculous entirety.

We need players who want to be Maple Leafs,” Shanahan said when discussing his team in generalities. “This may not be for everyone.
...
And at the end of the day, we see a great example with a John Tavares. We were able to attract a player like that who could have made more money elsewhere, who is still doing very, very well financially.
...
I can speak from my personal experience that when I get together with some of my old mates from the Cup years in Detroit, we talk about winning together and growing together and that’s what we remember looking back,” Shanahan said. “At the end of the day, we all found a way we could fit with each other so we could keep adding to the group and that is obviously what we’re asking some of our young leaders to do. There’s a lot of other voices and understandably so. Like I said, it’s not for everyone. What I hope they can look back on 20 years or 30 years down the road, what will be most important to them, is whether or not they maxed out as an individual and as a team and that they have championships to look back on."

I don't think he's getting a massive contract from the Pens though...hard to imagine they would pay him $6 to $7 million to be their GM.

Of course they do. But they also need to get a handle on reality, mature professionally, and man up and live up to their hype and contract in the playoffs.
I remember videos of Marner doing workouts and doing box jumps etc. The problem is...I think it was before he signed his deal. Now we just read about his girlfriend and his dog...

Fire him or don’t fire him, he already made his permanent mark on the NHL beyond the Leafs that’s going to take decades to fix, if it’s even fixable. He’s been consistently more concerned with his legacy and changing the game ever since he signed that first offersheet. Pretty symbolic that it was Stevens going the other was. Same guy who KO’d Shanny’s weird obsession and vision for the future in Kariya. Same guy who Shanny tried to make obsolete and a relic of the past as an exec.
I really wish people would do some reading on Shanny. The reputation he had as a player is NOT what he is as an executive as far as vision for how the game should be played. Just watch that Russian 5 documentary where he is gushing over the skill they had. He really thought he was going to change the game by giving Nic Petan's of the world more room out there.

I think as much as I disliked what Dubas did with the contracts...I think he was being "guided" into a lot of the decisions on skill players than he would have done organically. He had some tough players at the Soo....I seriously doubt he just forgot that when he became GM.

I guess it makes sense that Shanny was so annoyed at Dubas when he informed him the Foligno deal went through (Amazon prime). I thought it was because Foligno was washed up and we paid too much. I think Shanny thought they didn't need that type of player. Who knows...but we will find out soon enough when the next GM puts out a team.
