You guys are tripping too much balls for a team that has Auston Matthews. We are going to be fine. I'm sleeping like a baby

These guys kind of make a decent point that Siegel is just reporting what people in the organization said. And while I’m not a fan of Siegel, I don’t think he’s so tone deaf that he’d this that article would make Dubas look like some kind of folk hero.

I share Kypreos’s sentiment, show a bit of professionalism and keep doing your job. And if Dubas has built a front office of people that can’t function without him, then Siegel’s article did a great service by shining a light on it.

Dubas clearly had his own agenda and knew what he was doing. Hes not a idiot. He tried to gain as much leverage as possible, and Shanny didn't appreciate what he was doin so canned him. If only Dubas had that kind of attitude when discussing contracts with Matthews and Marner...

At the end of the day, he turned his back on the Leafs and he can kick rocks for that.

Dubas asking to go directly to the Board with proposals was a complete slap in the face to Shanny, there is no other way to interpret that than a naked end around him. To me that’s why he’s gone and he deserved it, can’t really blame Shanahan for telling him to go f*** himself.

They just had to put up with Burke and Hextall, so I can understand them being a bit optimistic about a new gm/pres
Is Hextall really that bad? Lost his job in Philly because he wouldn’t throw Hart to the wolves before he was ready, he might of had a point on that one……..

There is an entire article on the things he did to anger and alienate everybody.
Letting Malkin dangle before making him an offer, trading guys during family picnics, putting them on waivers, etc.
Not sure if true but that would be enough for an organization.

Didn’t know that, perhaps the Leafs aren’t the only team with a country club atmosphere? I’m not defending the guy, just thought he was a good egg………

I can't believe this guy was ready to sign him and then changed his mind what kind of clown show is going on here right now?
Shanahan was a fantastic hockey player who had it all and he’s a great politician but somehow the board has been lulled into believing he has any ability to assess talent and on-ice product without having a lick of experience. Hell, he didn’t have any experience assessing off-ice talent or results either. I blame Lieweke and of course the owners for handing the position to him and not someone with actual experience running anything about an NHL team

The fact the board loves Shanahan is the biggest joke of all right now. This organization is in absolute shambles

if fenwawy group gives that position to dubas; they deserve all the flack that is undoubtedly coming their way
Dude is fairly talented overall but you don’t run to hire someone who showed himself to be a snake wrapped in sheep’s wool to be the head honcho of an NHL team. He is clearly a narcissist only servicing his own interests and lacks the intelligence to simply not defy your own boss by going public when told not to

Especially when it seems Shanahan went to bat for him with the board members that wanted him gone after last season.

Can we un-sticky this thread?

It's been over a week, and it's been beaten to death.

Kyle Dubas is no longer the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Where he goes and what he does is no longer related to the Leafs, and very simply sick of him.

There's a lot more things of interest that relate to the Leafs than what and where the Boy Wonder decides to go.

I'm over it.
