I guess Dubas’ main fault was believing so hard in them. Other than that I think he did okay. Wasn’t a complete failure when compared to the last 4/5 GM’s before him tbh.

He won 1 playoff round in 5 years after inheriting a 105 point team off the jump. And let’s not orget that that round that they won, they got outplayed in 5 of the 6 games.

My god, the Dubas fanboyism on here is bordering on cringeworthy.

It seriously makes me think I'm living in some alternate universe. Take a look at the situation Dubas walked into and say with a straight face he is one of the best GM's in the league. It reminds me of the John Chayka hype.

I'm relieved. He's probably a better GM than the results but he wasn't gonna make the needed changes to fix this mess and it is a mess.

As it should be. As it should have been years ago. This farce went on far too long.

Like a wounded animal that needing to be put out of its misery.

Whether it was because Shanahan was actually bamboozled by this guys baloney. Or if Dubas just found it easier to manage a team with lower expectations. I don't know.

What I do know is that he was truly awful.

Dubas is the worst manager the Leafs had in a long time. That's saying a lot considering the garbage they've employed in recent history. Anyone who takes over now can’t be much worse.

One thing is for sure, whoever it is will have their work cut out for them.

Fixing this mess won't be easy. And make no mistake about it, this team is in a mess. Attracting someone successful, someone experienced, may be difficult.

Two of the most respected executives in the NHL in Lou Lamoriello and Mike Babcock were discarded like yesterday's trash by ML$E in favour of these clowns.

I'm sure other GM's have taken notice.

They needed to make a decision ASAP, given Dubas' comments at the end of the year press conference, he may have wanted to take time which the leafs simply cannot do.

He's a good GM, his flaw was he broke the cardinal rule of GMing...he overrated his own players, especially when they were young and improving.

Keefe is definitely gone and I wouldn't be shocked now if we see 2 of the big 4 gone by July 1st.

I would rather have not added him because the leafs to that point had shown nothing to say they were ready to make a deep playoff push. All they had was failure against much worse teams and I didn't think adding 1 guy would change that.

Right but if they don't add and go out with a whimper in the 2nd round the GM gets put to the fire for not adding to the team lol it is quite literally a no win situation. He had to buy this year and the players he added were all quality additions that contract stuff aside would be valuable to have back next year.

Lou probably moves on from the failure of a core

This is why you don't sign 5 year deals with NMCs for star players when you don't have to. This is his initial decisions coming back to haunt us and now he is taking off and leaving the mess. I said basically exactly this same thing would happen when we hired him.

Yup agreed. I'm not convinced Lou wouldn't have really hampered this team with veteran contracts but in my opinion an older veteran GM would have been useful in the contract negotiations with the divas.

0 shot the way the team is currently setup. And he isn't walking into the same situation as he did with Toronto. Good luck is all I'll say.

That team barely missed the playoffs. And once you’re in as we’ve seen with Florida all bets are off. Pittsburgh isn’t that much in shambles. They need a depth few signings and to off load some contracts but it’s a fixable situation. At least their core players know how to win LOL. So that’s all the head start you need. And Crosby and Malkin have proven they can play with depth guys easily.

Rielly had a career year with Hainsey and Dubas decided he needed to stop that and got Morgan Codi Cece. LOL

Is an ELITE top 4, it’s amazing that we were able to keep them together even for a short while. I can’t see how anyone else would be able to put that defense together in just 3 short years even if you inherit Rielly and Gardiner.

I think keef should have been first to go dubas built a good team and reacquirer some assets at the TDL like a 1st rounder . I actually like what he did at this TDL thought he improved the team. Keef couldn’t get it done and got out coached . all
the best to dubas guess its up to the new GM to decide the core 4 and the up coming extension. I’m so used to being disappointed. I feel like we’re on route to another rebuild sadly. Lol.
