You guys need to deal at least one of your top four offensive guys, if not two. Dubas pulled a Bergevin at the trade deadline, it was obvious it was going to backfire. You guys should be happy he's gone just as we are in Montreal that Bergy is gone.
If you think it wasn't a factor...and hasn't been for the 5 years he's been here.If you think we lost because of goaltending.....
Can you tell me another sport that changes rules in playoffs?
Can’t say that I disagree with this. But, I do feel bad for him when you look at how many countless times he went to bat for Matthews, Marner and the other members of the core. Our training wheels GM is gone, thank god. Hopefully he goes to a rival team so we have one less team to worry about.
The fawning over his mediocrity was bordering on cringe levels. This should've happened after the Montreal implosion but I'll take it.
What are you right about?Logic prevailed. To everyone who's told me how wrong I supposedly was these last 5 years, eat shit
Not all new GMs bring in a coach right away knowing you only get one chance at it.I would assume so. The new GM will bring in his own coach.
In the end, despite some good moves, some horrible ones, some shrewd thinking, some good and bad culture wise, he really accomplished nothing, given what he walked into. Nobody thought we’d be sitting here with so many failures after he was hired.
If you think it wasn't a factor...and hasn't been for the 5 years he's been here.
You gotta admit that ROR was a great add though. That is why having a GM with 1 year less is very dangerous when making a huge splash at the deadline on UFAs who appear to be walking.
Never thought deadline buys were worth it. If the core can't get over the hump, adding some secondary pieces won't change that
Go follow Dubas wherever he goes bud. You're already out to sea.Carry on, you've revealed enough already.
Dreger on Panthers winning in quadruple-OT, the Leafs still waiting on Dubas and more - TSN.ca
TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger joins us to chat about the quadruple-OT victory by the Panthers over the Hurricanes, if he was able to stay up for the entire game, the controversial goalie interference call, if Brandon Pridham will replace Kyle Dubas and more.
Brad Treliving, the next GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs - NHL Trade Rumors
As the hours tick on, it is looking like current GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kyle Dubas, may not be the GM of the NHL’s biggest fan base. The Maple Leafs need to make a decision soon on a GM with the 2023 NHL draft coming up. Decisions have to be made on Auston […]www.nhltraderumor.com
WILL BRAD TRELIVING BE THE NEXT GM OF THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS?
Darren Dreger was on TSN 1050 and was asked the question about Toronto’s GM situation. He believes the Leafs want to keep Kyle Dubas as GM, but if the workload is too much and he wants time to spend with family, he will not be back and a decision will be made either today or this weekend.
Dreger went on to say in his radio hit, that if Dubas is not back, they will NOT hire internally. Assistant GM Brandon Pridham is the logical choice, but they will look for a GM with experience. The Toronto Maple Leafs are in win now mode and they need a GM that can come in and do what is needed for them to be a Stanley Cup contender.
Dreger believes former Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving would be the perfect choice for the Leafs if Dubas decides not to come back.
He inherited a dream opportunity. He is actually a good GM now, too bad we had to watch him learn on the job. I knew we were in trouble when he flew to Europe to make sure zero leverage RFA Willie wasn’t butt hurt, such a red flag. He thought hockey was a theorem, he’s learned it isn’t, but perhaps it was too late here. Suspect he will be a good GM elsewhere, but this messiah stuff here is embarrassing.Exactly. All this Dubas praise shocks me. Dude made a few good moves with the surrounding pieces of the team, but never fixed the real problem at the heart of this team. He didn't have either the stones or was too stubborn to do it and it's the hill he died on. I'm glad he's gone. Wish him all the best but right now all I see is a slightly better John Chayka. I don't expect this huge success wherever he goes like some dubites are saying
Bingo. Can't win like that in professional sports especially a physical game like hockey. That's why they were two totally different teams from REG to PLYOFFSDubas' mission statement when he came in was that they were going to build a safe environment and protect the players. Not only did they succeed in doing so, they went completely overboard.
Massive contracts, zero accountability, no repercussions for the empty 'give a shit' meter, walking statements back when Mitchy does not agree with them. (even though they were 100% accurate)
Knies getting abused and injured, Kampf getting stapled after the whistle, no push back at all from this group. I guarantee you Shanny was losing his f***ing mind watching that...the new coach is gonna be a hard ass who's gonna demand more.
It's impossible to not be better off without him.Time will tell.
I'm not convinced they'll be "better off without" him - this feels like the sort of move that leads to the bottom falling out and a franchise regreting it down the road.
Time will tell.
They turned on him with their overpay contracts.Kyle bet everything on this core and lost. Good bye.
Dubas' tenure being a complete and utter failureWhat are you right about?
