LOL......Simmons is really stretching with that comparison

Tallon was general manager when the Hawks hired Joel Quenneville to coach, when Chicago drafted future Hall of Famers Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, and when the club added championship parts like Marian Hossa, Nick Hjarmalsson, Patrick Sharp, Kris Versteeg and Dave Bolland.

Dubas was general manager when the Leafs hired Sheldon Keefe to coach, when Toronto drafted future Non Hall of Famers Timothy Liljegren and Rasmus Sandin, and when the club added playoff spare parts like Nick Foligno, Wayne Simmonds, Joe Thornton and Erik Gustafsson.
Nobody ever came away from a Steve Simmons article smarter.

What has Shanny done or said that makes you think he has any intention of trading the core four?

I get that the CJ report may be unwanted news. But there's nothing so far than tangibly disproves it.

How do we know Shanny himself didn't directly leak it to CJ for that matter?
You can't disprove a negative .. So there would be NO evidence of something he didn't say or didn't happen. Only Shanahan and the core 4 players would be in the loop and know exactly what was said on a private conversation. They would be the only people that could prove or disprove that statement. Not hearing them directly claim its true is not evidence it happened either.

I'm not suggesting one of the core 4 would/should be traded, I'm questioning the validity of a statement made by someone in the media with no evidence that wasn't there nor directly involved.

Suggesting that Shanny himself leaked it to prove CJ statement as true, would simply be more unproven speculation on top of other speculation that again couldn't be disproven if it never happened. Do you have any evidence to support your Shanahan leaked theory, or did you just make up that possibility yourself as plausable, without any real proof it actually happened, and now asking me for assistance to help prove it. :wg:

The only person in fact that I personally heard that has ever hinted at the potential of 1 of the core 4 being moved was Dubas himself at his own PC.. When asked directly by CJ himself nonetheless, Kyle said "All options are on the table". Thousands of Leaf fans that turned into the press conference can confirm that.

Here is that proof that my last statement is true. :teach:

Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews, Kyle Dubas express desire to remain in Toronto

If Dubas remains as the general manager, all options are on the table, including trading a member of the Core Four which includes Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares and William Nylander. Dubas cited the Matthew Tkachuk-Jonathan Huberdeau blockbuster trade from last summer as a precedent.

“I would consider anything with our group here that would allow us a better chance to win the Stanley Cup. So I would take nothing off the table at all. And I think everything would have to be considered with regards to anything to do with the Leafs.”

Perhaps it was the Kyle Dubas news that was unwanted, and his removal that has secured the core 4 future? If you wanted the core 4 to remain then Dubas removal should come as good news.

It wasn't the Dubas firing that sent the core 4 players speculating about their Leafs long term futures, it was what Kyle actually did say during his press conference that lite that fuse. When Shanahan heard Dubas go public with that news, he fired Kyle. and then in an attempt to put out the fire. he called the players himself directly to reassure them the organization is not actively looking to trade them. Or at least that is what CJ is claiming Shanny told them in private. What Shanny actually said I can't prove as factual, you would have to trust Chris Johnston on that one.

He’s a classy guy, but of course he isn’t going to sling mud now he’s angling for another gig.

or....

he has no substance/merit to speak factually. They fired babcock paying him 25 million dollars, they protected freakin' Holl in the expansion draft at the expense of McCann, dubas changed almost half the roster at the TDL. Heck what about half broken, down and out Murray deal?

Are people telling us these massive moves were all shanny and dubas wasn't doing this? I mean come the F on.

Dubas knows he effed up; too much of an ego to admit. Arrogance seldom goes hand in hand with success. he will meet the same (or even worse) end with his next gig if he got one

On arrogance, the fact he actually thought Shanny would be okay with him bringing trades to the Board, it’s just such a blind spot. Guy has no contract and he’s acting like we can’t do without him. Entitlement starts with him.

Its baffling people like him find the support they do. No wonder charlatans get into positions of power and ruin things for everyone.

I keep reading here that Matthews went from happy to mad. Do we really have any proof that Matthews is mad because Dubas is gone or is it just a couple of hockey writers looking for attention

Matthews signed his ELC with Lou; Matthews' family was tight with Lou
Matthews signed his next contract with dubas;
Matthews WILL sign his next contract with a new GM

I don't think players would give a flying F about GM. Its the dubas shills making a lot of noise, ignoring them is probably the best thing. Empty vessels make the loudest noise anyway ;)

He’s just a GM, for many here, he was a way of life lol.

I really wish people picked a better role model than freakin' dubas. He has nepotism written all over his professional career. thats not something to aspire towards. Jeez

As long as he stays away from the Sens. I'm worried Pitts will tell him no thanks and the media will act like he said no because he wants the Sens.
I just don't see the great job he did, he was average at best but the media is acting like he invented advanced stats and has somehow leveraged them to do great things.
I honestly think that Dubas has a following just because he is so young. A lot of the youth are struggling in the overall job market..housing market etc. To them...Dubas represents someone of their ilk who can bring their views on everything to the table and his success his their success. There is no other way to explain it other than a poll on here asking the age demographic of people who like Dubas.

That’s what they said on OverDrive, how laughable to think Matthews will decide based on a Dubas being here or not. There is no more chaos here than before Dubas left and if there is uncertainty, that’s on him. 26 years old and Matthews walks to free agency, what a joke, with that money he got.

What a pathetic shill, hope he gets the job and ruins the Pens, oh and takes his disciples with him to the Pittsburgh boards……..
There's a Dubas discussion there. It's a laff riot. They believe all of the hype given their superficial knowledge of the situation. I'm telling them they might get what they wish for.

It's falling on deaf ears.

This is true, given all the ageism jabs if you question him.

Dubas quickly getting another GM gig is the best timeline IMO. Worshipers can go follow him at his new location. The family flip flop exposes himself as a disingenuous disloyal character although I doubt cognitive dissonance will allow the cultists to admit it at this time (it will dawn on them later). His ego will not allow him to resist attempting to "own" the next Leafs' GM in transactions. He's at his worst when his personal pride is his motivation. And the closet Dubas loyalists at MLSE will jump ship as soon as they can.
I can't wait for him to overpay for all the smallish skilled wingers we have in the system. Shit...I will even gift him Abbruzzese if he takes a bunch of them to wherever he ends up.

I really hope this is the end of the Leafs drafting the prototypical Dubas size. What's that you may ask? Its between 5'9 and 5'11 and between 165lb to 185lb.

I think Friedman has also said it won't have much of an effect. Futa, a guy who has actually been in management and survived a purge, also said its unlikely. Another, though he gets alot of flak, but he's a former player and usually gives the Leafs grief - Kypreos literally laughed at the idea.

I don't have much trust in many of the talking head but Seravalli has to be one of the worst.

The Overdrive guys also didn't think it would have much of an effect.

Quite frankly I think executives from other teams tell media guys these things about the Leafs just to **** with the fanbase and media here. A form of concern trolling by proxy through the media.
