There is talk about Dubas being a team President, perhaps Pittsburgh. Would Dubas the President not have a say in his teams trades?
But its different thereThere is talk about Dubas being a team President, perhaps Pittsburgh. Would Dubas the President not have a say in his teams trades?
Exactly. Everyone patting Dubas on the back for keeping it “classy” in his goodbye message (reference to his family again not withstanding) can’t be naive enough to not realize he’s slinging mud through proxies like Mirtle and CJ instead??Mirtle to be on Leafs Lunch at 1 pm. Sounds like he is doing the damage control rounds for his BFF.
He’s a smart guy, but his bias is so obvious here I can’t even listen to him. He was preaching chaos and doom on 590 this morning and then when reminded Dubas had to deal with the same issues he mentioned, he just mumbled and moved on. We get it, your bud is gone, happened to Dregs, being an insider is fun while it lasts.
I don't think the big blunder was making that suggestion, it was doing it while failing to keeping his fingers on the pulse of the team and not knowing how poorly they viewed the work environment under LouLam + Babs. Now we're pretty much in that situation again. Except instead of known unhappiness we're asking a player with a huge amount of leverage to commit to complete uncertainty. Who can sell any sort of vision other than Shanny right now?The problem there is that, and I'm a huge Shanny fan btw, his one big blunder was suggesting to the media that the core stars should take a discount. He blundered there. Not sure I want him doing the negotiations with Matthews and then Nylander......
He’s a classy guy, but of course he isn’t going to sling mud now he’s angling for another gig.Exactly. Hardly the same point. Since the dawn of time everyone’s opinion has been filtered through the lens of any “bias” they may have.Ok dude.. change the word "news" to opinion, and dude, it's still the same point.
Yeah Dubas became a loose cannon. That press conference against Shanahans advice, and Dubas spending more time talking about not being sure if he wants to be GM anymore then the teams playoffs...then following it up by sending a new contract at the eleventh hour to Shanahan. Not to mention, following THAT up with an email to Shanahan saying you decided you want to be the gm (instead of calling). It's clear that their relationship was broken, and honestly, I won't blame Shanahan at that point wanting to break off the relationship. It's better for the team to have a manager and president who get along.Except if youve been or feel like you have been blindsided and knifed in the back. If you f*** me over that much that I want to rescind the contract I had ready for you then you do whatever you have to do before the well is poisoned any further and deal with whatever the fallout is.
Dubas had the most bloated front office in hockey, I’m sure everything is moving just fine as we speak.Their pleadings are incoherent at the moment since nothing on the roster has changed in a week. They don't even have the patience to wait for some actual transactions by the post-Dubas front office to pounce.
Shanny erased him along the wall. Now build a team like you.
You've missed the point completely. But carry on.Ya no it isn’t at all and if you can’t see that…
I listened to Mike Futa who watches the leafs and his opinions were already more in line with how I see the leafs and what needs to be done more than Kyle had, so maybe things arent so bleak and someone will be able to come in and move and shake quickly and effectively. What is naïve about that take?
Shanny came out and said that up until last Monday, Kyle was the man he wanted to be the GM of the club going forward. He had no succession plan in place, as he didn't feel the need to have one. It is only now, that he has to search for one.
Is it possible that Shanny felt threatened by the potential of an inferior position making the same amount of money as him and given full autonomy by the club??? To me that sounds more realistic. It kind of puts Shanny's role into a bit of a redundancy if Kyle were to be given full autonomy as well as a similar wage.
I think it's pretty clear that there was some contention between Kyle and Shanny this past year. This kind of looks like it was Kyle's way of putting the fire on Shanny from a board perspective. It wouldn't have taken long for the board to start asking Shanny what it is he was providing to the club if Kyle was given full control. No wonder Shanny didn't advocate for his extension thereafter. This had nothing to do with Shanny not feeling good about Kyle being the GM. He made that abundantly clear that he did. This was a power struggle between both Kyle and Shanny, and Shanny was not willing to relinquish his standing in the organizational pecking order. Despite it likely being what was best for our club.
we all were in Shanny's very detailed account of the sequence of events that lead to KD's departure.....Curious, were you generally informed on the team's direction before last week?
Remember when Shanahan made fun of the Senators post game interviews? Embarrassing them and the Senators ended them shortly afterwards. Maybe that's why Spezza resigned.Just watching some old Shanny highlights and can't believe he actually fought Probert once.

That wasn't what I asked.we all were in Shanny's very detailed account of the sequence of events that lead to KD's departure.....
It was made very clear
So CJ knows that Shanny made these calls and said those words, how exactly? You've got to be freaking kidding me....
The specific reason I wanted Dubas out is because I thought he was too committed to the freaking core 4.
Again, I am not suggesting KD was the only man for the job. I do thnk he was a good fit. But that's not to say there aren't other options that are suitable or even better.I listened to Mike Futa who watches the leafs and his opinions were already more in line with how I see the leafs and what needs to be done than Kyle had so maybe things arent so bleak and someone will be able to come in and move and shake quickly and effectively.
Shanahan also had Dubas staying and a day later was turfed. Wouldn’t put much stock into any of this. You've got to be freaking kidding me....

awesome...Tkachuk for MarnerI don't think he goes to Pittsburgh. I think he'll end up in Ottawa. That will be friggin painful, if Dubas in Ottawa hands it to us. Literally a worst case scenario.
Because it’s true, however I would add signing Tavares as one of the worst and near the top of the listThat looks like is copied and pasted from this board.
Nope, no way according to some hereThere is talk about Dubas being a team President, perhaps Pittsburgh. Would Dubas the President not have a say in his teams trades?
I’m not sure about that and I will believe it when I see it.This is a good thing finally Shanahan is going to get a real sense of what is wrong with the current lineup.
I can only imagine from every GM that interviews for the job . You can't build a team with 4 players eating up this much of your cap.
Sometimes you need to hear the truth
