The wording very much makes this seem as if the Leafs parted with Dubas, not the other way around as his press conference would've led us to believe. I wonder if after that presser his commitment to the job was slightly questioned - which I think is fair.

I'm worried to say the least though. I believe in Kyle as a GM and believe in his ability to change and adapt. I would've trusted him with a big 4 trade.

I also wonder how this affects Matthews negotiations if it isn't an internal hire (Pridham) that takes over. Him and Kyle appeared to be close.

results? or not this time. Right now it is a big failure.

Also, aren't we making someone trade one of our young players, pretty much the same situation...

Not a fan of him as our GM.
He made some great trades. His big ticket contracts hurt him. He should not have been negotiating them as a fresh new GM. There was too much pressure on him too, I was one of the few on here who would ave traded Willie for a stud D Man. Their early D cost them a couple of series.

The team is at a very dangerous point in my opinion. They either get it right here and the team takes the next step by moving one of the "core 4". Or it goes wrong and its rebuild time again in 3 to 4 years.

This is why you don't sign 5 year deals with NMCs for star players when you don't have to. This is his initial decisions coming back to haunt us and now he is taking off and leaving the mess. I said basically exactly this same thing would happen when we hired him.

Off to cheer for whatever team he is now the GM of, like many of you predicted, nice knowing you all.

This is sarcasm

Honestly, it sucks.

I am really hoping we don't go too far the other way and bring in someone who is past their prime (Lou/Holland type) who butchers this team, and I am praying we don't bring in Treliving to trade one of the core players.

I think Dubas is a great GM and it sucks he is leaving, I trusted him to trade one of the core pieces, and can't think of too many GMs I trust that are available.
He most definitely is NOT a great gm...

Treliving is a terrible hire in my opinion.

Tulsky or Pridham I'd be fine with.

I just am nervous the Leafs will go in the opposite direct of Dubas and get a terrible GM cause they won a cup in the early 2000's.

I am a Leafs fan regardless, I just thought Dubas was out best option, so this sucks because I think the team will start trending in the opposite direction.
I think Dubas was by far our best option as well.

Keefe is destroying a wheel right now.
Or the new GM won't use his firing coach card this early. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Keefe is now back next season. Leafs can then evaluate him with a new roster and without Dubas chirping in his ear 24/7.

Marner probably has smoke coming out of his ears incredulous that team somehow didn’t clear this move through him.

He may be on his way out as well. I don't think Kyle would have moved Marner, a new GM will probably explore that option. I wasn't for getting rid of Dubas nor was I against it, I wanted change so i'm pretty happy there's something.
