How glad/mad would you be if your Leafs hire....our ex-own...Marc Bergevin? What about Trevor Timmins?
Rut Roh.* Wonders what this means for Matthews' extension. Speculates that he won't be signing before July 1st anymore, until he knows who the new GM is and what the plan is moving forward.
He made some great trades. His big ticket contracts hurt him. He should not have been negotiating them as a fresh new GM. There was too much pressure on him too, I was one of the few on here who would ave traded Willie for a stud D Man. Their early D cost them a couple of series.results? or not this time. Right now it is a big failure.
Also, aren't we making someone trade one of our young players, pretty much the same situation...
Not a fan of him as our GM.
While I agree, the fact he gave our three best players 5/6-year deals while practically every other star of their calibre signed for 8 was a huge error on his part.Lest we forget that in a world without COVID his contracts that he signed the Core Four to would’ve aged far better than they did.
The team is at a very dangerous point in my opinion. They either get it right here and the team takes the next step by moving one of the "core 4". Or it goes wrong and its rebuild time again in 3 to 4 years.
He most definitely is NOT a great gm...Off to cheer for whatever team he is now the GM of, like many of you predicted, nice knowing you all.
This is sarcasm
Honestly, it sucks.
I am really hoping we don't go too far the other way and bring in someone who is past their prime (Lou/Holland type) who butchers this team, and I am praying we don't bring in Treliving to trade one of the core players.
I think Dubas is a great GM and it sucks he is leaving, I trusted him to trade one of the core pieces, and can't think of too many GMs I trust that are available.
I think Dubas was by far our best option as well.Treliving is a terrible hire in my opinion.
Tulsky or Pridham I'd be fine with.
I just am nervous the Leafs will go in the opposite direct of Dubas and get a terrible GM cause they won a cup in the early 2000's.
I am a Leafs fan regardless, I just thought Dubas was out best option, so this sucks because I think the team will start trending in the opposite direction.
If he needs to have his special GM then maybe he should look elsewherewell you might as well trade everyone... Matthews wont be happy lol
Or the new GM won't use his firing coach card this early. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Keefe is now back next season. Leafs can then evaluate him with a new roster and without Dubas chirping in his ear 24/7.Keefe is destroying a wheel right now.
Marner probably has smoke coming out of his ears incredulous that team somehow didn’t clear this move through him.
Don't hold your breath on that. If he goes to Pittsburgh they will flounder hard
Whole program is being dismantled.
Looked great in the 2nd round didn't it.Sure... 7th in league in GAA... terrible. LOL
with fake crocodile tears............If he takes any job this summer, he is a scumbag.
Someone who isn't emotionally attached to Keefe and the coreBig deal. This team needs a shakeup from the top down. The core 4 were very comfortable here with Dubas, too comfortable. Maybe bring in someone new with a fresh perspective. This is great.
I mean he’s the only one I really want gone badly (was ok with Dubas coming back but was worried he wouldn’t trade core players) but seriously, would they not already announce it along with this announcement?I am sure Keefe is next.
And what's to say he would've done that here. He literally inherited that entire Atlanta infield plus Ocuna Jr.. and most of their starting staff.I didn't say there was....but AA has gone on to win a World Series and is one of the top executives in the entire sport.
That's all I care about, we have a window and hopefully we get a holy grail.
You’re such a low rent contributor so…this is such minimum wage thinking.
Well AA walked into a pretty nice situation, but Dubas is no AAI didn't say there was....but AA has gone on to win a World Series and is one of the top executives in the entire sport.
IndeedInsanely frustrating this is how it unfolded.
Running a whole new GM search so close to a potentially pivotal offseason is probably the worst case scenario
The board should have made a firmer decision way earlier on this one way or the other. Potentially last offseason.
