Is that saying the changes today now makes them the top team in the division?

That losing Hyman as the only downgrade isn't a huge loss compared to what other teams lost? Also probably pretty high on Mrazek and Bunting.

But it was mostly a reply to people that use WAR for certain players and judge accordingly, while the same model is extremely optimistic for the Leafs in the same breath.

Can't take one facet and ignore the other, right?

its not really. id rather have nothing than taking peanuts from edmonton to help them with their cap.
Okay.
Seems like a poor strategy but he is the Wonder Boy and has been very successful so far.
Let’s keep taking zero when we could get something.
Solid plan.

while I do agree in a sense but I let those side given the direction of our team. we basically used our own players as rentals trying to win, unfortunately we kept losing though.
Would have been nice to gain assets for our departing players but if we didn't view our selves as contenders and closer to a bubble team I think u would have seen atleast a couple of them moved for future assets
We are nowhere near contenders.
So easy to see.
Unless you drink the reinvent the wheel kool aid.

The biggest mistake was building a team from analytics only. Defensively this team improved last year. Hopefully thats not lost on anyone. Its the heart, will and determination thats missing

Thanks for the explanation. I’d agree Hyman is a loss but not a huge one.

Cap space is valuable. It’s like someone offering way below market value for your car. Well you might as well just sell it to them cause they’re going to get one anyways. It’s the same as trades. Why accept something if it below value. I can’t believe people don’t understand how this works.

I said next year, wait until after this group graduates. Read my first post before you knee jerk respond.

If Robertson can’t crack this lineup with the stiffs we signed, we’ll….He will, kids a keeper.

Yes but if he cracks the lineup Dubas can't brag about his prospect pool 4D chess bro

I wouldn't read too much into "defensive improvements" for this team yet. North division offensive rivals were probably only Jets and Oilers.

Now in the Atlantic you get Tampa, Florida, Boston, and freakin pain in the ass Sens;

and then you have to play metro teams quite often too; with only 2 games with the western conference teams.

eric lindros ?

So our new strategy is to use our 3.5 million of Cap space*. To hopefully beg other teams to give us a first line LW that they know we're desperate for?

I can't see us getting shredded in a trade at all using this philosophy when multiple other teams have boat loads of space

If this was the strategy we would have been better off just paying hyman.

* Which we only have if we run a roster of 20 and keep Robertson in the minors

Our bargaining position is literally bend over and take it.

That's why I'm so pissed about the dermott and kempf deals why do we need to over pay these dudes

eric lindros ?

I think we might hit ritchie with a batch sire. He can score on the PP, hit some, check some, still fighting some. What! Then we would have some current thugs and newsome. We would be a better team. Lets see if dubas can get ritchie to canada. Some people don't want to play in this country right now.

looking at the prices for rhd right now, he's a fricken steal.
He is only a steal if he can get the job done on a contending team that we aspire to be. If his strongest feature that he is on a cheap contract then I’m not sure he moves the team forward
