It’s reallly questionable that taveras and muzzin are in their primes

It'sa 6th round pick buddy. besides if we were to do there there's a chance Hyman can sign cheaper than when he hits the market. for a 6th...... a 6th..... who gives a shit buddy. it's a crap shoot. might as well play darts in the darkEdmonton was willing to give Dubas a draft pick for the rights to a player he had ZERO intention of re-signing Hyman.
This is the equivalent of having someone offer you a scratch and win lottery ticket for the rotten banana you’re about to throw in the garbage - - and then refusing the offer because you want a 6/49 lottery ticket.
The same people whining about Dubas standing firm and not taking a 6th are likely the same people that constantly call him soft and weak. Can't have it both ways.
My point is that people whined about him being soft and bring up articles where agents call him the weakest GM, and then when he acts tough towards other GMs people tell him he doesn't need to be.Sure you can, both can be true. He caved with 3 RFA's that had zero leverage and then stood firm when we was going to be given an asset (low pick) for something he was going to lose anyway.
People are not linear in their personality or decision making. You can be both weak at the wrong times and be strong at the wrong times.
My point is that people whined about him being soft and bring up articles where agents call him the weakest GM, and then when he acts tough towards other GMs people tell him he doesn't need to be.
Well considering we only have 6 draft picks total in these two draft years, because of him while accomplishing nothing, every draft pick counts. My point is that people whined about him being soft and bring up articles where agents call him the weakest GM, and then when he acts tough towards other GMs people tell him he doesn't need to be.
Wow, this thread is a joke
This is a prime example of why the Leafs have the worst fanbase in the league and possibly all of sports
make an ECHL move and we get upset fans.....
miss out on a whole 6th round pick to help Edmonton save cap for 7 years. Oh NO!
World's coming to an end. What are we going to do?
How is Dubas GM when he just passes up on free 6th round picks.
My god people. chill the hell out.
***Note***
I know there are alot of good fans, but we are drown out by dummies, too many it's like in Game of Thrones when Jon Snow in at the battle of the bastards and he falls down in battle and had to fight his way up through everyone around him.
That's what it's like being a good fan for this team.
My point is that people whined about him being soft and bring up articles where agents call him the weakest GM, and then when he acts tough towards other GMs people tell him he doesn't need to be.
We also had like 12 picks in 2020 because they had the foresight of realizing that this was going to be a weird draft year and tons of players would go undrafted that they could potentially sign afterwards or continue scouting.Well considering we only have 6 draft picks total in these two draft years, because of him while accomplishing nothing, every draft pick counts.
I think people are complaining because Dubas keeps choosing the wrong times to be soft or when to flex his muscles and it keeps leading us to failures.
Not everybody. The same people whining about Dubas standing firm and not taking a 6th are likely the same people that constantly call him soft and weak. Can't have it both ways.
It's a strange paradox, Dubas IMO is tough enough when dealing with other GM's and with regards to this 6th round pick, I don't see any reason to complain whatsoever. But when it comes to his own players, it's like he's a completely different person. He's not tough at all (like he doesn't even understand the concept) and he seems to treat our stars with kid gloves as if they're his children or something. He's like this overprotective parent who thinks his kids should be given everything they could possibly dream of. Coach is tough on them so fire him and install someone who coddles them. You want money, here take it, as much as you want. And of course structure the contracts in such a way that adds massive value on top of the outrageous amounts they get paid. Fans get on their case when they fail time and time again? Well, storm to the rescue, go public with the stance that he just doesn't understand how people could be critical of Marner, express absolute faith that these guys will get it done.
I believe that is the one thing standing between this team being successful as in every other aspect of the job, Dubas is pretty good IMO. But there is no accountability at all with regards to these star players and it's a damn shame. And LOL at people here who think people who criticize aren't being patient, Leaf fans are the most patient fans in the world and we deserve better.
When Dubas figures out how to put together a team that can win a couple playoff rounds I’ll be the first to acknowledge what a fantastic job he did.
But as long as he continues to assemble fundamentally flawed teams that embarrass the franchise with playoff flops, I’ll continue to point out what a hopelessly incompetent GM he is.
If we have the same results next season, strong regular season, 1st round exit, all while sticking with the same core and moving depth pieces along the way, will there still be people preaching patience for Dubas's vision?
Can we safely assume this is the test year for Dubas tenure as GM?
Dubas hasn't even been here for 4 years. That was Lou.But Dubas for 4 years in a row has let pending UFA's walk for nothing. Just move them for Christ Sake. I never understood why we didnt trade Bozak and JVR for assets
Lou was here for 3 seasons.Dubas hasn't even been here for 4 years. That was Lou.![]()
Not sure what that has to do with anything. Lou was GM when they decided to keep JVR and Bozak as own rentals instead of trading them for assets.Lou was here for 3 seasons.
You said 4 years. Not sure what that has to do with anything. Lou was GM when they decided to keep JVR and Bozak as own rentals instead of trading them for assets.
Dubas is thought of as a pushover, someone who if you wait out long enough will eventually cave.I can't understand why Dubas is being pigheaded and not accepting a 6th. His job is to help the Leafs not be vindictive to other GM's.
Granted the 6th probably won't amount to anything but opposition GM's have long memories.
I suspect it's more an ego thing with Dubas. He didn't trade Hyman. Hyman left on his own.
Way, way, way too late for that. He's picked the wrong hill to die on to try to stand tall. f*** worrying about YOUR appearance and represent the LEAFS. He's such a selfish knobhead.Dubas is thought of as a pushover, someone who if you wait out long enough will eventually cave.
This is his way of trying to change that appearance. Good on him, about time.
I suggest you read what I was replying to. It was stated that Dubas had been here for 4 years and was the one that didn't trade Bozak and JVR for assets. That was incorrect. Dubas has been here for 3 years, and Lou was the one who didn't trade Bozak and JVR for assets. You said 4 years. What does asset management have to do with my answer.
