Edmonton was willing to give Dubas a draft pick for the rights to a player he had ZERO intention of re-signing Hyman.

This is the equivalent of having someone offer you a scratch and win lottery ticket for the rotten banana you’re about to throw in the garbage - - and then refusing the offer because you want a 6/49 lottery ticket.

This franchise, considered the hockey center of the universe, has not won a playoff round in 17 ****in years. Maybe the fan base is just fed up with incompetent management over and over again. It’s just one screw up after another. Listen to me very carefully, dubas will be fired at some point, it is inevitable. I have a saying I abide by, in order to predict the future, you must look at the past. So the leafs after acquiring taveras have lost to a crappy Columbus team then another crappy team in Montreal, who wouldn’t have made the playoffs had there been no COVID and regular division. This Toronto team and franchise from the president down to the players are unlikable and have shown absolutely no accountability in there play, in there season ending interviews. Anyone who goes to pay money to see the leafs next year your out of your mind supporting this dogs breakfast of an organization.

Sure you can, both can be true. He caved with 3 RFA's that had zero leverage and then stood firm when we were going to be given an asset (low pick) for something he was going to lose anyway.

People are not linear in their personality or decision making. You can be both weak at the wrong times and be strong at the wrong times.

My point is that people whined about him being soft and bring up articles where agents call him the weakest GM, and then when he acts tough towards other GMs people tell him he doesn't need to be.

I think you are right in your assessment but I also thing those articles are right to question Dubas and his decision making skills.

Well considering we only have 6 draft picks total in these two draft years, because of him while accomplishing nothing, every draft pick counts.

I think people are complaining because Dubas keeps choosing the wrong times to be soft or when to flex his muscles and it keeps leading us to failures.

I agree to a certain extent. We do complain about everything. But Dubas for 4 years in a row has let pending UFA's walk for nothing. Just move them for Christ Sake. I never understood why we didnt trade Bozak and JVR for assets, we let Tyson Barrie walk for nothing, we let Hyman walk for nothing and in every circumstance Dubas knew that we were not resigning them, it's just horrific.

But when it comes to his own players, it's like he's a completely different person. He's not tough at all (like he doesn't even understand the concept) and he seems to treat our stars with kid gloves as if they're his children or something. He's like this overprotective parent who thinks his kids should be given everything they could possibly dream of. Coach is tough on them so fire him and install someone who coddles them. You want money, here take it, as much as you want. And of course structure the contracts in such a way that adds massive value on top of the outrageous amounts they get paid. Fans get on their case when they fail time and time again? Well, storm to the rescue, go public with the stance that he just doesn't understand how people could be critical of Marner, express absolute faith that these guys will get it done.

I believe that is the one thing standing between this team being successful as in every other aspect of the job, Dubas is pretty good IMO. But there is no accountability at all with regards to these star players and it's a damn shame. And LOL at people here who think people who criticize aren't being patient, Leaf fans are the most patient fans in the world and we deserve better.

We also had like 12 picks in 2020 because they had the foresight of realizing that this was going to be a weird draft year and tons of players would go undrafted that they could potentially sign afterwards or continue scouting.

Additionally, both Dubas and Shanny say all that, and then come out and say they need to develop a killer instinct, stand up for eachother, be more consistent, not be passive etc etc

I thought after losing to columbus in the qualifier and not even making the final 16 that Kyle would get 1 more shot.

Here we are after yet another loss, even worse considering its against Montreal and we were up 3-1. Yet Kyle is still gm and he's getting another shot.

I honestly have no clue what it will take to get rid of Kyle. Maybe he has dirt on Shanahan. But if we fail to win even a single series this year, he had better be gone.
