same starter as last year... not sure I am following.

Andersen + Campbell is not better than Mrazek + Campbell?

Campbell was struggling and the best we could do was put in an even WORSE goalie?

We just waived Mrazek - What a great upgrade this year!!

I don't understand the point you're trying to make here. I've been a fan for decades, no matter how bleak their prospects are, no matter how bad the on-ice product has been, and I still watch, I still care and want them to do better.

If you're saying you're here as a bandwagon fan as you think they're great and are going to win the cup, you do you. I've been here for a long time and will continue to be regardless.
That again isn’t what I’m saying at all, but continue to be obtuse. Why be a fan of something you hate and don’t gain enjoyment from? Is life so crappy you come here to spew negatively endlessly?
This team is 6th overall, 1st in pp 6th in pk 1st in face off and like dead last in every important goalie metric since about mid December.
They’re a hot goalie run away from being a legit cup contender. Their best players are 25 years old and their biggest liability is a 2 way ppg C who’s 60% in the face off dot. Oh ya, his contract only has 3 years after this one.

Andersen was backup. So we downgraded our backup

1) Andersen played more games than Campbell
2) You'd think history would have shown how important it is to have depth in net and multiple good options

Still - you agree we downgraded our goaltending overall. What part of this year's roster is better than last years?

I am not negative endlessly? I am being negative in a specific thread about a GM who I haven't been particularly fond of and I think rushed a rebuild that had a strong chance of having us be better than we are today had he not fumbled it.

Most of those positives you are pointing to have nothing to do with Dubas - they happened BEFORE Dubas. Many of the negatives (like no goaltending) was the result of Dubas.

This is a Dubas thread - not a referendum on the Leafs themselves.

Dubas... Happy with goaltenders... Adds a guy few have ever heard of to a one-way contract and waives one of the guys he gave a public vote of confidence.

Dubas... Not keen on adding rentals... Adds Gio.

Whatever he says he doesn't want to do, he winds up doing. Either he does really want to do the things he says he doesn't, or he's in a full-blown panic and is going against what he knows is the right thing to do. Don't like it either way.

Sometimes doing nothing and resisting the urge to just "do something" is the prudent play. Foligno proves that, but I appreciate the "go-for-it" attitude over never trying. He knows this is the year it either works, or big changes are coming. That has to be killing him. He's one more playoff round loss away from having to acknowledge his "core 4" idea was wrong. He's been able to admit parts on the periphery were mistakes. That other one's been much harder.

If Dubas does not get the Leafs a bonafide starter, Dubas will be shown his walking papers at seasons end.

Truth be told, I think Dubas is done anyway. A first round exit is going to happen no matter who we play between Tampa and Florida. The only chance Leafs have is if they go on a run and end up playing Boston. They don't look that dangerous this year.

But as far as I am concerned Dubas is playing with borrowed time. I don't see a way out for him.

This will be his last season as GM. Send him back to the O. He has proven he can't hang with the big boys and the agents have bent him over a few times.

Dubie is gonna go with a kid in da playoffs .. and it has worked as an element of surprise quite a few more times than you would think .. teams don't have good looks/reads on these young kids and if they go red hot that's it .. if Soup fails in game 1 Woll will be guy they go to for game 2

10M is Bobrovsky is clearly a pretty big screw up, but the fact they've done that and have still iced a team this solid is pretty impressive.

They are trading because they feel they have a strong window now, and they do. Stronger than ours and still giving us less than Dubas has in terms of picks over the last couple failed years.

Their prospect pool is arguably better than ours as well, so this take is strange.

The issues with prospect pools are that most other teams best ones are in the League.

Ours besides like sandin and possibly Robertson are still very much so hypothetical potential

It's like when we used to get robbed in the pool discussion because all our young dudes like Matthew, Naz, mitch, Reilly were contributing for the leafs

The only way Dubas keeps his job is to get Chychrun and Domi. Salary would have to go back with a few firsts and prospects like Knies plus plus. Domi would make a very good winger for Tavares and Nylander.

We needed grit especially in the playoffs when the refs let everything go especially to us.
Minnesota made our perfect moves in order to be a real cup contender.
Grit for the fourth line
Grit and decent defense
And a cup winning goalie

Add those three to us and I like our chances. We are soft on defense
Soft on forwards and who the hell know what we get goaltending with Campbell

First round exit again is looking possible

I think Kyle Dubas is a very good GM.

I think our next GM will be much worse.

I unfortunately don't see us getting out of round 1, and that likely spells the end for Shanahan, Dubas and company.

Damn shame.

Unfortunately, I think he’ll still be around if we get eliminated in round 1 again.

I just want a significant change in direction/the core If we falter again. That begins with firing Dubas and Shanahan. I don’t want to waste another year with this guy at the helm.

With the lack of desperation the Leafs showed at the deadline I'd almost bet money that Dubas has been guaranteed another year.

With Sateri getting claimed by Arizona you kind of wonder if the GM Brotherhood takes some kind of pleasure out of messing up Dubas’ little roster plans.
