Interesting how if someone doesn't dump on Dubas, they are in love with him. He's made some very good moves and some very bad moves and several in between. He's made his bed in committing to this core, for better or worse, and his job surely hinges on how they perform in the playoffs. I for one, respect his commitment to his team, but like you said, if they go dumpster fire mode in the first round again or even past the first round, some hard questions need to be asked about this management team from shanny down.
I pretty much agree. Not sure what you meant by the “if someone doesn’t dump on Dubas they must be love with him”. I was obviously talking about some posters that are literally blindly supporting him and see him incapable of doing anything wrong. And there are a fair few of these posters.

Sometimes I f***ing can't stand our fanbase.

If Gio was acquired today people would not be so ass hurt about the lack of activity today. Some of the crying going on in here is akin to a kid crying on their sibling's birthday because they didn't get a gift as well.

WE improved our team all while not mortgaging the future. We also have a GM who is in the hot seat and easily could have made a shoot from the hip decision to attempt to save his job. But because Kyle is always thinking what is best for this team long term, he did not.

In:
Gio, Lybushkin, Blackwell, and a 2022 3rd (WPG)

out:
2022 2nd, 2023 2nd, AZ choice of 2023 3rd or 2025 2nd, 2022 3rd (TOR), Dermott, Ritchie

pretty solid value given all the f***ing stupidity that was going on in the NHL the last couple days.

We were never 1 player or 2 players away from being the undisputed favorite in our division. There was no point in spending any more than we did. We just have to roll the dice with what we had already and hope our all-star goalie returns to form. I am happy Kyle agreed.

Good job

Those are good players, compare to our players

Be honest, did you even know who Blackwell was before yesterday?

Gio isn't the same player he used to be and Lybu looks better because unlike Holl and other D he actually brings something different

But none of these players are difference makers and definitely doesn't solve our biggest issue

While our team today is better than yesterday, our team is not good enough to win

I like the moves hes made but its not enough. In case anyone isn't paying attention the leafs window is this playoff run and two more. Look at the contracts that are due and the players that will be old AF by that time, there is gonna be a massive changes at that time. Dubas has to sell the farm but needs to find guys on term for another couple years.

It’s not like he had many options to do anything, which in his case is a good thing. Anything can happen in the playoffs, so he better hope they make some noise. Even winning a round is a failure, need higher expectations.

Bang on.

I think Kyle Dubas is a very good GM.

I think our next GM will be much worse.

I unfortunately don't see us getting out of round 1, and that likely spells the end for Shanahan, Dubas and company.

Damn shame.

We needed grit especially in the playoffs when the refs let everything go especially to us.
Minnesota made our perfect moves in order to be a real cup contender.
Grit for the fourth line
Grit and decent defense
And a cup winning goalie

Add those three to us and I like our chances. We are soft on defense
Soft on forwards and who the hell know what we get goaltending with Campbell

First round exit again is looking possible
Blackwell Gio & lyubushkin are all hard to play against.

Most hockey fans, not just leaf fans in our little bubble of Canadian team players knew who Blackwell was before yesterday. Boosh Gio & Blackwell make them harder to play against and a better team overall.

Blackwell Gio & lyubushkin are all hard to play against.

The Leafs have a defense which will have Jake Muzzin, Mark Giordano, Justin Holl, and Ilya Lyubushkin on it in the playoffs and there are still people who think that defense is "soft".

If anything, I have concerns about whether our defense will be able to move the puck in the playoffs.

I swear there are some people that will not be happy until we have 6 Chiarots on our back end and then will get in an upheaval or be totally dumbfounded when we play 90% of the game in our own end and give up 6 goals against per game.

I don’t think general knowledge of a player is a fair way to judge their value. I doubt many here knew who Bunting was and he’s a staple on our first line and is in contention for the Calder. Quite a few writer-analysts pegged Blackwell as having potential to be similar to a Coleman/Goodrow acquisition as well.

Besides that, I think Giordano does help defensively which was one of our issues, but in no world should we expect the players we got to carry our current core players to victory. It’s still on them to finally show up in a series. They’re capable of winning, but they’ll be underdogs no matter who they face.
