Only problem is they signed stamkos for 8.5 first when kucherov has been their best forward. Might of made sence to try and sign kuch first at 7.5 and then sign stamkos

There's a theory being floated (and it seems to have some merit) that Yzerman didn't actually expect Stamkos to sign for 8.5. It was, after all, his first and only offer.

Kucherov

I could see him going for 1 year at 6mil. and then renegotiate. I honestly can not imagine him doing a long term deal at only 6. He IMO could and should demand 7+ a year if TB is seeking a long term deal. How about trading Bishop?

What's the latest on his demands versus what Tampa Bay is currently offering? Any rumors about either figure and term?

I feel for Tampa. This is literally a life or death move here. They need to come up with the perfect solution and they'll be seriously gunning for the cup. I just don't know how they are going to solve it. Moving out Bishop doesn't seem to be the answer imo. They need both Bishop and Vasilevsky to be cup contenders. In fact, they need the roster exactly the way it is so who do they lose to fit Kucherov in?

If it were me (yeah, so much context missing) I would sign for one year as high as I can get just to get that cup win. Then worry about the next year.

Maybe they are just waiting until the start of the season so they can put Callahan on IR.

They don't need to wait to do that. Callahan can be put on LTIR on the last day of training camp. If they really thought that was how they were going to do things, this would be a lot closer to being resolved then it currently is.

Montreal
Pacioretty for Kucherov, but MTL would need some assurance that he's sign and not bolt to the KHL, who are reportedly offering $6-7 M tax-free.
MTL would also have to clear some cap space.

Gallagher, McCarron, +?

Pacioretty vs Kucherov

.......

MTL isnt trading 3.75M Gallagher and 4.5M Pacioretty for 7-8M Kucherov, if we're gonna give him that much $$ we might as well offer sheet him and save the assets. In any case we don't have the capspace.

Russians don't usually take discounts, even if their teammates do. They are always the "stars" so to speak.

Do they not have the cap space to sign johnny kuch should be worth about what Gaudreau wants ?

Idk what there picks are but they can offersheet kuch and let johney hockey sit forever!

Then He will probably sign for a cheap contract after sitting for a couple years. Perfect plan

But I was just joking/being sarcastic anyways.

Somebody has to offer sheet this guy, 7 years 8M per.

That would be something that Tampa could not match, however…

The draft pick compensation is calculated off the average yearly salary of the contract and that is determined by dividing the total compensation by the lesser of the number of years of the Offer Sheet or five years.

So if you offer $8.0 for 7 years that equals $56.0 divided by 5 (the lesser number) equals $11.2 per year and the compensation for that is FOUR 1st ROUND PICKS.

What team has 8 million in cap space and would give up 4 1sts for Kucherov?

Yeah, I love kucherov, but if I'm getting four 1sts for him, I'm letting him go.
