And Gauthier has already said he hopes to model his game after Kreider's.
The Rangers are paying him less than the Flyers are paying Kevin Hayes, I could care less about the age difference. Fantastic job by Gorton and JD. And great job by Kreider for proving that money isn’t everything.

He took less money for sure. Yes we would have been all happy with 6 but there had to be a compromise if he was taking less. Some people demanded he only take 4-5 years lol. That’s not fair to expect him to leave 15 million on the table
I'm not worried about Kreider aging poorly, or the contract for the next 4 years. He can skate, and he's a rare specimen. I see why they kept him, but am pleased that they also got an extra first and cleared space with the Skjei deal.
You could have spent the next 5-8 years trying to replace all of the elements Chris brings to the table. What I hope to see is that Chris' inconsistencies from the past not be an issue consistently.
To me that will be the true mark of his maturation into a leader. We all know the force that Chris can be when he's using his physical attributes, and we've all seen what it can be like on an off night. Let's see what he does.

Considering Skinner got 9x8 who knows what crazy town deals Kreider would’ve been looking at. 7x7 the minimum. You never know.
Im happy we signed him. For so many reasons he’s a core guy who made sense to keep.
Hell in a couple years when the cap soars bc the new tv deal we’re gonna be thrilled to have Kreider locked in at this price.

We finally have a real first line. It was awfully tempting to trade him, but seeing how the team is coming together and the chemistry, how could you break that up?
I look at the KZB line, Panarin taking over games, the possibility of Chytil and Kakko emerging next year as legitimate Top 6 players (They’re certainly trending that way), the success of the younger defensemen, Shesterkin living up to the hype, and the prospects still to come and boy oh boy, maybe they aren’t as far off as we think.

Everything in my gut still tells me this is Zibanejad's team.
I’m very happy. I’d say you have no idea, but you know exactly how I’m feeling. Lol. I understand the concern from some fans with the term but think this was the right move. Moving Skjei has made this contract less of a risk with the cap.
Honestly who cares. Kreider is still a leader on this team even if he doesn’t get the C. To be honest I kind of don’t even want a captain. When Macdonagh became captain I felt like he had a lot of pressure on him

I can live with the 7th year at 6.5. I couldn't live with it at 7 or 7.5. And especially not at 8, which is what I think he gets on the open market.
Remember, guys. Kreider just took a $1-1.5M discount in a tax-heavy state. So, in reality, that's a pretty huge move by him.

Im happy with this move now that Skjei was dealt. Hopefully Kreider is done with the disappearing acts because he is one of the core leaders/contributers to this team.

If the NMC is palatable, I will be closest to indifferent.
If it isn't, that will place me somewhere between don't like it and hate it.

Apparently Georgiev took Kreider re-signing as a sign that he made a sacrifice because he believes in what this team is doing. People should not underestimate what the impact Kreider signed for will have in the locker room and his stature as a leader.
Well according to some Kreider is “lazy”after all lol

Elite skaters are the last to fade, at that cap hit/term combo I’m assuming it’s heavily frontloaded with a modified NTC on the back end.
