Except against the Flyers we're 2-0 at home and 0-2 on the road and we beat the Flyers 8 in a row at home.

I don't understand why you replied with a genuine response. I haven't seen a non confrontative or negatively positioned post from him yet.

We have over .500 record at home... "we suck". .514 to be exact.

Let's play the other side of this game. We're great on the road. .641 to be exact.

What's it matter. Playoffs are a different animal. The team that hits their stride when it matters wins regardless of their season splits.

My point was, how can you take anything he says seriously after he claims a positive record "sucks".

Yeah, the playoffs are a different animal, but I think only 2 teams have won it all without having home ice in at least 1 playoff series. I also just want home ice. We've worked hard all year and at least thinking that it didn't matter that we lost a lot of heartbreaking game when it comes to the first round will make me feel like all of the heartbreaking losses didn't matter THAT much. We were still not finishing above Pitt, second makes me feel better about all of our soul crushing losses.

Be careful what you wish for. While we definitely do not suck at home, for whatever reason, we perform better on the road.

I'm not too worried about not clinching home ice though. We play the Hurricanes and the Sabres, two teams that are already eliminated... two teams that are already looking forward to playing golf in 2 weeks time. Those should be four more points for us, if Vigneault doesn't drop the ball and allow his players to look past both teams.

We have a game less than the Flyers, but are 2 points in front. Even if they win that game in hand (in a non-shootout scenario), we own the tie-break with them, as we have more ROW.

We should be able to clinch home ice within the next 2 games, then hopefully rest up against Montreal.

i'll take home ice over not having home ice any day of the week.

Absolutely. Sure, the team hasn't been that great on home ice this year, but that's in the regular season, playing against a myriad of teamw that the fans could give two ***** about. Against the Flyers, in the PLAYOFFS, though? Totally different animal.

Isn't Kreider done for the season?

Oh wait...some newspaper said the Rangers can win the Stanley Cup this year, maybe he'll make it ;)

Lol.

So you take another newspaper's report that Kreider is "done for the year" but then satirize the one that says he may be back.

The Rangers official report is that he is "out indefinitely". That means he can come back whenever.

He's began working out. It has been less than a week since he had the surgery. That is promising.

After surgery, hand injuries usually take 4-6 weeks to heal fully. 4 weeks would put him around game 5-6 of the first round.

What's with the negativity for the purpose of negativity?

Fast isn't going to replace what Kreider brings. There are no players in the organization that would. That said, Fast can bring his own strengths and hopefully use those to contribute.

4-6 weeks, we may actually have CK back before the first round is over.

Kreider skated today with a brace on the broken hand. He didn't do anything with that hand. Kreider wore a glove on his other hand and shooting one handed. The Rangers won't allow Kreider to speak to the media. From: @KatieStrangESPN

Get a grip, you make opinionated posts all the time.

Fact is, we are much better on the road than at home this year. Am I wrong to say that?

Also, am I wrong in having listened to numerous interviews over the year where the players have said they are more comfortable on the road. Most notably, Brassard.

Look, I don't love it. Specifically as a season ticket holder who loves going to games, but I want to see my team win and if we hold even the slightest of advantages by playing on the road, then I'll take it. And by all accounts, outside of a very small sample size against the flyers, this team is better and more comfortable playing away from the Garden.

Maybe it's due to the fact that the place sounds like a morgue most nights, who knows.

If you don't want to listen to what I have to say, go right ahead and use that block button on the left hand side. No need to indirectly respond to me, let alone basically **** on what I said.

Also, their record at home, in my opinion, does "suck." They are basically a 500 team. Which is also a non-playoff team. Meanwhile we are a top 5 squad on the road.

Vigneault says he's 50-50 on whether McDonagh will play before playoffs
. Kreider has a cast on so he is out indefinitely.

I do make opinionated posts. And you are not wrong to say we are much better on the road than at home.

But I don't think i'm far off with claiming that you position your posts rather negatively. It's your prerogative.

It's a case of an unrealistic optimist vs. a sometimes off pessimist. Look at my interactions with BRB and you'll see the same arguments being made.

The key question in the playoffs will be how the Rangers react when the opposition concentrates on taking away time/space and ramp up the physical play.

What building that occurs in will have much less of an impact, IMO.

Yeah maybe being on the road would be "better" but when you have home ice they get to play at home AND on the road anyway lol...You really think the Rangers would lose every game at home? Then they won't win anything anyway.

"One man's fate is another man's fortune."

Tom Renney used that. I like it as quotes go.

Good luck Jesper. Hope you wow us.

We need to clarify something. I don't remember anywhere where it was stated Kreider broke a bone in his hand. As far as I know it was always referred to as a hand injury. He played 2 games after the injury. I have had a broken bone in my hand before and could not use it at all for anything right after. Especially gripping a hockey stick. There is a lot of swelling with broken bones and he probably would not even be able to put a glove on. Zucc broke a bone as was stated and did not play another game with it.
I think it was a torn ligament, tendon, or muscle or something along those lines. Now he is wearing a brace and not a cast. I severed a ligament in my hand in a construction accident and it wasn't nearly as painful as the broken hand was. Depends upon where the injury was, but it would be possible to grip a stick with an injury like that.
Anybody have any feedback or inside information about what the injury really was?

we haven't read of a broken bone, so you may be correct...

I think its a ligament/tendon/swelling... I mean, could even be a bone chip or something small like that... But u are right, Zucc has a minor bone fracture and didn't work out for a week while it healed. Kreider has been working out for 2 days, and now skating.

I think we get him back in the 1st round, perhaps beginning of the 2nd round

What building that occurs in will have much less of an impact, IMO.

I don't think St. Louis and Nash should be on the same line in the playoffs. I understand the potential for a lethal line, but in the playoffs, teams clamp up defensively, and good offensive chances are tough to come by.

The key to our offensive success this entire season has been balance. Vigneault has found a way to evenly spread out our offensive output throughout our top 3 lines.

Making a superline defeats that purpose. Spreading the wealth will create mismatches for other teams. Who warrants the top defensive pairing? Nash or St. Louis?

More importantly, Nash and St. Louis need to produce. Similarly, Henrik needs to play his best. Too long has the Rangers tune been that their star players underperform when the time matters the most.

In terms of physical play, it goes both ways. A team with less talent can have a chance by playing more physically against a team with more talent. Why this is sometimes effective is because the physical play warrants an emotional reaction from the other team, oftentimes deviating them from their successful game plan. Forcing a more talented team to play down to a more physical game plan means they 1) are playing a style of play they might not be as comfortable and successful playing and 2) forces them to stray from what makes them successful in the first place. Conversely, ignoring another team's attempts to make you play their physical style of hockey, and focusing on the game plan that made you successful will often times make the other team's plan ineffective. The trick is not going down to their level, harder done than said.

Can the Rangers stay disciplined when other teams try and coax them into a physical style of play? The Flyers have been successful at getting them to play their style of play twice... and they won both times. Vigneault focused his guys the other two times and they won relatively handily. What will it be? The same tune will be sung in each series. Play your game, have your stars show up, you'll be more successful than not. Stoop down to physical play and have your stars disappear? Recipe for disaster.

"Rangers won't let kreider speak to the media"?

Lol what the hell? He could just simply not divolge info about the injury but they just flat out don't let the media talk to him?

So because you don't like my "tone" everything I say is automatically wrong? Also, please tell me, after 20+ years of loving this team, why would I EVER be an optimist. This team deserves the pessimism I may or may not relay in my posts.

I'll give credit where it's due. It's not due to their home record this year.

Yeah maybe being on the road would be "better" but when you have home ice they get to play at home AND on the road anyway lol...You really think the Rangers would lose every game at home? Then they won't win anything anyway.

Do I think they'll lose every game at home, absolutely not. Do I think their chances this year are better if they're on the road, yes.

I'm not going to go on some blind optimism that this team will all of a sudden play great at home because it's the playoffs. The Garden was as quiet as a regular season game in their playoff games last season. I don't see why it will be any less different this year, at least over the first round or two.

At the end of the day, I don't think it's a big deal either way. But the people who are screaming OMGAHHH we lose two games, we'll blow home advantage, I think are entitled to being questioned as to why they're on the proverbial ledge, when frankly, playing at home has done us few, if any favors this season.

You talk about me being a pessimist, which I'll admit I am, but my arguement in this sense, is actually towards people becoming pessimistic based on our two recent losses and THEIR NEGATIVE reactions to the team as a whole, based on home advantage.

So if you went back and looked at the other threads I was discussing this in, you would realize my original arguement stems from me actually DEFEDING the way the team is playing, in general.
