I am pretty sure you are right, but you have to realize that there is a good reason for Drury to send him down. Drury needed to keep Kravtsov's contract net year low so he can keep the team together. Like imagine Kravtsov played every game with all of his attributes, thats a 15mil 8 year contract MINIMUM. and then imagine he practiced for a full year with DADDY REAVEs? omg he would be best physicality no matter what forever. Trust the process.
Tbh a lot of jabronis in this thread are acting like this is the type of player we’re talking about here. Instead of a 21 year old with mediocre production that has quit on this organization twice now.

He’s an extremely smart defensive player though. Makes sense because his vision is amazing too. So his hockey IQ is elite I would say. Offensively and defensively.

Wow, elite? I just don't see it.

How could the player he describes not be #1 in the Rangers prospect pool for the last several years? He was at best an honorable mention in all of the redrafts.

I thought he was a nifty player with a lot of skill and was eager to see him come over but I never expected anything elite from him, especially his defense and physical presence.

If he is that good then teams should be knocking down Drury's door for a deal to be made. We have 5 teams rumored. 5.

If anything, Sather had a reputation for actually getting European players to come over to the US
Sather famously wouldn't give Marek Zidlicky a 1 way deal (omg the horror!) and traded him in a package for Mike Dunham (lol) for him to promptly have a 14 year career with 6 40+ point seasons.

Dunno about that one.

Under no circumstances do you trade him for anything less than 100 cents on the dollar.

Who gives a f*** about a 2nd round draft pick or whatever, its not about the return, it's about disincentivizing the next guy who gets a bright idea he can pull this.

The team has prospects flying out of its ears.

Thats why you sit him in until the deadline, unless someone blows you away with an offer.

He made this mess and hurt the team, dont do him any favors.

How quickly some forget about Pavel Buchnevich.

And Shesty too.

There is no curse but bad drafting and the personality lottery and the hundreds of other things that happened between NYR and Kravtsov, which we wont get to know unfortunately.

Remains to be seen what Kravtsov really is as a player. It was interesting to see his junior numbers, nothing to write home about imo. I don't buy the "he has to play major minutes to thrive/needs the big stage" argument. As much as I like danglers, there isn't much space left in the game for that.

Some tweet said, we're in the "driver's seat" for this one. Five or six teams interested. Hope we get out of this unscathed and with a late 1st.

So you want to cut your nose off to spite your face? I like it!!! Count me in!!!

I'm just sick of this franchise blundering our rebuild away, anyone think they couldn't have predicted a pattern here after Kravtsov left last time? You either commit to him or move him before you get to here, i mean its not like this is a surprise or that we haven't seen this before. They went through this with this player and with Andersson, why does this keep happening? This org is hard on the head some times

Im sure the Rangers would love to reconcile with Kravtsov and have him come back into the fold, but at a certain point you have to think about how the locker room (in NY & HFD) will respond to that. Seems to me like he will have to gain back a lot of players trust, especially after he was apparently told by a veteran player that "ice time is earned not given." After what was preached ad nauseum all summer and Training Camp, it seems like Kravstov seriously doesnt get it

Where'd you hear that?
I know one of the writers mentioned that other Rangers players thought he was really skilled and all but kind of a floater and wasn't ready to put in the work.
Kind of wouldn't be surprised if that's also part of what happened. When you've got potential teammates questioning whether the guy is gonna get it done in the NHL and he's thrown a shitfit several times...

Look, I think the Rangers f***ed this up one way or another. Either don't draft the guy in the first place, or if you're going to treat him differently then it needs to be about having the clearest of communication with him about why you want him to play for the team but what you're expecting him to do and how to accomplish that, and make completely sure you're not misleading him intentionally or unintentionally.

I have this vague feeling there was a lot of "we want you to make the team, there's a spot that's yours to earn in camp, we're excited for you to play for us" that got interpreted as "your spot in the lineup is secure" and could have been avoided with some clearer communications and less wishy washy bullshit

maybe something along the lines of a Kravtsov+ for Fiala in the offseason? Minnesota has $12-15M in dead cap next 3 seasons

Or that type of trade, where a team is cap strapped and can't afford their top6 talent.

The problem is that ice time is given to some players, but has to be earned by others. You can't preach it's a meritocracy, but practice favoritism. You just can't do that and expect everyone to accept that, especially if it's that person who's suffering from it.

I could almost deal with a certain amount of entitlement or divaness if the guys actually dominated on the score sheets. It feels kind of sad to be bending down to guys that had 2-3 career goals for us.

Lias seems so long ago. He is still only 23. Wonder if he will mature. Maybe we should trade for him lol. :D

Where? They've had a new coach/GM for 3 games. If Kravtsov is mad at how things were done by DQ/Gorton he's just showing a lack of intelligence because that has absolutely nothing to do with how things are now.

Screw Kravstov.

This was his decision, just like it was ADA's continuing being a moron.

Im not trying to rectify anything with this kid. He can either rot in Russia or we trade him if we are lucky enough to get fair value for him. I don't want him anywhere near the team with that piss poor attitude.

He didnt earn shit.
I stated earlier, I can understand why he might be frustrated. They had 3 "top-6" rw's last year in him, Kakko, and Buchnevich. Buchnevich was traded. Most seemed to think Kakko and Kravtsov would be the RW's for the top-2 lines, but instead they decide to "try" Lafreniere and then Kredier on the right. A position neither of them have played. With that in mind, I can see Kravtsov saying, "Oh F this place....." No different than if your supervisor leaves and you are hoping to get promoted to his/her spot. Instead they give it to someone from a different department. I get it, Kravtsov may have pissed them off too with his attitude/work ethic. What I am also wondering is if there are issues in the locker room. Does he hate his teammates and wants out hence why he is willing to go somewhere else to play in the AHL?

I remember reading it somewhere, but im looking at past Carp/Vince/Mollie articles and cant find it. Editing the post to take out that line because i dont want to perpetuate something unconfirmed

Why hasn't Gauthier stormed off to Quebec?

This situation has the potential to have us “what if-ing” ourselves to death, but the more I think about it, the more management’s indecisiveness bothers me. This kid should have been moved as soon as the Lafreniere lottery was won. It was at that moment that we knew we’d be in winger overload, and they already knew that this was a potential outcome with VK.

They were in love with Lundell at the 2020 draft. Rightfully so. You have to think something could have been worked out with Florida in that situation.

If we escape this with Hayton or Brisson I’ll be doing backflips. And I’ve been a VK supporter from the very beginning.
