I guess both Wilds & Canucks GM`s will be on the phone soon.
Our current new Rangers coach decided not to go with Kratsov so he sent him down to AHL - why is this an issue with russian players and is he lazy? :)

  • Draft: 2018 NYR, 1st rd, 9th pk (9th overall)

Also..if you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to major in a stupid f***ing major like... philosophy. That's your own damn fault. Go to a community college for that degree.

but Community Colleges don’t have the drinking games of better Universitys.

Strome is a road block. Honestly, so is Kreider. They’ve taken a rebuild loaded with draft picks yet resigned veterans or won’t move veterans out.

Look at this, Mika, Panarin, Strome, Kreider. That four of your top six. Imo, should be just Mika and Panarin then fill in the kids. Nope, let’s demote kids who were part of a rebuild and keep the veterans. None of which are apparently Captain material. Com’on
Agreed. I think kreider is a band-aid tbh. He’s still solid. Especially on the PP, but he’s going to be destined for 3rd line sooner rather then later.
It seems to me, Gallant really didn’t want Zibby flanked by 2 youngster, really don’t blame him either. The kids have a better chance to succeed playing on a line with 2 established players.
I think the main objective was to have Blais and Kravy move around and see where chemistry fits by years end. I mean, injuries are bound to happen. But it’s no mistake to me that we’re seeing
LaF-Zibby(vet)- Kreids( vet)
panarin( vey)-Strome( vet)- kakko
To start
Really hope/hoped to see
Goodrow(vet)-Barron-Blais/kreider etc
It a solid formula used by many nhl teams, especially breaking in youngsters to optimize their opportunities and mitigate a little responsibility.
Finding a winger in trade/UFA or even replacing him from the farm is easier to do then replacing a defenseman or center.
I have a feeling Drury really wants to move Kreids when his NMC expires. Certainly more then he wants to move Trouba and his deal. At least as it stands currently

He outscored Gauthier in fewer games, not that that’s a tall task since Gauthier couldn’t score if his life depended on it. Kravtsov absolutely should’ve made the team over several of them, including Barclay Goodrow who looked awful.

Source? BTW, Gauthier has outscored Kravtsov in NHL play to this point, 11 points in 47 games vs. 4 points in 20 games. You want to compare AHL track records it looks even worse for AK. It's absolutely not a thing to write home about for either of them but please, facts should be straight.

Upshot is: Gauthier is a spare forward and Kravtsov would have only benefitted from large amounts of playing time. Gauthier was not his competition. If Gauthier was his competition, you're telling me Kravtsov is at best a spare forward.

Hardly noticeable? Because he was injured? He only played 2 games + 5 mins. His first game he got the most 1st star votes on the team and his other game he scored a goal, and certainly would’ve been voted one of the 3 stars had there been a poll.

But I guess you have to hand a spot to guys when you give them contracts that make you the laughing stock of the hockey world, forget a top 10 pick who’s one of the most productive U-21 players in KHL history.
That’s not my problem he got hurt? It sucks, but that is life. And that probably played a factor into who was selected on the roster and who wasn’t. Go down to Hartford and prove you are healthy and ready to go by potting points.

And you know you can score a goal and still be hardly noticeable, or very meh/average. And thats what happened. Youre going off of 1st place votes for one particular game in preseason on hockey fan forum as a barometer to measure a player’s success? That’s nonsense.

Gauthier was more noticeable whether you want to believe it or not. He may not have scored but he drew a penalty that led to a goal. So that evens out to me. Don’t you think the Coaching staff saw the same? Like do you think a whole new coaching staff is out to get him? You thought he was far better than Goodrow? I don’t know about that. Goodrow was way more involved and played his role on a team that needs defined roles. Same with Blais. Same with even Hunt. And no I don’t think Hunt is better but was Kravtsov going to play on the 4th line? Nope. Be sensible, use common sense.

It is disappointing, but this is more on the player than anyone else. Some responsibility has to be taken by the kid. Great he can be immature and request a trade basically go the route of Lias. Look how well that is working out for Lias in LAK. Not looking too hot for his career.

The Gauthier penalty was a makeup call for the missed tackle on Kravtsov moments earlier

When you go from $925k to like $85k, I get it you want a change (is that even the case?). No prob, he should have gone to his agent who would go to Drury and get something done quietly that would work for everyone. Chances are whilst this was happening, he’d already would have been called up anyway. We’ve already established that Drury sucks at contingency planning, but this kid and his agent suck too. Everyone sucks. If you disagree you suck too.

I'll repeat something from a friend who works for another organization. Right, wrong or otherwise, here was his response:

"Part of the challenge for the Rangers with some of these higher European picks has been that they took guys who didn't need to make it to the NHL to be okay. Lias is the son of an NHLer who has lived a comfortable life and could continue to live a comfortable life even if he told the Rangers to go jump in a lake. Kravtsov comes from an affluent family and has never faced the prospect of failure resulting in having to go work in a factory somewhere."

And from what I've read, Panarin came from nothing and values every inch of what he has earned for himself and the support it brings his family.

A lot to think about in those contradicting mindsets.

Chytil also came from Europe like Andersson and Kravtsov. Never pouted or refused any AHL time and grew because of it and to the Rangers knowledge never had immature issues. I blame the players here for being selfish and they are not acting like adults or pro athletes. At 18 you are considered an adult and should act like one. Don’t pout cause you did not make the roster, why not worker harder to get on the roster later on.
After Andersson and Kravtsov I have a better appreciation for Chytil.

Kinda hilarious that this is also at least in part the product of refusing to play Kreider on the 3rd line. I wonder how many games he will last at RW before they realize it doesn’t work.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume Reaves plays about 40 games.

The questions are then vs Kravtsov

Does Gauthier offer more on the fourth line - yes

Does Blais offer more in the top 6 - probably not

Does Goodrow offer more in the top 6 - probably yes.

That + waiver eligibility was probably enough to spell his room. Kravtsov needed to show some maturity and wait for poor play/injury, that’s out so he’s done as a Ranger. Which is a shame since I don’t feel 100% confident in LaFreniere this year.

Many say krav is immature and laf and kak arent
Laf and kak were never demoted eventho they should have
They were both awful their rookie years but were handed a spot
So they never were delt the adversity krav was.
If u can hand them both a spot despite how bad they r u should do the same with krav especially since krav is so much better than laf and kak were their rookie years

Let Georgiev knock some sense into him.

You know, as pissy as Georgiev has been about his situation a few times over the past couple years, give him credit, he showed up to play.

I can forgive a pissy attitude from a guy who is looking for ice time if he puts in the work afterward. Kravtsov could learn something there.

Since being drafted Kravtsov has catapulted to the #1 ranked prospect in hockey according to Button, had an incredible D+1 season; was the best player in camp in 2019 but got screwed out of a spot to accommodate Kakko; last season he led his KHL team in goals. At the end of the season he joined the Rangers and flashed more skill than Laf or Kakko ever had in the NHL; and was voted one of the 3 stars every single game.

what have Laf and Kakko done since being drafted? Put up historically bad numbers? Been slow and tired after every 20 seconds into their shifts? If Kravtsov has been mediocre they have been an absolute trainwreck. But oh well. I hope we get someone else who has finesse skill and is an elegant skater like Kravtsov. Our team is slow as molasses and we somehow managed to get a 1st & 2nd overall pick who’s biggest weakness is the most important skill in hockey, skating!

Really? That must have been some feat when he scored 4 points in like 20 games late in the season. You really are a master at spinning the truth as you see it. TDA, Buch, and Kravs are all sure fire HOF's according to you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the team sending him down for a short while. Gallant did not want him playing 4th line minutes and with Blais playing so well there was no room in top 9 right now. Stop trying to shit on Kakko and Laf to make Kravs somehow look better. They are both good players are more ready to make an impact. I like Kravs as a player and want him on this team long term but he needs to work on his maturity tbh. It happened the first time he was here, it happened in KHL, and now it's happening again. He has done nothing at this level to make him immune to an AHL stint. Jones was far better at camp and preseason and we didn't hear a peep from him when he was sent down because he knows his opportunity in the show is not that far away. It worked for others as well including Chytil. I think he's going to be a good one and I hope he changes his mind and things can be worked out between the 2 sides but it looks unlikely at this point.

laff situation is completely different. Covid, his league might not even play and the ahl was a clusterfk.

kakko probably should have been demoted but we had zero depth. Like nonobdy to call up to replace him that was nhl ready.

now we have options. Sucks for Krav, but it is what it is. Just work harder and force them to keep u up. His talent probably would have prevailed if he put in the work for a couple weeks in the A.

I'm reminded of a Herb Brooks quote from Miracle through this debacle, paraphrasing.

"You think you can make it to the NHL on talent alone? You don't have enough talent to make it on talent alone".
there are players who do, and he’s one of them along with guys like Laf. It’s a guy line Chytil who doesn’t have the talent alone.

The lack of foresight and contingency planning is alarming and bad asset management. I think Edge mentioned they should have had a deal or 2 ready to go if this became real.

The biggest gripe against Drury in the situation is this. Why did they not trade him in the offseason before this became a problem? Kravtsov is a proven malcontent but this was avoidable.
