We could be looking at Ockham's razor: The simplest explanation is usually the best one.
The organization saw Kravtsov as a top 6 forward and felt it would be best for him and the team if he started the year in Hartford where he would get those minutes along with first unit PP time along with PK time.
Vitali felt it was beneath him and balked at the opportunity.
The only thing troubling was even though he was nursing an injury he still should have been brought on the team building junket to RI, even if just to hang with his teammates and toss a couple back and enjoy in the story tellings.

hello interesting. somewhat.'

just jumping in here. from toiletroom in fact. been a pushing and dropping heavy things and then just randomly seeing this news in toiletchair. as there many thoughts came out so here it goes.

not so surprising this. there seem many guys trying makin spots at top lines of prioritated offensive lines of this team. so much frustrations and fightings of not often at this levels even at NHL seen i think. some must go it seem. or some ..hey wait..listen...they even at kakko maybe trying makin him a defensivespecialist. think about this. too many man at this system for offensive missions. but hey. kakko must not be at that place. he offensive number 1 here or something wrong. at him question is is he blobbed beyond all recognizing or only musselated? this is somewhat worrying at this point. what for future ?

anyways...i can imagining after summer boys meeted at N : Y again and some guys having hard tensions, hard thoughts. other relaxed knowing they from team headquarters and coaches a trusted and wanted. imagine kravtsov coming in and seein heavily musselated? kakko after summer for examples. and then zibanjenad makin papers for 8 years of superdollars. so what have a kravtsov from not northern american territory a thinking?

another thing listen. they want him at AHL to playing. think like this. there a new world. there can be quit hard rough atmosphere and problemated mates and players. lots of other things there than hockey a going . beer drinking in heavy stylee after and before game, pusching and fisting whit teammates on streets for sure or in small apartment for himself to get locked with candy and VideoGames for selfpleasure comforts. all this and no teamdoctors from anywhere to look after you. everyboty knowing this caos can bring and sent to farmleague itself...can make you suffer and want not to play hockey at good level. many there a example of players who not putting up any points at there and then slowly atletics of player like disseappearing and then after one two years player a forgotten. a never been, never did he make it. and then back to like KHL and hurt.

if kravtsov here a trusted and like wanted to put at top line sure he like others makin points and getting millions and millions but at this point there in this team for player like kravtsov can get really bad living at farmleague quarters and going up forward. i can understand him wanting to get elsewhere to build up own careers. they here seem to put it on other players. and it can be for verly long time and kravtsov can get downwards spiral and never going up from here.

im sure he having this bad feeling already before season. season coming . they put up big contracts on zibanjenad and kakko musselated, small first pick whats his name again? smiling and having candy from team headquarters and so forths....

and then he exploding finally? surprising? no. they could have him a place here a given but will there be icetimes for everyboty? i say kakko if mussel and fast. then he 1st line. built from there. also is there a money for everyboty?

and kakko. maybe they trying to make you defensive player here? not taking that bait please. remember only player with many points to scoreboards jumbotrone will make it really big money. and only player with many points also selling dresses of masses with familyname at back

This and this.

He might have reacted differently if he felt more a part of the group. (An observation, not an excuse)

I've never heard his Russian-speaking teammates comment about him. What kind of person is he?

I am usually one for giving young players the benefit of doubt when disagreements occur (like when Krav went back to Russia). More often than not, we get controlled leaks skewed towards the club's side of the story. The player also has only one career and needs to make his own choices. I am still open to the possibility that promises were made and not kept and that Krav has a legitimate reason to feel slighted.

However. To just up and request a trade and refuse to report to the AHL when you have proven next to nothing in the NHL looks like a huge over reaction and from the outside has the apperance of a player with some serious growing up to do, and I'm fine if he does that growing up somewhere else. Letting him go for cheap may not be ideal from an asset management pov, but it will probably better for the overall atmosphere in the hockey club and locker room to just ship him out. If he doesn't want to be here and isn't willing to earn his spot down in the A, then fine. Good luck and goodbye.

Players will be unproven if they aren’t given actual opportunity. Laf and Kakko can look like dogshit and can stay. Why are there higher standards for Krav? He’s a skilled winger, not a gritty. defense first kind of player who needs extra AHL seasoning. I thought he was well on his way into growing into a quality hockey player. He should have been given a real chance before being sent down.

Brooks's piece doesn't even make sense. He wrote that, in the exit interview last season, the team spoke to Kravtsov about improving the way he trains in the off-season. Kravtsov hears this and, per Brooks, assumed he was going to be traded?? No, dumbass, they want you to improve your training. Is this kid a bit goofy or something?
Sounds like he was actually hoping for a trade and he tried to read between the lines to see what he wanted to.

Rangers: Vitaly, we like you, lots of potential, just train harder, work harder.

Kravtsov to buddies: They hate me, they'll def be trading me soon as long as I keep my shit habits! *high five*

Spare me the entitlement. The younger generations are saddled with the trash that the older generations have heaped upon them. My parents and grandparents were able to go to school for pennies on the dollar. Those people who started working at Goldman in the 80's sat pretty for the world they grew up in.

Now, you go to Harvard and you leave with hundreds of thousands in debt and you're expected to work to the bone for 80K just so you can pay off loans.
I hear both sides of the argument, though I'll add to your point that buying a house in the 70's-80's used to be able to be comfortably done on one income and not take on tremendous debt for most of the remainder of your life for it as well. It's a different world.

You mean after tearing up the KHL and AHL?

from what I can tell, when drury traded Buch, kravtsov believed he would have a top6/9 starting spot on the right side no questions asked. He got a bit blind sided and didn’t expect a kreider/LaF switch to RW and Blais being more then a 4th line player.
It’s very similar to the ADA situation last camp. Coming fresh off his new deal, ADA did not expect to be playing 3rd pair/no PP 1st unit.
Miller having success with trouba in camp not only killed his top 4 dreams, but Fox had also taken his 1PP duties. He now had to fight just to get a 3rd pair role, much like Krav having to fight for a top 9 role.
When Krav found out he was going to the A, I’m guessing he reverted back to his old spoiled/pouty ways. He believes the A is beneath him, he has since his rookie year. Sure he went to Hartford willingly when he came back from Russia the 1st time because he had to, he hurt his value and he knew he’d have to put in time there making amends so to speak.
The kid has talent/size no doubt, but he’s got a serious attitude/drive problem. When the going gets tough and adversity rears it’s head, people either rise to the occasion, or fold like a cheap suit. Crying about it and demanding a trade without going to Hartford for at least a month or so to start the year is such a rich spoiled brat thing to do. You can tell in life, if things don’t go his way, he throws a tantrum. This is twice now.
I’m not saying he doesn’t play hard or didn’t deserve a spot, but it seems to me the kids has no balls.
He should have reported to Hartford. If he ripped it up down there for a month or 2 and there was no intention in calling him back up, then imo, he has a legitimate gripe. At that point, I’d want to be traded and start fresh else where as well. It’s pretty evident he doesn’t like competition, he wants things handed to him and tbh we don’t need that. Not now when we’re fixing our culture/identity. Add in the fact there were questions maybe about his training or getting along with other teammates ( not feeling like he’s a part of the group) and it’s better for him to leave and not let this drag on. Don’t want that toxic attitude anywhere near our kids while they are young and impressionable.
He also lowered his trade value to the point where Drury is now dealing from a handicap. I’m sure other teams will have interest, but the first think they are going to bring up to drury is that he has questions about his drive/character. I’d be surprised if he got a 2nd for him at this point on a 1 for 1 deal.
Hopefully it turns out like the Lias for Cuylle trade for us.
We haven’t had much luck taking euro players in the 1st rd as of late. Hopefully chytil breaks the mold. There’s very little doubt in my mind that if Lundkvist didn’t make 3rd pair/team right out of camp, his going to the A for a long period of time would be a problem as well.
If he gets beat out by Schneider/Jones/Robertson next camp for 1 of the last 2 D spots he’ll demand a trade as well....

Canucks fan here, I don't know much about him, what kind of player is he, why does he want out and what kind of ask would the Rangers (and you) want in return for him? Also are you guys still looking for toughness after the Wilson situation? Reaves/ Blais/ Goodrow is pretty solid but we have guys like MacEwen with some untapped power winger potential who we waived in favor for Chiasson, so if someone like him is of interest he'd be all yours.
Lol.

Kravtsov is being vilified here. I get it. There is fault on both sides.

I am curious though if this request is simply cultural. Soccer players, even young, unproven ones, request transfers to other clubs when there isn’t a role available to them at their current one. Perhaps Kravtsov just isn’t aware of the gravity of a trade request in a NA league?

MacEwen has Power winger potential? LMFAO

This is definitely more personal/petty than than just him having to play "in a league that's below him". There is no way that he was going to spend more than like 10 games there if he actually played to his skill level. His ego just got too bruised

Another factor I think is a lot of players actually WANT to play for the Rangers given their history, etc... and will try to do what it takes to get a shot here until they it's obvious they won't make it. Whereas I don't sense that Kravtsov has any sort of affinity or appreciation playing for a top 6 team.

Situation sucks but I don't think he will be the loss some people anticipated. This guy is Nick Zherdev with less skill. There's not a lot of teams (especially decent ones) that are willing to put up with this level of brattiness/woe is me long-term.

I still cant believe we r losing this kid and we're stuck with kreider playing a position he cant play
Kreid should be on the third line
This would have given us the best bottom 6 in the league
Pan stro kak
Laf zib krav
Kreid chy good
Blais roon hunt
Reaves gauth

If krav struggles u play gauth for a game or 2
Or move blais up

Pretty damn sure Kravtsov and the Rangers are done with each other and it’s just a matter of moving on and that includes all of us too. The sun is going to come up and I’m ready to move on. This may play out very similarly to what happened with Lias. I’m not sure it’s a very big loss when a player is that incapable of handling any kind of adversity. I’ve mentioned many times before that for all his talent his production has always lagged so the future will tell when/if he finds himself another NHL destination. I expect someone will give him another chance but there are only so many times a player can get away with that stunt before he’s persona non grata.

Style wise and how he looks playing; very similar to Pettersson. Except a much better skater

Maybe we can get a late first though very doubtful, more likely a late 2nd and middling prospect who is 3-4 years away. I'll take it.

I didn't know a lot of these things about him. If he's a spoiled kid, I don't see him making it. Not training in the offseason? what?
He’s a spoiled Rich kid. I’m sure we all know /have seen the type.
They’ll work hard to a point, but when a curveball comes and things don’t go as planned, they pout and throw a tantrum instead of buckling down.
Over and over again I’ve seen this displayed in various forms throughout my life. Kids who have everything basically handed to them their entire lives don’t handle adversity very well.( not just talking about hockey either)

I might also add Pajuniemi had a very good camp. He made a lot of smart plays and he has a shot. The Rangers kept him over in Finland an extra year to work on his overall game and it looked good. After Barron he is the forward prospect in Hartford I’m most intrigued by. He came really close twice to scoring in preseason games rocketing one off the crossbar and getting absolutely robbed by Bernier in the first Devils game.

There's levels of pedigree in difference. Laf and Kakko were the #1 and #2 picks. why? Because they dominated ALL competition. Kravtsov was a late 1st ( at best ) then he had a great playoffs and catapulted.. He's been over hyped since that. His results have been mediocre at best.

He's a good talent but not a good player. You see the differences right away. Laf and Kakko will also do whatever is necessary for the team. If Kakko got sent down do you think he would have demanded a trade?

If it were actually a meritocracy Kravtsov would’ve made the team over Kakko back in 2019 when he was the best player in camp and by all accounts looked better than Kakko.

People are gonna be homers. Blame
VK. Hand wave this away.

What this shows more than anything is that this org is still a complete clusterf*** shitshow.

Just mowing down top 10 picks. Mowing them down. “We don’t need him!!”...yea that’s not the point Vito.

it’s such bs. Rebuild dependent on prospects yet don’t seem to have a care in the world when Top 10 picks request to walk before having a legit chance to contribute. The NFL has to tailor to players in their mid-20’s and understand the kids are still learning. Not this circus, goodbye we’re good.

Since being drafted Kravtsov has catapulted to the #1 ranked prospect in hockey according to Button, had an incredible D+1 season; was the best player in camp in 2019 but got screwed out of a spot to accommodate Kakko; last season he led his KHL team in goals. At the end of the season he joined the Rangers and flashed more skill than Laf or Kakko ever had in the NHL; and was voted one of the 3 stars every single game.

what have Laf and Kakko done since being drafted? Put up historically bad numbers? Been slow and tired after every 20 seconds into their shifts? If Kravtsov has been mediocre they have been an absolute trainwreck. But oh well. I hope we get someone else who has finesse skill and is an elegant skater like Kravtsov. Our team is slow as molasses and we somehow managed to get a 1st & 2nd overall pick who’s biggest weakness is the most important skill in hockey, skating!
