I would take one of LA’s centers for him although I don’t know where that player fits right now

Guess you stuff them in Hartford for the year

What is Kravstov owed?

Having trouble understanding it.

He's not owed anything. But he is in a position to possibly force NYRs hand for a trade. He's looking out for #1; can't blame him for that.

We NHL fans are just as entitled as the players we criticize. Like players should be slaves to our favorite team and 'pay their dues' no matter what? Get real, this is the real world. If Kravtsov can force a trade to better his chances for a starting role, more power to him. Most of us would do the same in our respective occupations.

Damn people around here turn on players fast. Isnt the first , won’t be the last.
I mean were you expecting people to pen love letters to him after he refused an AHL assignment and asked for a trade? People are Rangers fans first and foremost. Most are, anyway. Even if you don't agree with him being sent to Hartford or whatever I can't imagine why anyone that wasn't already fawning over him would feel much affinity at this point.

Kratzov is acting like an entitled D bag.
I dot care how skilled you think you are , pay your dues and earn it. Championship teams are not made up of players not wiling to sacrifice to win. Kid is thinking about himself and only himself.
I can easily see him completely out of the league in three years.
Over rated .

That was complete BS, he was in the gym nearly everyday all summer and on the ice; he meant he hasn’t played in a game. He was even getting up at 6AM to go to the gym while on vacation in the Dominican Republic.
That doesn’t mean shit. Literally every athlete does that man. You want to be the best? Be f***ing Kobe. Be already done with practice before the team even shows up for breakfast.

Pretty loose definition of the term "slave" there.

I said before, in a vacuum, that there's nothing wrong with a professional athlete--a guy with a limited window to make his money--doing what he can to maximize his earnings and find the best spot for himself. I think most people here get that, too.

And yes, in the real world, everyone looks out for themselves, too. But just like this situation, people generally aren't just handed a C-suite position at their company, they still have to demonstrate a certain capability before they get where they want to be. Having impressive academic credentials and doing a killer job as a marketing manager doesn't entitle you to the CMO position. If some little shit comes in and makes a demand for a promotion he's not ready for and quits when he doesn't get it, I'm not going to feel badly for him.

I don't think understanding why he's doing what he's doing and thinking it's the wrong move are incompatible.

Except what fans don’t know is players get blacklisted. They really don’t have the freedom the fans think. You want out? Sure. You want to play for another team? Not likely. And If You those contract talks are absolutely BURTAL. this is the worst possible thing he could be doing for his career.

And don’t use the word Slave. You clearly don’t understand the meaning of a f***ing Slave.

forcing a trade as a way for "looking out for yourself" can also backfire if you get a rep of being a primadonna which Kravtsov seems in danger of
Of course he can always bail to the KHL and that's fine but then it depends whether he wants to be a NHLer or not

Pay their dues no matter what? What does that even mean?

I just expect him to be a professional and act like a man, like 98% of the rest of the athletes out there in all sports.

I don’t disagree with you. This is his choice. And it’s my opinion as a fan to say good riddance. You don’t win with immature players. Nothing wrong with that

The reality is that he is the ninth overall pick to exactly one team-- the Rangers. To anyone else he's worth the combination of how much skin they put in the game by trading for him and whatever he proves. Even if he's just looking out for himself, it's hard to believe this is actually an effective way to do it.

I came to the US not speaking a word of English when I was 10. Was picked on in school for years. Had two concussions from karate and soccer. Eventually graduated in financial engineering in 2010 (when Wall Street wasn’t hiring). Was unemployed for over a year after my first employer downsized IB analysts. Now I’m a portfolio manager in electricity and gas derivatives and an adjunct finance professor. You need to fight to succeed.
Not everyone does ;)

Seattle is another team i could see being interested. They don't have much in the way of high-end skill in their system past Beniers

I can see Vitali in Vancouver for their 1st if you can finesse Benning out of it. They need help in their top 9.
good idea. benning needs a homerun at this point, i think. this would be a big swing.

Krav has obvious talent and a huge ceiling, but I have no patience, personally, for guys who aren’t willing to pay their dues.

Look, I love talent and I want the most of it on this roster that we can fit while being a winner. But while I was born in ‘86 and saw the 90s Rangers, I truly cut my teeth as a grown up hockey fan on a team of guys like Dubi, Cally and G. It’s great to have the high end talent on the roster that we didn’t have when those guys were around, but what made that team into a team in the first place was the identity of the prove yourself kids who were the leaders in that room. If Krav hadn’t already pouted and fled to Russia once before, I may see things differently, but all things considered, I can’t sympathize. Sorry you weren’t handed a spot yet. Maybe you can cry to Morgan Barron or Zac Jones.
