I'd like to hope there's a chance for reconciliation but as this is the second incident and it didn't end well with Andersson it doesn't seem likely.

Can we get a top 6 center for him if we add? We've got defensemen.

Well, moving on...

New Best Friend™ Pajuniemi looked promising, and he must be jumping for joy hearing this news and seeing a gaping hole open up on the RW depth chart. He has good offensive instincts and a cannon.

Good on him for shutting up and taking his licks and deciding to take his chances in Hartford to round out his game so it can supplement his offense; what a novel concept.

kid just does not have the stones to play in NYC. Go to Hartford and force the rangers brass to call you back up. Misguided. Ahh, didn't see much greatness from his play in the KHL to warrant such hype anyway. Gordie Clark thought he was smarter than everyone else I guess

If there is a silver lining that can be taken from this is that the organization moved on from the European scout that made all of these abysmal recommendations over the last decade. Hoping the new guy is better at assessing prospects for both talent and temperament.

Their IG & Twitter comments are pretty bad. You can also like how a team is constructed and still think the GM is doing a piss poor job of asset management. For instance I am one of Drury’s biggest detractors on here but I’m also one of the biggest advocates of grit. Machinehead is one of the biggest new age hockey guys (focused on analytics & less grit) yet he is one of Drury’s biggest supporters. I think Blais is a good acquisition; not at the cost of Buchnevich. I love Reaves, I don’t mind hunt. I don’t love these guys blocking an elite talent like Kravtsov.
Elite talent who cant handle adversity..what could go wrong???

There is no way that the Rangers can backtrack here and still smooth things out with Kravy, right? Has that ever happened?
Drouin refused to report to the AHL in 2014-15. He eventually came back, reported to the AHL, played well, earned a promotion, had a good playoffs and season. Then Tampa traded him and got great value back.

Is Holtz walking off the team?

Then the situation is different.

The Rangers should have catered to their asset a little.

Instead of taking the "You didn't make the team, suck it up and put in the work," attitude. That tough love doesn't work on everyone.

It's a righteous approach but sometimes it's better to be wrong but to keep your talent appeased.

I couldn’t disagree more, but I do appreciate the answer and understand where you’re coming from. But the fact is that Kravstov became a luxury, not a necessity, once we lucked into Kakko and Lafreniere. Not that they should treat him as such, but taking time with his development and putting him in a position to succeed at a lower level rather than plugging him into a limited role that didn’t fit his skill set should absolutely take priority over what he wants. He’s 21 years old and has 20 games of experience under his belt. He’s not entitled to a damn thing…

And, unless it’s proven otherwise, I highly doubt this was a spite move on Drury’s part. They probably feel they’re a better team in the short term with this roster and think his long term development is better served by playing in the AHL for now.

Not sure how much of this you can really pin on Drury when this is a guy who has bolted to the KHL before, under different management and pretty much wasn’t going to accept reassignment no matter what. Barron is a guy who could play but is waiting his turn. Lots of our guys did that. Krav won’t. It could be viewed as an organizational failure in how we scout attitude, handle young personalities and delicate situations, etc. but I really don’t know how much Drury specifically factors into it. He decided, along with Gallant, which mix of forwards they felt it was best to start the season with.

That said, seeing where we are in our journey toward contention, if Kravtsov is being dealt I wonder if he isn’t best off being packaged to address a need. If not, any picks we acquire may be better used in a package to address a need. Otherwise, if Kravtsov is ultimately traded on his own, I think we’re almost better off shipping him for a better backup goaltender or a similar change of scenery prospect. A 2nd that’s 4 years away isn’t going to do much for us during the years that KK, Laf, Chytil are bridgeable and Mika, Bread, Kreider, etc. still have some good mileage left.

Yes, with Messier, but it took a few years later for him to rejoin. Others? Shortly before their jersey retirement ceremonies.

From the NY Post:

"At the end of last season, Kravtsov had a contentious exit-meeting with Rangers management. Much of the strained discussion zeroed in on the way No. 74 trains in the offseason, which left Kravtsov thinking he was going to be traded. Kravtsov decided to fire his agent, Paul Theofanous, and hired new representation in Dan Milstein amid issues with Rangers brass."

"Additionally, Kravtsov believed he should’ve been in the top six when he was first recalled to the Rangers last season. Kravtsov bounced around the lineup throughout the 20 games he played in 2020-21, including a lengthy stretch on the fourth line."

Any ideas for a new nickname and avatar? It's been due for quite some time. Callahan hasn't played for us in years and Torts was fired ages ago.

I'm swedish, 30 years old, I like rap, I like to smoke weed, I love the Rangers, Jagr is my all time favorite player. I dunno what more you need to help me out lol.

What the heck are you talking about?

Do Stanley Cup teams only need 2 dominant players?

Go read Dom L's work on the Athletic, look at the templates of teams who win Cups.

I'm questioning right now whether we have enough forward talent to win even a single Cup at this point.

Details, please?
Not at liberty to say publicly so as to not out my source. But it's not hard to deduce what happened here.

His attitude on his first demotion was rotten and rubbed a lot the wrong way. He bolted to Russia and had an ok to good year, but not so much that he blew the doors off.

He comes to camp this year and while he plays decently, didn't win a top six spot outright. He was told to go back to Hartford and he's throwing a hissy fit, and here we are.

If he just waited 3 or 4 weeks and saw that the Krieder on the RW experiment failed, and went to Hartford and quietly and graciously accepted it as an opportunity to stay sharp and prove the powers that be wrong, he would've been on Zibanejad or Strome's right side by Thanksgiving.

But here we are now...

Well ****
What a misguided reaction. Did management not talk to him about his send down? The contract situation? Trading dudes to open up a spot for him? Or do the Rangers shit the bed there?
It totally makes sense to have guys like Hunt in the first game vs WSH or Tinordi in over Lundkvist.
We can't call this bad asset management because Drury could turn Kravtsov into a better player but this is bad personnel management.

I was gonna bring up his training habits, or lack thereof. He said he didnt skate all summer. Not good

No, you SHOULD always draft the best available player.

The problem is the Rangers are stupidly trying to walk in the middle of the road to please both sides. You can't do it.

They are ruining the rebuild by trying to win now. Edge and other insiders warned us, and this offseason it has derailed what was a promising rebuild all so they could construct a second round playoff exit team who will get destroyed every year by the Tampas and Colorados who actually built dynasty teams.

We had the chance to be one but we picked having Sammy Blais and Chris Kreider instead. Idiots.

Outside or that 1 st line and their D, they lack depth.
