What a freaking entitled baby this guy is. There are HOF'ers that had to prove themselves and show they were ready before they ever got a shot but somehow this guy is immune from that? I like this guys upside, but damn - awful character.

Now I will say this: would I have put Kravtsov on my roster? Probably.

That being said, I don't think it's so egregious that it warrant a f***in labor dispute. Sorry, Vitaly.

But maybe they should have known they had a prima donna on their hands and been willing to massage his ego, at least until they could have quietly worked out a trade before blowing all their negotiating power?

I mean Chytil is the perfect example for guys like Andersson and Kravtsov. He played over a full season in the NHL and then was sent down out of camp. You think he liked it or thought it was fair? Of course not. But he took the assignment like a pro, played really well in Hartford, was back in a couple weeks, and hasn't looked back.

Why can't Kravtsov do that?

This.

And you can add Jones to this list. And like 40 other players in the Rangers recent history including a former Captain and several As

If nothing else, this.

Obviously Kravtsov needs to report and take a demotion like a man. There is still a big role for him in the org in the future if he would have accepted that.

But the organization has a problem too when it

a) allows itself to draft two players who have had the exact same issues in back to back years
b) does so by drafting over higher ranked consensus players (Mittlestadt in 2017, Wahlstrom/Farabee in 2018)
c) foolishly forgets its a rebuilding team and starts trying to shoehorn grit and toughness onto the roster instead of player development.

Changes need to happen and fast.

Let's not forget that while he seems to be passed it now, Kakko seems like he was blatantly misused and misdeveloped for two seasons as well.

If you keep getting rotten vegetables from the same farmer. Do you blame the farm or the farmer? I know the KHL and Russians get a bad rap...but for ever Kravtsov there is a Svechnikov willing to put in the work.

Watching the All or Nothing series on the Maple Leafs on Amazon really showed me how little we the fans know about what goes on on these teams. There is so much stuff that happens that we never hear about, so many one on one player coach meetings, so many little disputes, so much drama and just managing of disparate personalities that fans will never hear about. Like Keefe pulling Jimmy Vesey aside during practice and saying "I don't know what kind of player you want to be? Are you a skill guy, are you a toughness guy? What are you trying to be here?" and Vesey knowing during that convo that the writing was on the wall for him and getting waived shortly thereafter. Remember Gallant is not new to this as VGK's early marketing was really hyping up Shypachyov just for him to bolt to Russia shortly after the season started.

My point is this doesn't just happen out of thin air. We find out about it via tweet and it seems like a total shock but all the people involved have been communicating to each other probably every day and Gallant and Drury were probably honest with him as to where he stood and how they envisioned the season starting. They probably wanted to feed him heavy AHL minutes to start and he just doesn't want that.

x100.

And again, this is why not including him in the bonding trip was odd to me. Something was up long before he was sent down.

He will leave for Russia otherwise and that will affect his value. We need to move him soon, real soon.

Should've traded him instead of demoting him. Raise a hand if you're honestly 100% surprised by this. Be bolted to Russia the last time.

Surprised? No.

Angry at the Rangers? Also no.

The kid has an attitude problem.

Regardless of whether the player was entitled or not the Rangers have completely botched the management of a second prime asset.

Why not try him at center? Why not keep him on the club and seek a trade before letting this bomb go off?

It's ridiculous.

So glad we traded Buchnevich now!

This f***ing team. It's completely botching the rebuild. How awesome that we ran off Gorts and JD so we could completely screw this all up.

There's less room at center than there was at wing. Who was he going to play over in the top 9 at C? Zib? Strome? Chytil? All three have proven more at the NHL level and all three played better in preseason.

Not for nothing but didn't the Rangers trade Buchnevich in part to make room for Kravstov?

Yup. Based on the way the roster was built, I think the only question they had going into camp was which top 6 line would have Kakko at RW and which would have Kravtsov. When it became clear that Krav couldn't play that role yet, everything went kind of pear shaped. Suddenly Kreider is shifting over to RW. I think the new play was likely to have Kravtsov do the work in the AHL and come back later this season to push Kreider to 3LW (and Blais to 4th line), but Krav doesn't want to do the work. It's disappointing, as I had high hopes for the kid and defended him the last time he pulled this.

Like Keefe pulling Jimmy Vesey aside during practice and saying "I don't know what kind of player you want to be? Are you a skill guy, are you a toughness guy?
Though its not apples to apples, these two sentences could shed light on the matter here

Gallant's "talker coach": VK are you a skilled top 6 guy or a versatile guy?
VK: Only skill
Gallant's communicator: "wolfPack your bags"

As a person who has nevereven been in the same room with this kid, I am going to reserve judgement and rely on the opinions of those who actually have. Buch had to go because he was a top 6 forward. We have our top 6 in Panarin,Kreider, Kakko and Laf. If this kid will pout about Hartford, he will pout about not being ahead of any of them too. The only thing fd up is the difference in pay between NY and Hartford. That's where I can see being pissed.

W.T.F. I'm just happily looking at the GDT, minding my business and I somehow overlooked this entire thread.

This kid really ... second time he pulls off a stunt like this.

Most unfortunately his value is ass atm. Glad for Gauts and Blais somewhat.

I got to read this thread now.

what a ridiculous reaction
I can completely understand him. He has great offensive talent and is constantly put in shit roles on the team. He deserves to be given a better opportunity on a team where he can have the opportunity of a more offensive role. He was a big point scorer in the KHL at a very young age yet he's treated like a bottom line talent.

I actually contemplated how Kravtsov has always been given the short end of the stick on all of this with the same ketchup effect of young forwards as for defensemen.

If Lundkvist would've been sent down I would absolutely have asked for a reaction that it's unacceptable towards his development as a player. Kravtsov doesn't want to be groomed into a bottom line role in the NHL. Again, I can completely understand his frustration.

We can probably get Turcotte, similarly to Kravtsov he's blocked in LA. Wishful thinking on my part to move Hajek and Kravtsov, but the play should be to get a C. We have plenty of wingers in the system.

Willing to add if necessary. Center is a need for us.

Getting one fixes many, many issues.

With Kravstov out we have a newfound hole at wing in our future top 6 but maybe Othmann takes it.

Soooo our RW depth is now Kakko, goat, Reaves?
well if Vitali was smart and/or mature he would realize if he played well in Hartford he would be up very soon.
Is it that hard for a 21 year old with his entire career ahead of him to accept a month playing in the AHL?
I haven't heard a peep out of arizona and Hayton...or in LA with all their prospects. Why the f*** is this happening here?
