Good opportunity to lead the league in Stromes
Definitely a possibility. Not attending the bonding thing seemed strange. I wondered if there was more to it, but everything else I saw seemed to indicate they were still bullish on the kid and expecting him to be a part of things moving forward, so I kind of just let it go.
Surely you must admit there is something fishy about this happening with two players.
Yep definitely wondering that now. Definitely wondering if there was something going on behind the scenes that kept the Rangers from wanting to include him in that trip. It's weird.
@Amazing Kreiderman can you talk to his dad or cousin twice removed or ex girlfriend and figure out what the hell is going on here?!?!
Hmm, that's an interesting thought. I guess playing well in the AHL is a good way to show you're too good for the AHL.I mean Chytil is the perfect example for guys like Andersson and Kravtsov. He played over a full season in the NHL and then was sent down out of camp. You think he liked it or thought it was fair? Of course not. But he took the assignment like a pro, played really well in Hartford, was back in a couple weeks, and hasn't looked back.
Why can't Kravtsov do that?
sad part is i love the way he plays, but i agree its impossible to defend the situationKravtsov was never going to be a popular guy in the locker room, and has some social issues. He doesn't like fan interaction, he's pretty arrogant. But that was all fine as long as he could show what he has done on the ice.
This garbage situation was created by Drury, but Kravtsov f***ed it up to the point of no return. I can't even defend it if I wanted to. This wasn't a situation where team and player disagreed about medical treatment like with Lias. No, Kravtsov refusing to report to Hartford the day he is demoted is just bad.
Entire scouting group needs to be evaluated and heads need to roll.
Honestly, at this point I'd rather try for futures. The next two drafts are supposed to be loaded. I'd try to get a late 1st or a 2nd and a B prospect for him rather than a prospect who looks to be fizzling out. If we got a 2nd for LA and a 2nd and a 6th for Sanguinetti, we should be able to get something like that or better for Kravtsov.
Alternatively, I like the idea of a Krav/Jones package for one of LA's center kids.
When a player gets an AHL assignment they can treat it like Buchnevich and Chytil or you can treat it like Andersson and Kravtsov.
Unless you have definitive insight, I am not sure that is the way it went down. Gallant sure made it seem like Kravtsov didn't make the team, he didn't even want him around. He would have been playing in Hartford based on whatever merit and metric the staff is using to evaluate the team, not so much to protect Hajek. Goat appears to have "earned" the right to be the 13f over VK.A demotion that was unnecessary, because it only serves to keep Libor Hájek who isn't even AHL caliber, and Drury f***ed up trying to play the market.
Haven't a lot of the changes happened? There's been a fair bit of turnover underneath Drury. If nothing else, this.
Obviously Kravtsov needs to report and take a demotion like a man. There is still a big role for him in the org in the future if he would have accepted that.
But the organization has a problem too when it
a) allows itself to draft two players who have had the exact same issues in back to back years
b) does so by drafting over higher ranked consensus players (Mittlestadt in 2017, Wahlstrom/Farabee in 2018)
c) foolishly forgets its a rebuilding team and starts trying to shoehorn grit and toughness onto the roster instead of player development.
Changes need to happen and fast.
Let's not forget that while he seems to be passed it now, Kakko seems like he was blatantly misused and misdeveloped for two seasons as well.
I didnt understand it from the second they announced it.
Didn't smell right and none of beat writers had any insight into it (no surprise there), which to me was the story to be had that week
That's not what objectively means. He is objectively better than several players who made it over him lol, I get people disagree with his attitude but I don’t think very many fans truly would’ve sent him down in favor of the guys we kept.
Kravtsov was never going to be a popular guy in the locker room, and has some social issues. He doesn't like fan interaction, he's pretty arrogant. But that was all fine as long as he could show what he has done on the ice.

He's immature, but he's ridiculously talented. Terrible asset management by Drury. You trade this kid early or you play him on the big club. Losing a 1st line upside talent because you want to play Gauthier or Hunt on opening night is pathetic. Vitali earned it with his play last year and his play in preseason.
Literally everyone involved has been fired already. You're entirely right, but still f*ck this organisation for drafting two of those in the top 10. There's something structurally wrong.
My first impressions on Gallant in his mannerisms and body language during press conferences is he doesn't like interacting with the media/beat writers.
Seemed like every day he was getting questions on the preseason lineup and he seemed agitated answering to every detail and gave the "you'll see our lineup the last 2 preseason games" which didn't happen.
Then answering the questions regarding who will be Captain. "We will have a Captain starting night" which didn't happen.
Then he was able to put smoke over Kravtsov not with the team for the team building trip. Perhaps he made up his mind before that last preseason game.
