I wonder how many games it will be before Gauthier actually scores a goal? How is it that this team always has a plucky guy that does absolutely nothing to move a needle in a game like a Gauthier, PDG, Voros type, what is this teams fascination with mediocrity that we'd keep Gauthier on this roster over Kravtsov. They are slowly screwing this rebuild and will end up like the leafs sooner than later if they dont have young kids on good contracts taking important roles on the team. They need to find someone to replace Kravtsov in the prospect pool, Gauthier isn't that guy. Does Ryan Poehling fit the bill as someone that we might be able to get for cheap?

They are doing the OPPOSITE of the Leafs. The Leafs loaded up on skill. The Rangers, under Drury, are loaded up on toughness.

Lol ok guy. Keep blaming Gauthier for outplaying Kravtsov in camp. Or for Kravtsov not doing enough. Or for Kravtsov not going to Hartford to get his conditioning in order after suffering an injury and forcing his way back to remove Gauthier who you think is so terrible, comparing him to PDG and Voros, yet Gallant seems to think pretty highly of him. Should have been easy for Kravtsov to displace Gauthier (who is really a 13th forward anyway) since he is so terrible.

Gauthier is an ahl player, not sure why he's here, i dont know why anyone would want him on this team.

I think Turk is of the belief that all Gauthier needs is that shot of confidence to pot a couple and get him going . He has some attributes that can't be taught in size/speed....and since Kravs won't lower his asks then this is the best way for the club to proceed . I think it is worth a few games for something that might be a decent long term investment for the club . Gallant is giving him his shot....hopefully he can repay him for it . It's hard to give that same opp to Kravs....when he quits on the team.

Should Drury have said "Oh Vitaly, just tell us what line you'd like to play on, how many minutes a night would you like and what kind of private plane can I buy you?"

He should have either let him find his way on the big club like they did with Kakko, Lafreniere and now Lundkvist or trade him. They begged him to come over, then did the exact same thing that made him leave last time. So they should have either committed to him like they did the others or moved him before they got to this point, it was easily predicted and the fact that they did this to keep Gauthier is just mind boggling because he is an AHL player.

We're beyond a few games, this is what he was last year too....nothing more. It would be like going back to PDG and expecting him to be a top 6 winger, its not who he is.

He wasn't in game shape and was not performing up to snuff and it seems they were unhappy with his conditioning and attitude. In hockey and in life that doesn't lead to being rewarded.

Gauthier has zero to do with Kravtsov.

All of that is fine but we've literally done exactly that with Lundkvist this year and Lafreniere and Kakko before that. It was a predictable situation and this team loses because they didn't react to it correctly.

Oh....I forgot that Gallant was coaching here last season....kind of makes it not quite the same . You expected PDG to be a top 6 guy ? I didn't . I don't expect Gauthier to be a top 6 either for us . However...if he can pot a few then he might just entice a rival GM to consider him as an intriguing part of a deal if a trade happens. It's not as cut and dried as you might assume 6-7 games into the season under a new regime . We are also probably a year away from farm/junior prospects to step up and fill a wing spot when we have injuries and babies quitting on us . Allow Gallant to nurture Gauthier another 15 games or so before one deems the project a failure .

I am sure there was a similar sentiment around Alex Tuch before Gallant got his hands on him. Or Huberdeau and Barkov, who’s point production doubled when Gallant took over.

Yes those players are a tier above Gauthier, but this is a former 1st round pick. He has god given physical attributes and raw skill. Not saying he is going to be some elite top 6 forward, but there could be a productive NHL player there.

People spend way too much time hating on Gauthier. Yeah, I'd rather be watching Kravtsov but I'm not going to hate Gauthier because of it. We've got plenty of guys eating a lot more minutes than Gauthier and not doing much with them.

Gauthier is a 13th forward who they hope Gallant can push, motivate, and coach to make him into an effective NHL player. He started the season as a 13th forward. And yet some people cannot help themselves and bring him into the equation as the reason why Kravtsov isn’t here.

Gauthier is what he is, he's a good ahl player who doesn't do enough offensively to make it into the top 6 and doesnt do anything defensively well enough to be a staple in the bottom 6. Carolina knew that, Quinn knew that, Gorton knew that, Drury should know that and Gallant has been left with little option but to play him.

Thats not it at all...i have no hate for Gauthier, he is what he is, but he doesn't help this team win. They needed to either keep Kravtsov, trade him for a replacement or find a player to take his spot better than Gauthier, thats the problem. Has nothing to do with hating Gauthier its about hating the lineup with him in it over someone better.

unfortunately Kravtsov has the same mental makeup as my 5 year old going to the doctor. Alot of irrational kicking and screaming.
What he is doing is helping nobody. Especially noot himself

Gauthier was never the roadblock to Kravtsov. Yes he had a better camp. But we chose Kaako, Laf, Panarin, Kreider as our top 6.

By VK's own statement he was top 6 or bust. So why are still talking about this? Blais has played better than Kravtsov ever has. Goodrow brings more to the table. So do you think VK would be happy on thr 4th line?

4th line, 13F, Hartford all end in the same result. A pouty VK. End of story.

If Kravstov was ever a fraction as effective as Gauthier was in the AHL he’d probably be on the team now.
