Still think Kravtsov isn't going to move until this year's draft. There may be interested teams but they'll want a significant discount and he ain't no sure bet not to walk away from his new team when things don't go his way nor is he a sure bet to put up significant numbers to justify taking a big chance on him. Any team trading for him knows they're taking that risk. He's unproven in North America and the numbers he's put up in Russia are good for his age but they're not at all exceptional. There's no point moving him now for a discount--it would be caving to this character who walked away from our team and if the return is much the same as it is now wait until June to get it. If he doesn't play this year I don't really care. In retrospect we should have taken Farabee, Dobson or Wahlstrom in that draft instead of him.

What the Rangers need to do, is ruin his career and make him an example, for other kiddies that this is not how you deal with wanting out. F this napoleon dynamite look a like kid.

Kravtsov isn’t injured though. He is who he is and no one is biting. I mean, yeah, trade him before the issue comes to a head. But GMs around the league know what’s up. He’s a guy with talent who has never really put it together. What’s he worth? I think it was a gamble of a draft pick that just hasn’t panned out. For any number of reasons. But either way, there’s just not much there. And he’s still under contract. It’s a crap situation but maybe somewhat salvageable.

The problem is the pick did pan out hockey wise. The car isnt wrote off but the buyer knows we need to sell it and we've shown it may have issues. This deal will be like the Lias deal, underwhelming, and if we get a similar return it will be way worse considering the talent going back the other way, there is a real possibility that he could be a 60 plus point player. Him saying he'd report to another teams AHL team has red flag all over it, and this isn't the first kid that didnt want to report to Hartford so whats going on here and have we fixed it. Its been delt with terribly, the whole situation was preventable and we'll end up with pennies on the dollar.

I'd rather just get a good prospect back for him and you know..help the team contend for a cup one day? But that's just me.

I think everyone is in the same boat as you. But then again this is a board called hockey’s future so prospects and unknown will always be valued higher.

the annoying thing is we probably could of resigned buchnevich and trade Kravatzov to the blues for the same thing.

but a Vet to help the kids learn isn’t the worst thing.

And if these issues were known to be looming, that is probably what we should have done.

Of course then our cap situation is no better.

will he report ;^)

I remember on Facebook during their playoff run, TSN posted a link to a story on him and it basically just said "Can you believe X number of teams passed on Caufield?" I was like, a) the kid has played a handful of games and is far from established as a star and b) a lot of those guys picked above him are also going to be really good, and probably better than him (I just randomly threw out Zegras, Knight, and Seider). That was probably my most-liked post ever but at the same time generated quite a response from some really angry Canadians.

He had a terrific playoffs and was real threat when he was on the ice. If any of our young forward prospects did that at such a high level most of us would be boasting like that as well.

it's completely normal and actually its very good that half the guys who come through your minor league system want out, including multiple top 10 picks
Lias and Kravtsov aside, it's actually fairly common for young players buried in the AHL who aren't getting a chance to make the NHL club in their organization to request a trade for a fresh start. These kids have a tight window to try and become NHL players and may feel they have a better shot in an organization with less depth. Guys like Halverson, Gettinger, Ronning could probably be on an NHL team or at least have a better shot. It's not necessarily an indictment on the management or the organization at all and more about kids wanting a chance somewhere.

Most of these requests don't become public so we don't hear about them, then a trade like Ryan Graves for Chris Bigras drops out of nowhere. No pouting, no failing to report, no abandoning their teams. Play well, be a good teammate and be patient and if the organization doesn't see a path for you with them they usually try and honor requests.

Just trade the guy or let him play in Russia, are both sides really stubborn enough to freeze him out for a year?

It can't be: "Hand me a top-6 roster spot or I go play in Russia". The Rangers can't cave on this one.
