He had a terrific playoffs and was real threat when he was on the ice. If any of our young forward prospects did that at such a high level most of us would be boasting like that as well.

kinda reminds me of Kreider, he came in and played in the NHL in the playoffs out of college, scored some goals, but still ended up back in the AHL for a bit after not quite being ready next season

As far as I know, Kravtsov's position is not that he demanded to be played in the top 6, it was that he refused to accept demotion to the AHL.

there were further articles adding a few points:
- that Nick Bobrov had misled guys (Krav, Lias) about quick paths to NHL regular
- that Krav looked at roster and doubted there would be opportunities on Wing
- that Drury, 2 years back, had been kinda nasty and dismissive of Krav

but overall i think Krav got/getting poor guidance,
his agent could easily show that NHL teams, over course of season, dress many more guys than just the 20 there on opening night,
and that the regulars in April are rarely the same group as October

Sure, I'm just saying, I think if the team squeezes him into a lower role or even scratches him with the big club, I'm not sure he bolts.

I think it was both, I believe Brooks reported that Kravtsov was unhappy with his role when he came over last year because he had expected to be playing in the top 6 and to get more minutes.

Fresh reports in Russia he'll be back playing for Traktor till the end of the ssn.
The report states the NYR have agreed with the arrangement.

With the Karlsson injury,

Strome and Kravtsov for Smith and Brisson. Barron or Goodrow fills in at center.

basically a 'need' swap

So what’s new with the soap opera here. As the Kravstov turns? Or the Young and The Kravstov?

Why do we draft immature players who expect to play right away and then antagonize them and erode their value? Seems like a poor plan to me.

Hmm. If they loan him out then they likely won't be able to toll his contract, meaning he could leave for Russia next year if he chooses. We will still control his NHL rights until he's 27 if he did that.

I guess it's better to have him playing somewhere.

I hope its a loan of 10 games or so to get in game shape and then bring him back to the NHL. Lord knows we need some type of offensive help right now.

yes, lets get rid of another player who can actually make plays with the puck, that seems like a brilliant idea.
you just complained about the roster makeup/style. Center play being a major issue. Who are you changing? Chytil?

You want something to change but dont want to change anything? brilliant

the roster makeup needs to be changed. Strome is a UFA.

Goodrow, Chytil and Barron fill in.

Strome is a nice player. He's not the right player though
I mean I don't totally disagree on Strome, I'm just saying that they're never going to trade him away in season with the plan being to move ahead with Chytil, Goodrow and Barron filling in. It's just not going to happen and if it was even a possibility they would've traded Strome in the offseason.

The only way Strome is getting traded without an upgrade being acquired is if some unforeseen disaster happens and we're totally out of it at deadline and we trade him in a seller move.

Kravtsov will never play for NYR again and his value at this point might not even be a late round pick.
May as well just tell him to sign with a team in Russia and that we will retain his rights until they expire in 7 years and then he will be free to shop around and play in the NHL. Until then.... enjoy Russia.
Not the first time NYR blew a top 10 pick... wont be the last.

There's really not much they can do to change it, the team is what it is going to be for the forseeable future with them locking up Zibanejad, Goodrow, and Kreider long term. Strome is not one of the problems on this roster IMO. I want something to change but acknowledge that the parts that I would change are not likely to be changed anytime soon.

Right. The team clearly has playoff aspirations. If they're in the thick of it come the TDL, they'll probably look to add, not subtract. As you said, unless they're completely out of it they're not going to move Strome without a suitable replacement (and none of our in-house options are suitable, honestly).

In one sense I'm happy he's playing to keep his trade value as high as possible, but until the end of the season? How does that help the Rangers? What in the hell do they owe this kid? He screwed the team, twice. Hopefully they can still move him at any time.

For the most part I'm really pissed the Rangers agreed to this (if true).

A. He could get injured and we lose all value for him.
B. He'll want to stay and play in Russia instead of the NHL and we lose all value for him, because he's obviously coddled there.
C. Shows other young pissants that they can get their way if they whine and request a trade if they think they are better than everyone and don't want to put the work in to earn it.
