The issue isn't Hajek, it's that Kravtsov lost the spot to Gathier who's style fits our bottom 6 identity, and VK is not willing to wait to be called up as a replacement.

This isn't correct, goddamn why are people focusing on Gauthier. Look at the lineups, Gauthier is the 13F. Kravtsov lost his spot on the third line to Blais. The line is Blais-Chytil-Goodrow
The fourth line is Hunt-Rooney-Reaves

It has nothing to do with Gauthier other than he'll be the 13th F and it'd also be dumb to keep Kravtsov as the 13th F

Realistically, we will revisit in 1 week and see if he's calmed down. He lets emotions get the better of him. Take the week, see if he wants to report to Hartford to get himself unsuspended and try and get called up. Not out of the realm of possibility that Drury is handling it as it happens. Grant the request for a trade, suspend him on paper as necessary and take it day by day.

This is 99% on Kravtsov and 1% on the Rangers.

This is his second time doing this, third if you count ditching on the KHL after being unable to stick with the big club there.

What a potato head.
didn't say anything to the contrary. just that a lot of big and not really fun things happening with the organization in the last year or two.

Any other similar aged prospects at the same level of Kravtsov that might be ripe for a change of scenery swap for Kravtsov?
Barrett Hayton has been tossed around. Yotes fans are on board as well. Hayton had chemistry with Lafreniere at the WJC and the two are pretty close. I’d rather have Kravtsov than Hayton, but at this point I’d do it

so how does this work now? Kravtsov's agent can contact other clubs and see if they're interested in him and then if they are, they contact Drury to work out a deal? Also, are the Rangers forced to deal him or can they still keep him in the organization even if he's wanting to leave?

Yeah if the Rangers give permission his agent can ask around. Rangers are not forced to deal him at all, or take any deal that his agent brings to them. They can suspend him and let him sit there and not play hockey anywhere if they want (though he'd probably just jump ship to the KHL and violate his contract)

I bet this happens more often than fans think. Bigger issue is that it leaked. Did Kravtsov's camp leak this to force the issue?

Because one of them doesn't require waivers and that same guy is allowed to then play big minutes and continue getting better?

Why is the better decision for him or the team to sit him on the bench in lieu of playing big minutes in the AHL?

In the end it's asset management. Like I said, I don't agree with his reaction, but he's done this before. Knowing that, you keep around and potentially lose Hajek who is practically worthless according to his advanced stats.

How do you keep Hajek on this team and not Kravtsov? Not saying his reaction is acceptable (it isn't), but we knew his history and they had to know there was a risk of it happening again thus tanking his value. Horrible asset management IMO.

I saw Gallant's quote. Having Hajek, Hunt, or Gauthier over Kravtsov doesn't make you play better hockey.
It is not "Kravtsov didn't make the team because he wasn't better than a defenseman". C'mon, at this point the Hajek angle is a meme.

Team will not be held hostage by a 21 year old who couldn't play up to the role his talents is suited for.

I think Gauthier deserves to play over Hunt. If Gauthier nuts up and uses that size and strength like he should, he'd be an awesome player.

There are a lot of frustrating moments, but looking at the big picture I do think that we are setting ourselves up for success in the short and long term.

I’ve been saying it all week gallant and Drury owe kravtsov nothing and if you’re gallant with the style you like to play and you’ve only seen this camp you’d take Gauthier over him easily. Kravtsov has done f*** all to act so entitled. He hasn’t put up pts anywhere even when he’s played well.

it’s another bad top 10 pick.
100%

I'm baffled by so many people putting this all on Drury and the Rangers. Kravtsov has serious character issues to handle this situation in this way. That3RW spot was his to lose and he lost it. Blais handily outplayed him and Gauthier outplayed him. It is what it is. Suck it up and dominate the AHL and you'll be back soon. But no, this kid is too good for the AHL at 21 (with 20 NHL games to his name). What a joke. Get rid of him.

I just thank the hockey gods that we got Lafreniere and Kakko so this doesn't hurt as much. Hopefully we can swap him for a center prospect, which honestly would've made sense even if he hadn't acted this way.

I mean look, in a vacuum, I'm not mad at Kravtsov. He's doing what he thinks he's doing to get where he wants to be. I think it's a terribly misguided, counterintuitive approach, but he's just doing what he thinks is best for himself (and probably getting some shitty advice, too). So, from that perspective, this is a big "whatever" to me as it's just standard stuff of guys looking out for no one but themselves.

I'm also a Rangers fan, though, and from that perspective f*** this guy.

He does have to suck it up because HE IS UNDER CONTRACT. If he wants to void it fine. But you wont play for this team again.
He does only if he cares about being a Ranger. He doesn't. He cares about playing in the NHL. He does not share your attachment to the NYR and has no loyalty to them, and frankly, given how the draft is sort of bullshit from a players POV, he shouldn't.

We aren't FORCED to trade him. Should not effect his trade value.
He will leave for Russia otherwise and that will affect his value. We need to move him soon, real soon.

Should've traded him instead of demoting him. Raise a hand if you're honestly 100% surprised by this. Be bolted to Russia the last time.

It’s unbelievably dumb that we’re going to jeopardize the potential of Kravtsov because we were worried about losing Hajek on waivers. Never mind that Hajek is worthless, doesn’t matter if he got claimed and probably wouldn’t, it’s the definition of penny wise, pound foolish. Kravtsov may not turn into anything but he still has a chance to be a cheap top 6 winger and we’ll now be lucky to trade him for fifty cents on the dollar

If Gallant thinks Gautier outplayed Kravs then I'm at a loss for words.

He did. Kravstov has potential but he didn’t do anything in the preseason. He isn’t above an AHL stint. It’s completely logical to send him down where hopefully he gets his game and confidence going for an in season call up. It was fine for Chytil and Kreider and benefitted both players.

Joe Michelletti never has anything bad to say about anyone, but he has certainly slipped little quotes into preseason broadcasts over several years indicating that he doesn't think Kravtsov has what it takes to be good at this level.

Whether that's his personality, effort, or performance, who knows.
