No problem. I'm sure we'll see it in a couple of hours anyway.

We all know the term and amount, obviously. I'm very interested to see the particulars of the NMC myself, but I doubt they will announce that today, given the Kings' attitude about contract particulars in the past.

It will eventually leak out, however.

yea, same question was asked here. kopi's circle is very discrete about such things, so i guess it will come out from standard sources.

I think the record is something like 2 minutes after a contract is announced and the record for longest is a few hours.

Is Dean having buyer's remorse? Probably, but nothing he can do about it.

Hurry up in sign the contract so dean can start work on Lucic's deal. Kopi wants the contract written in Deans blood first before he resigns i guess. I bet Jeff Carter regrets signing that long term deal with philly. If Kopitar is worth 10 mil, what would Carter be worth?

Very different times. I don't think Carter regrets it at all, except for maybe that time in Columbus.

Haha for real. Left 2 train wrecks and ended up riding on top of a bus in 2 Stanley Cup championship parades. That contract of his enabled it.

Let's hope this final stage isn't like the SpaceX landing stage.

Kopitar deal close but still not official. I'm told sides are still working on details.

If it doesn't get done today I'll likely officially start to worry that a deal might not happen.
Getting this close and having something fall apart couldn't help relationships.

Probably a silly question, but don't these contracts with NMC sometimes have a timeframe before the NMC kicks in. Perhaps Kopitar is a little concerned that DL may do a Visnovsky on him.

That's not a silly question and given that this deal was 'close' two mos ago, that might be part of the quagmire. That and getting Decembers off, as DocWest so aptly noted.

How could DL offer any guarantees that he wouldn't do the same again I wonder. Even if the contract isn't signed until after the trade deadline, if it doesn't kick in until the current deal expires, kopitar could still be leaving himself open to being traded at the end of the year couldn't he?

Thought this deal was already done and all he had to do was sign the ****ing thing this morning. I mean...what the **** is this horse **** mental ************?

Wow, I am beginning to see Dean's devious scheme now.

Step 1: Make Kopitar think it's a tough negotiation.

Step 2: Give him everything he wants to make him happy.

Step 3: Win a third Stanley Cup using happy Kopitar.

Step 4: Lubo Kopitar's ass the week after the cup parade.

Step 5: Start rebuild with newly acquired assets.

What a cunning SOB.
