Looking at Max Curran stat line 44 points in 40 games seems pretty good
He is having a pretty good year offensively but I am concerned about his D game. I know +/- is kind of a BS stat but his is pretty bad compare to the rest of the team. In fact 3 Fwds are bad so I am assuming they are a line. Anybody has followed him this season? I am curious if it is due to his linemates or him also.

I occasionally just check all our guys stat lines, so it would be wonderful to get some actual knowledge on some of these guys.

We dont talk about him much at all but Gulyayev has also had a pretty decent season. Hard to read Dmen in the KHL because of the way they play. But he's matched his point total from last year now in 17 less games, and has 2 more goals.

Positive progression is all you can ask for, for now.
he's our best prospect been saying that since the draft

I'm pretty terrible at judging NA junior players and how their talent will continue and progress. Attempting to do so with our Russian prospects seems like an attempt in futility. But from what I've read, I've kinda got Tyson Barrie vibes with Gulyayev.

Gulyayev reminded me of Ozolinch since the draft. I agree he's our best prospect but I'm not as high on Ritchie as most. Should be a solid 2C someday but that may be a few years out.

Bardakov is most likely going to be a good bottom-6 guy on another team. Bednar is going to hate him because he plays chippy and hits people, so he'll get Kovalenko'd at some point

Hey, if he can bring us a quality player like Kovy brought us Blackwood then I am all for it.

With that said I am looking forward to see what he can do for us. Maybe he can be a good addition in the spring when his season is over in Russia.

I suppose I could do a search if it's already been mentioned, but has he made statements about coming over soon?

I'm guessing if he did come over, he'd be with the Eagles for a couple years, if not trade bait long before that.

Avs really need to find a coach who can adapt and with some flexibility. Beds did his thing. I feel like it's time for a new one.

Do we have a player here?

I'm not getting my hopes up. He's dominating kids. He looked underwhelming in the WJCs as well as his few games in the NHL.

I think he's got more than Jost, but I'm not sure he's going to be much better than Newhook. I hope to be eating these words entirely. I was absolutely thrilled with him as a pick all the way up until his second game in the NHL. Realized he needed more time in the oven, but then in January where he looked very bleh at the WJCs I've kinda soured on him a bit.

I'm not sure if I'm completely off on that or not. What's everyone elses thoughts on Calum?

I'm starting to get nervous about Ritchie, too. After all, we've all seen this story unfold a thousand times: dominant at lower levels, barely competent in the NHL. There's something about the Avs scouts where they can identify talent, but they can't really manage to identify traits that will translate to the NHL. Newhook's skating looked awesome when he was drafted, it wasn't until he made it to the NHL that it became clear that he didn't have the separation ability to give himself space to make use of his offensive gifts.

And for both of them, henchy took a lot of grief for sounding the alarm bells about their skating early on when they were darlings on here. And as always, he was right. And before he disappeared, he started to get critical of Ritchie as well...

I don't know, maybe it's just PTSD from prospect watching for the last 10 years and seeing so many players I liked turn into duds. But I'm getting a sinking feeling about Ritchie lately. I'm kind of hoping we trade him at peak value at the deadline to get a real NHL ready 2C for this year, then I won't have to worry so much about whether he's actually a bust.

I wonder what sort of 2C a Mittelstadt+ Ritchie would get

Same thoughts. Clearly have talent and creativity, as shown by that fake wrister move. But does he have the grit to play decently in a bottom six role and then go up? Can he even dominate the AHL?
