I've also said many times that I would never even consider re-signing Lucic. Thanks for everything and hope he gets another ring, but move on.
No, of course it will go down if HRR taken in by Candian teams and converted to U.S. dollars gets reduced due to the exchange rate. Remember what I posted about escrow going up from 16% to 20%? That tells you everything you need to know about what the NHL really thinks about HRR for this season.
Teams don't hedge to protect HRR, they hedge to protect themselves so they can pay the players in U.S. dollars as they are contractually required.
It's part of a section which allows for adjustments to % share or adding other sources of revenue. Not that they would necessarily utilize that section, but if it gets dire enough there are parts of the CBA which allow amendments.
I never thought about TV deals though, not sure if they are substantial enough. Although there is a section on HRR just for the Leafs
And just a little farther down there is this.(a)
"Hockey Related Revenues."
"Hockey Related Revenues" or "HRR" for each League Year means the operating revenues, including Barter (as defined below), from all sources, whether known or unknown, whether now in existence or created in the future, as expressly set forth in this Section 50.1
(i) HRR shall include the following non-exhaustive list of revenues:
The plan stays the same, you let Lucic walk after the season.
Kopitar at 10 million a year is awful, but you have to sign that contract.
It is, what it is, Just hope the Kings win another cup or two.

It's called a fair market contract.
The going rate for superstar forwards is $10m a year with a full no-movement clause. Guys like Kopitar, Kane and Toews hold all the cards, they can demand what they want because they know there would be a line out the door on July 1st of teams willing to give them that.
This idea that Lombardi is some kind of magician who was going to have more luck than Bowman is ridiculous, the same thing is going to happen when Drew is eligible to sign an extension, just the way it is.
Will be interesting to see how the people who were so adamant about how awful the Kane and Toews deals were now react to this one. I'll give Hyori and K17 credit, they haven't changed their opinion one bit.
I'm personally ok with it, just realize the last 3 year are going to be rough, but worth it if we win another cup or two.
I'm imagining K17 as the "All is lost" cat right now.
Kopitar had better lead the way to at least one or two more cups. People around here thought I rode his ass before. Well, I have some new spurs now.
He has been playing great as of late, but I am looking forward to seeing if he is going to relax now.
Not a chance. I am in the "show me more" mode. Kopitar still has a lot to prove in my eyes. This is not a good deal for the Kings. It is at best slightly in Kopitar's favor. I don't want to hear any more baloney about him needing the "right" wingers to create offense. It's his job to make his wingers better now.
And again... top scorer on the team every year while providing Selke performances. Led the team in scoring both postseasons they won the Stanley Cup. He has also missed 21 games in 10 years, even though he gets the most minutes among forwards.
You riding Kopitar all this time just says more about you than anything else.
Sorry but it's not there. You can't change what HHR is.
And just a little farther down there is this.
" The Applicable Percentage of the Players' Share shall be adjusted in the
event that, at any time, the System Arbitrator sustains one or more requests by the
NHLPA to adjust HRR by adding or imputing a source of revenues in existence and
known to the NHLPA at the effective date of the CBA, and not included in revenues
reported by Clubs through UROs, Levitt adjustments or Article 50"
I think we are of the same mind on this. The window will be closed as soon as the Kings can no longer maintain the supporting cast required to surround Kopitar and Doughty with enough talent to win a cup. That day could be coming sooner than we think if Dean can't rid the team of some troublesome contracts.
Anyone think Dean will get Toffoli signed for less than an AAV of $5M or $6M? Doughty will want at least $10M AAV. If the cap doesn't reach $80M within a couple of seasons, this run will be over.

**** the salary cap, seriously.

This is going to set the price for Stamkos and I believe he's going to get more than Kane and Toews.
