In the Rangers/London game, Jussi should have called a time out after the Bonk goal when the wheels either fell off or weren't moving. Did Rangers play better in the 3rd, yes, but by then it was too late. IMHO

Since the Rangers are almost certainly locked into the 4 seed, what team would you want to see them play in the first round out of Erie, Guelph, Owen Sound and Flint? I would be leaning towards Guelph for a couple of reasons. The first is that they are the closest team to us and if you want to go far in the playoffs travel time can sure add up. However I think the bigger thing to look at between the 4 teams is how many goals they score and how many they allow. Guelph has scored 35 less goals than the next lowest team so that would be an obvious weak point for them, but they don't allow that many goals so it may be beneficial to play one of the other 3 since they allow many goal goals than Guelph. At the end of the day the Rangers should be able to beat any of these teams, but you still have to set yourself up right in the first round to have latter success.

When you look at what the Rangers did to the Spits last year I think it's important they tighten up defensively. Playoffs are a different animal. They will be playing one specific team that has watched a lot of video on the 4th place Rangers. I think Erie would give the Rangers a challenge. Guelph is probably preferable because of the distance. None of the teams below the Rangers will just roll over. Be great if they did.

Very true. Even when the Rangers were the 2 seed back in 2017-18 Guelph still managed to push that series to 6 games.

And what about the 2nd round? Assuming all 4 top seeds win their series, I am hoping that Saginaw ends up on top as I like our chances better for an upset. There are 3 very good teams ahead of us but I am hoping Saginaw goes in a bit complacent.

If I had to choose a team to play in the second round it would be Saginaw as well. I agree that I think they lineup best for the rangers and that they may be less on the ball knowing they have a spot in the memorial cup already (I doubt it, but you never know). Plus I think their goaltending could let them down perhaps as well.

I always say watch what you wish for and play who you get. Biggest reason - if you play the team you were hoping for you may relax and let up.
I honestly never want the rangers to play London. They've had our number for so many years (besides the 2022 playoffs) and there just seems to be something about those darn knights that makes it so hard for the rangers to always be on their A game against them.

Big news for Hunter!

Elliotte Friedman : “That’s a big package for a third-rounder, but it shows how far he’s come and how much CAL wanted him”

Travel shouldn’t be a consideration in the 1st round. We have home ice. There’s no travel for us until after game two. At that point, both teams’ travel the same distance throughout. Sure, travel ramps up after game 4. But if we’re worrying about travel late in the 1st round having an impact on the 2nd round, we’ll be behind the eight ball already assuming our 2nd round opponent will have ended their 1st round in 4or 5 games.

Whoever we can eliminate in the least number of games should be the ideal matchup. I’m not sure there’s a right answer. But for me, I’m thinking that team is Guelph.

As far as the 2nd round goes, I don’t expect success, but if I’m getting eliminated in round 2, I’d rather do so at the hands of the Memorial Cup hosts - not the team who’s owned the Aud for most of the last 20 years

Great post Even. Rangers should win the 1st round. 2nd round they need a miracle like last season. The Knights still have Knight mares about Catennaci sliding across the ice on one knee. It motivates that team every time they meet. They are a sold built squad from the goalie out. Be a hell of a challenge presently for any franchise to put knock them out of a 7 game series

Geez! A few years ago I was roasted on here for suggesting a young rookie Petizian could be compared to and have a comparable career here as Micheal Catenacci.

Now this! ;)

Petizian and Cat looked like twins. Old Timers acting up again. In my old mind all I see is a Ranger player on one knee sliding towards Hunter who wishes he had a a rock in his hand. Hope it's a recurring dream.
