I’m a big Jussi fan. (Ahokas, not Smollett).

But, today he has three veteran D on the roster who he’s being forced to play the crap out of. Brzustewicz. Motew. Andonovski.

He has a 16 year old rookie that he’s being forced to play more minutes than he should be playing against stronger competition than he should see. Reid.

He has another rookie who at best should be getting #6 D minutes on a deep playoff run. Campbell.

I don’t care who’s coaching this team. He’s not going to find lengthly playoff success with that thin a D corps.

He’s having to play the top four way too many minutes now. Today, it’s the regular season and they’re finding it hard. They are exhausted. What going to happen in the post season when they play three games in four nights, twice in one round likely.

I’ll tell you what’s going to happen. They’re going to get ran into the ground. Hopefully, we don’t lose one or more of them to injury as a result.

My game plan vs the Rangers? Dump it in and hammer the D. Over and over and over. Wear them down. Hit to hurt but be clean.

Mike, you can’t possibly allow this team to enter the post season without additions to the back end, can you? Really??
Ideally we are healthy (no one can predict this) and Mesar, Rehkopf, et. al. get back to controlling the puck the way we had been and the lines get back to their routine/roles. If we do get a defensive d-man (who is quicker than Schmidt was) we are in a good spot and are not selling the farm. Crossing fingers that this might happen tomorrow.

Windsor board is saying Peer to Kitchener. Didn’t make sense unless Martin injury is worst then thought. I know he is skating. Anyone heard an approx return date?

I’d hope if something happened with Martin, we’d bring in an OA D.

Would lardis or vanecker be options if brantford sold Donavan
Neither of those two are going anywhere this year. Both will heavily factor into the Bulldogs plans for next year. Vanacker is only an 06.

Jawk, the Bulldogs do a great job managing their assets along with scouting the type of player they require for their franchise. They made a huge trade that fills their coffer and only gave up one player. I remember in an interview with the Bulldog's GM who said they look for character players. Also prospects that play well away from the puck. It contributes to their success. Well coached team that always seems to be a challenge to play against. Not sure they really need to do more at the deadline with their haul. Having the assets in the cupboard allows your GM to compete for the big name players when the time comes. Looking at the trades presently some teams over spent but the market required this to compete.

Just a rumor. The Speculation of Peer going to Sudbury makes more sense, but again both are rumors.

Peer to Sudbury makes a lot of sense. Only way Kitchener is interested if they got bad news about Martin. Kitchener is very happy with our 3 OAs.

I've said this for yrs. But to really maintain a perpetual contender, a GM will need to sacrifice a cpl of contending seasons by trading away high return assets. That way in the future, a team should have talented depth players to trade away to acquire more picks but have talented youth to replace them. .....wash, rinse and repeat each season.
