Historically, along with the big trades in the dying days of deadline week, there are some smaller deals for secondary players. Since we’re looking for depth, is MM waiting around for secondary adds on the cheap in the dying hours?

Depth is our issue. We’re not looking for big time adds.

That’s what I’ve been saying. If he lands the OTT Dman then get some vets on cheap in the last hour. I’d really like to see a solid 3rd line center though.

I've said this for yrs. But to really maintain a perpetual contender, a GM will need to sacrifice a cpl of contending seasons by trading away high return assets. That way in the future, a team should have talented depth players to trade away to acquire more picks but have talented youth to replace them. .....wash, rinse and repeat each season.
Nice to have those extra 2nds when the draft is heavy with skilled prospects.

Not sure what direction we are going anymore? Are we buying, standing pat or selling. Went in all 3 directions since early last night. :naughty:

What MM needs to do, is find out what GMs are on the last yr of their contracts and their teams struggling. Those GMs would probably be desperate to improve their teams to hopefully get a contract extension. 😬
Ward do you have a copy of Mark Hunter's play book? Somehow I think Nelli has something to do with this?

Sale refused to go to Flint. Sale wants to be in Kitchener. Don’t know what MM could possible offer to get him though. Maybe like Ellinas and pick(s).

Can the rights to Pobezal be traded if he doesn’t report here for this year?

If so, would that get a Sale deal done?

The feeling I’m getting from the Masses is to Pickup 1/2 D men and a 3rd line C. On the “Cheap” but can contribute. Keeping our 07”s and 2024 picks intact.
I'm not hearing alot of all out "go for it" type narratives.

For the record I’m either in for that or I could go the complete opposite way and tear it down dealing Mesar/Sop and Bru. ( It appears that window has closed) as most teams have blown their budget.

I believe we're behind when it come to the Soo/Saginaw roster without the ability to catch them, but with the above mentioned adds we could pull and upset or 2. After all we're very well coached have a Top end Goalie and probably the best goal scorer in the league. Stranger things have happened.

Standing pat. We don't have a chance at an upset. IMO

My only Real hesitation is Morey/Stark and one of Romano/Bottineau sitting in the stands every game. I’ve really liked all of their development the first half of this season. I know Injuries will happen, so we’ll likely see more of them then we expect but we really don’t stand a chance if we were to incur and major injury. So there’s that.

Erie has been quiet. We can’t afford Misiak. But a team picking him up may have to move out an import on the cheap?

One of those picks I’d assume.

Source?

It’s on the Flint board.

I don’t see Morey getting any ice after this deadline. Hopefully he is sent the opposite way in a trade. Stark and Romano can sub in. They will be counted on heavily in the next 3 years after this season.

That’s not bad thinking. As good as Pobe wil be. He would be an OA when 2007 are 19 years old and 100% won’t be here as an OA. If he can’t help this year I’m completely fine trading his rights.

And I doubt Bottineau comes out if the lineup.

Seriously?
He’s a 25 minute a night stay at home D with OA possibilities. Played on Ottawa’s top pairing last year.
Pay to play.

Great 4th line player. I like the 4th line of Bott, Mercer, Pug. It’s a long season. Give some players rest and I’m sure illiness and injuries will happen. They will get some ice this year.
