If I’m him, I’m rubbed the wrong way a little if you don’t improve on that third line you posted above. I’d try to get a good veteran LW to play with he and Lam.

Duh….just add Pobezal!! He can play wing until next year. 😊

Swick - Razor - Mesar
Martin - Beck - Misa
Pobezal - Sop - Lam
Pug - Mercer - Bott

Beck is a 200 foot player. Would help the defensive side of our game.

As far as cost goes, MM would have the leverage. The last time we had a Peterboro Pete demand to only report to Kitchener, we got him for two seconds. Matt Puempel.

Sound like a deal?
The difference is Kitchener is dealing with a different general manager than they dealt with in 2012. Mike Oke is a very good general manager in the OHL and will not trade Owen Beck for next to nothing like what happened with Matt Puempel. That trade was made by an inexperienced general manager and will not happen this time. The other factor is that I think Beck would likely prefer to remain a Pete with Rob Wilson as his coach. Puempel wanted out. If they cannot get a decent return they may just keep him.

Jsut to add to that, sometimes you need to hold your position even if it hurts you in the short term. If opposition GM’s and players know you will fold and give in, you will be branded as that guy. If Oke were to simply keep Beck because Beck will only go to one team and that team will only trade half value, he sends a message to agents of players and other GM’s that what he says he means. That is super important.

On top of that, the Petes won the Championship last year. If they keep Beck because of unfortunate circumstance, it is not going to kill them. They are going to be poor the next two years regardless. But, at least they have the banner and that is the primary goal anyway.

And, it is not like they paid a significant premium for Beck as an 18 year old. If you compare what Sarnia traded for DelMaestro and what Peterborough traded for Beck, they essentially traded a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to gain Beck the extra year. If they keep him, it didn’t cost much to do so. They win either way IMO.

I agree 100%. Speaking as a fan of the Rangers I would be much more upset if MM ever traded a star player for way under market value than if he just kept him. Speaking as a fan of the league, you can't allow players to dictate what teams they'd like to play for and not get fair value. It's, plain and simple, not good for the competitive balance.

I think I will wait and see what MM comes up with. The way I see the Rangers situation is we are going to be pleasantly surprised or presently disappointed. I have Old Timers now and all these crazy made up speculations are making me mental I must say. :eek2:
Agreed. A lot of trades on these boards. Not so much on the OHL site! LOL!

Curious, are trades traditionally announced on the weekends, especially on the last weekend before the trade deadline?

You would think they would have the OHL office open on the weekend. When the flood gates opens and the Knights have all the good players everyone will go bonkers anyway. ;)

Born in Peterborough. Played his minor hockey in Quinte West which isn’t too far from PTBO.

Sometimes a player might say 1 team as they have a relationship somehow with someone on that team. The only connection I see are Rehkopf (world juniors) and maybe a couple ex games with Mesar in MTL.

Would be really interesting if this is true. Just because he picks here does not mean we have to give up Romano or any 2007. We can put our best offer forward and see he PTBO takes it. IF this is true then I think MM would have no issues with only adding Beck upfront and then focusing on D. Beck is a huge add.

Beck got to know Razor at Worlds and thought he was funny just like Mesar did. Told Montreal as much and they told the Petes that if Beck is traded, he has to go and join their boy Mesar and that funny guy, Razor. Deal done.

(FACT CHECK: Total fabrication just to get in on all the wacky rumours.)

Yep! I heard the same thing while at a coffee shop in London. The guy was short, grey hair, was wearing a brown suit. 😳

Good points Even. Rangers didn't fluke their way to first place at the deadline. They have some of the best forwards in the league on the top two lines who have been at the top of the point stats all season. The Soo and Saggy are built for a run with a lot of vets this season. Rangers are actually one of the youngest teams( 4th youngest) I believe in the OHL. At this point MM has a huge challenge and some big decisions to make going forward. Side note: Rangers could have won the game last night with a little luck and a little less fancy passing. Wasn't overly impressed with Saginaw who is hosting this season at this point. They will get stronger with trades along with other squads going forward.
Weighted average age has the Rangers the 8th oldest at 18 years, 9 months, 15 days. The Soo is similar, while Saginaw and Sudbury are the oldest.

teams avg age is separated by days in some cases, can be very misleading
I agree Dirty but still one of the younger teams in a rebuild year that has found some great success. When you look at how some of last seasons players stepped up so much make one wonder if they were being held back some what last season.

That website shows Kitchener as the 7th youngest, and definitely youngest among "contnders".

It also shows me that Mississauga's performance may be the most impressive.
Yes, I see us as 7th YOUNGEST as well? As for "weighted average", as the poster above mentions, I see nothing "weighted". You take the total age of the players, divide it by the number of players and you get your average age. A "weighted average" would be if you, for example, took Arquette and factored in the number of games he played rather than just an additional body.

So I am not clear how the attached list is calculated. Is it the current roster used only? Or is there some sort of formula that takes into account what players are used and how many games they played? I guess that is what I meant by, "What do you mean by "weighted average"" up above. To the other poster. LOL!

Agree with your Missy assessment. They were looking good even towards the end of last year.

I looked this up at the beginning of the season because I was curious where KIT would be. MISS is interesting because they have 3 goalies rostered - 2 '06 and 1 '07. Very unusual, especially for a top team. Not sure how much of a difference 3 players make on a roster of 26, though. Most teams default to older goalies, given their development curve.
